I felt cheated.

As always, the service staff was exceptional, from our arrival in Barcelona to our departure at Heathrow. The restaurant professionals were courteous, pleasant and friendly, unlike many of the guests. May I suggest hiring some entertainers and staff from the destinations being traveled. That was a feature that made our Russian voyage so richly rewarding. Evidently, the Brits received a much ...

All the hype couldn’t wait to cruise this line. The ship was beautiful, the staff and service was wonderful. Embarkment was ok except when came on had to leave luggage in lounge and claim later did own transfers. The cabin was Good but I have had nicer on other ships. PV1...Dining was also good not spectacular. The open table with wine pairings was the best. Manfredos was nothing special. ...

Beware of false advertising!

We choose this cruise because it was advertised as 2 days in Barcelona and 2 days in Florence. We were very disappointed because several months before the departure we were notified that we were only going to be in Barcelona until 10:00 P.M. This left us 11 hours to see Barcelona after an all night flight! We did not get to see Florence at all because you had to add on an excursion to do that. ...

High expectations but in the end mediocre

We had cruised with Carnival and Princess before and this year went upscale to a Viking Med. Ocean Cruise with our brother and wife as travel partners. The positives: 1) Food was excellent, 2) Less crowds with smaller passenger loads. The negatives: 1) Simple requests required escalation to management. We had a plumbing problem with the shower, special requests for honor bar drinks, that took ...

Mediterranean Odysee - Super Service, Tough Excursions.

This cruise went from and to all the places we had not been to in the Mediterranean and we had heard so much about Viking "hospitality." We changed from a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to this cruise. I would caution anyone signing up for a Viking excursions to do their research on what the meaning of their "moderate" is. We, unfortunately, signed up for two full day excursions early in ...

Just returned from Feb 21-March 1 sailing. I have never been so cold in my life! Rain, sleet, snow, rain and WIND. Guides carried on no matter what. Prices of sweaters, etc for sale in Viking Shop were exorbitant. Should have been alternate plans available with more bus tours rather than walking. Better to sail in shoulder seasons but it was what it was. The ship was beautiful, cabin on deck ...

Not Up to River Cruise Standards

The Viking Star is a fantastic ship. The entertainment is always going on somewhere on the ship. The ship's crew was helpful and pleasant. The food and service in the Specialty Restaurants is outstanding. The biggest issue was the quality of the food and service in eating areas other than the specialty restaurants. One morning for breakfast the The World Cafe the orange juice was watered down with ...

A nice cruise but not up to the usual Viking experience

We chose this cruise because of the ports primarily but also the timing. The departure city, Barcelona, was wonderful and we were glad that we arrrived a few days early. Unlike our experience in Lisbon a few years ago however, Viking provided little for us besides recommending the service of a tour company, for additional money of course. We found that so much was optional and extra ...

Great ship, ports, lectures, tours, and food.

Rough seas but great cruise nonetheless. Should have picked a better month than March in the Med as we had high seas (15-20 ft) over half the trip and missed Sardinia as port of call as a result. But all the other stops were excellent along with the ship itself and all its' amenities. We waited too long to book and so had a room directly above the engine room and this also wasn't the greatest ...

I enjoyed the cruise but I didn't enjoy the excursions. Was a lot of chaos hurry and stand around and wait. Felt like a bunch of cattle going around. Mostly seniors and no bathrooms on the buses. A lot of strenuous walking that people were complaining about. Was a maiden cruise so hopefully will learn from all the responses. Love the food, was great and the drinks too as part of the package. ...
