Chose this cruise in order to visit many of the famous sights around the Mediterranean we had long wanted to see. In this regard, the cruise met our every expectation, although we do wish we had added additional days before and after our cruise to better explore and enjoy both Barcelona and Venice. We think an additional day or two "at sea" (there was only one) would be great in order to improve ...
Friends suggested an Ocean Cruise in the Mediterranean. We had not been on an ocean cruise before so we really had no expectation. We had completed two river cruises (one with AMA and one with Viking) and enjoyed the rivers. Viking Ocean was a much bigger ship that I expected, however, it is spacious. Viking designed the ship in such a way that there are various sitting/bar/game areas. You ...
Had previously gone on a Viking river cruise and had an excellent experience. My husband and I wanted to do an ocean cruise, but also wanted the opportunity to visit places we had never been to. The number of "stops" on our cruise gave us the opportunity to revisit some of our favorite cities in Europe as well as explore some new ones. While the included excursions were interesting, the crowds ...
We have cruised with Viking in the past, while this was our first Ocean Cruise (Mediterranean) with them. Loved the small ship size, which really helped to not be overwhelmed by what is already over tourism at most European destinations. The Viking Star ship is large enough to provide for perfect sized accommodations with ample room/balcony space, plenty of onboard amenities and a nice smooth ride ...
The itinerary appealed and I wanted to see what others found special about Viking. It was nice but no better than others that are far less expensive. The ship was pleasant, and the food was good. There was not enough space for clothing in our deluxe veranda cabin. The entertainment was lacking and mostly consisted of the same group of vocalists every night. Daytime programming was practically ...
We have sailed a number of Viking river cruises but this was our first ocean cruise. Suffice it to say - we rebooked the same ship and the same stateroom for a 2021 Viking Homelands cruise. Loved the ship but went on so many land excursions that we didn't have enough time aboard to enjoy all the ship had to offer. Embarking and disembarking was easy and well organized for the excursions. ...
My friend found the cruise and we traveled as two sets of couples. We enjoyed most of the cruise. Some small complaints were: a little disorganization of registering for the included day trips; some confusion at times getting off board to get on the included day trips.
Many awesome ports on the cruise.
At embarkation we had a little problem in that a Viking representative forgot to give back ...
We have traveled before on a Viking river cruise so knew that we wanted to try the ocean cruise also.
We loved the cruise except for some minor areas which were more weather related than anything.
The food is fabulous and we liked the idea of eating in various restaurants. The waiters were excellent and very expedient in getting you whatever you needed.
We had upgraded to a suite that ...
I love history and this cruise had plenty of that. We got to visit many walled cities in countries we had never visited before. We really loved Croatia and my wife especially enjoyed the Greek Islands we went to. As far as the ship itself, the food was both great and diverse and the crew was very friendly. There were numerous restaurants and we enjoyed all of them. For those that have an ...
We sailed on Viking in 2016 (Into the Midnight Sun) and loved the smaller ship. (We've also done 5 River Cruises with Viking)
Embarkation was not a good experience....Not the usual welcome, and security people were extremely rude (pulling things out of my carry on and throwing onto conveyor belt) and shouting directions. Not one person welcomed us until we entered the ship. Not usual Viking ...
