The Crossing

VIRGIN VOYAGE REVIEW The last cruise I took was a 14-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Istanbul in 1995 (23 years ago). Therefore, given the huge changes in the cruise industry with a new ship being built that will carry 10,000 passengers I would clearly classify myself as a newbie. Virgin Voyages is a relatively new cruise line started by Richard Branson. It currently has three ...

Disappointing food, great ship

First the good: The ship is huge and awesome. Felt like we were in a large hotel. Minimal sway on the “rough days”. Room a Central Park balcony was clean and had plenty of storage. Zero wind and nice music in the evening from the band playing in Central Park. Some random things I really disliked in no particular order: Upon unpacking, our cabin steward told us they no longer ...

Too many issues

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Carnival Freedom

This was our third Transatlantic cruise with Carnival and by far the worst. If this had been our first Carnival cruise we'd never set foot again on a Carnival ship. The cruise got off to the worst possible start and never really recovered to an acceptable level. It started on a sour note with Embarkation and finished on a sour note with Disembarkation, the bit inbetween was only slightly ...

This ship should be turned into a reef

Took this ship over to Barcelona and back to Port Canaveral for the "replace the whale tale" transatlantic cruises. Wow, what a mistake! First mistake was not knowing that you don't take a cruise on a ship that's going into or out of dry dock because there will be contractors working on various aspects of the ship all during the cruise. Fortunately, we weren't bothered by this in our cabin ...

My wife and I just got back from a 14 day crossing (from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale 10/18 to 11/02) aboard the Celebrity Reflection and have some comments about our experiences. We have been on 64 cruises with 27 of them being on Celebrity. Our cabin: First of all the cabin had to be the dustiest we’ve ever had. When we got on board my wife and I noticed that it wasn’t clean, however, being ...

We decided to cruise to Florida from Nova Scotia this year instead of flying. We flew to Bergen, Norway and cruised on the Viking Venus to Barcelona, Spain. After 5 days in Barcelona we boarded the Celebrity Reflection to Fort Lauderdale. We had a bad experience on the Reflection a few years ago, so i was reluctant to go on it again. This time was different. The ship was immaculate, the food ...

Transatlantic cruising is not for everyone… but as a bucket list for many. We have cruised 20+ with RCCL and Celebrity over last 20 years. Three cruises this yr - 2 on Celebrity and one on a river cruise. This is our 3rd cruise on reflection…and our last Positives- the staff. From the officers down to the crew- excellent performance Now for the not positive- 1) embarking and ...

6th Transatlantic

This was our 6th transatlantic, the 1st on Celebrity with the others on RCCL. It was a more northerly crossing than we are use to so we expected it to be a little rougher and cooler. It met those expectations and more with it being generally cloudy on most sea days. Entertainment - with these T/A's the cruise lines typically brings in top notch performers and they (like the guests) are ...

My husband and I have been on other cruises but this was our first experience with Celebrity. Overall it was a very enjoyable cruise. I want to give kudos especially to Dave & Angela Clarke and their entertainment team who all worked exceptionally hard but also made it look like fun while doing so. A shoutout to Luca in particular whose stretching classes we attended each day. He was absolutely ...

Good Cruise, Not a Premium Experience

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Celebrity Reflection

User Avatar

Celebrity has positioned itself as a premium cruise line, but candidly, I'd put it on the same level as RCCL, NCL, and a little above Carnival. Dining - My main concern relates to the quality of fare in the main dining room. The food was well prepared for what it was, but there was a lot of chicken and beef on offer. Unless it was offered on a night when we were in a specialty restaurant, ...
