This was our first cruise, and whilst we booked it when we were a little tipsy, so glad we did. This was a holiday to celebrate my 40th... This was a Barcelona round trip. We stayed in the city the night before and had an extra night once we left the ship. Barcelona is a great city I've been to several times before so would recommend that. Embarkation was a breeze. As we had Aurea experience, we got priority boarding so sailed straight through checking and embarkation. It was really easy to follow, especially for people who had never done this before. We boarded the ship around midday, and whilst rooms weren't ready until about 1.30pm, we went to see if we could drop our carry on's off, and we could, which was really handy. Advice: carry on a little as possible... most people need less than they think. Our experience came with a drinks package, can't remember what it was, but it was the one before they changes to Easy etc. However, pre-boarding, we upgraded over the phone to the Premium Plus. Found the food in the restaurant and buffet to be really good with lots of variety. I hate over attentive staff so they standard European service was perfect for me. We did speciality restaurant in the Asian Fusion and Tappanyaki, both were really good. As we'd upgraded our drinks package, we were also able to spend lots of time at the champagne bar without fear of the final bill. Bar service was always pretty fast. Morning coffee from the atrium bar before disembarking, there was a bar just for Aurea experience, and that was good. Ship never felt too full or crazy. The theatre shows were OK. With it being a multilingual ship, not so easy having the spoken word on stage so much, though i would say they need to drop the Tina Turner show. The internationalism of MSC was one of the things that drew me to it. Didn't do any ship organised excursions; it was Europe do never really difficult to get around. Being from the UK, I've been to the mainland lots. First port was cancelled due to operational reasons (didn't find out what they were), and went to Toulon. Found this out once we embarked so didn't have much time to do research. Did the casino, and had fun. Limited myself to 30 Euro and it lasted quite a long time. The MSC for Me app was really useful; highly recommend people download it. You can use it on the ship ships WiFi without having a WiFi package. The screens around the ship were also very good. As we were Aurea, we also got the wristbands, which were really handy for everything. Just couldn't leave the ship without the card. Disembarking was easy. Whilst we needed to be out of our cabin early, we were able to stay on board for a few hours before going to check in to our hotel. We got a WiFi package and didn't use all the date. We also got one of the laundry packages and that was great too. Loved this so much, we're booked on the MSC Meraviglia for November from Miami. I expect service will be a little different. Looking forward to it. Read Less

I am currently on this cruise with my husband, taking a break from the heat in Corsica. I wanted to write a review because I'd seen negative reviews online and I am just baffled as to how people would have any negative comments about this ship.. it is absolutely stunning to look at, the most beautiful design in all bars and public spaces, plenty of seating areas everywhere, it's spotlessly clean and while we have only eaten in the Marketplace (buffet), and will continue to do so rather than use the dining room, the food is really good. We have been on 2 Royal Caribbean cruises before so were a bit wary about trying MSC after hearing that they weren't quite up to the same standards but we both decided on day 1 of this cruise that we would never bother with RC again. We are Irish so we are European but obviously we have a very different culture from continental Europeans, and essentially, I believe lot of reviewers are finding fault with the different food and the guests (I've read a lot of complaints about people not queuing for food) yes, there is a bit of shuffling around at the buffet and yes, the food is slightly more Italian, with pizza and pasta always available but a) they are really tasty dishes that are eaten all around the world, and b) a buffet is always going to be a bit chaotic so if that's the height of your problems, consider yourself a lucky person!! Our room was ready fairly early and our luggage was there before we even got there, so it was great to shower and unpack so soon. Our room has a shower-over-bath, it's not a great shower: low water pressure and the shower head is fairly low on the wall, so anyone talk might find it very difficult to use! There are a good few families on this cruise, kids tend to be still in the main areas quite late at night but I don't find it a problem. The lifts, as many others have complained about, are a bit annoying, according to my husband who uses them more than I do, but there are lifts close to our room that operate as standard, rather than the unusual ones throughout the ship. Again, I feel that for people to be complaining about such things is just being overly picky. Embarking could have gone a bit smoother, the staff in charge of crowd control didn't do a good job and while people were given a card with a number on it, it wasn't clear that they were supposed to sit and wait for the number to be called, so some people waited longer than others to embark, which isn't a big deal, but obviously many people are tired from travelling to the port so it can be frustrating. Not a major problem though. The overall experience of this ship is phenomenal in our opinion.. lots of really beautiful bars, lots of good food, friendly staff and magnificent surroundings. Surely that's what holidays are all about! Read Less

We have been loyal NCL cruisers for years and decided to try MSC for a 20th anniversary cruise. We had never been in the Med, and booked a Yacht Club balcony cabin. The ship was BEAUTIFUL, the service was excellent. I loved that you were never presented with a bill or a receipt to sign for drinks etc when we were in the Yacht Club. All of the staff really seemed to go out of their way to make sure we had an amazing experience. Although I wanted to try the main dining rooms, I couldn't break away from the Yacht club and having all the staff know who we were. We ate breakfast a few times in the Yacht Club dining room, but we mostly had continental breakfast in the lounge; the daily snacks there were delightful. I also loved the tranquility of the lounge and pool area. We ate lunch twice at the pool size buffett and the Yacht Club manager--Alex (i.e. like the Hotel Manager but for the Yacht Club) was there and practically waited on us. He was like a dear friend acting as a host! The food on the ship has a heavy European / Continental influence and we are Americans. This was not an issue for us--there was always something we liked--but that may be an issue with some travelers. As an oenophile, the wines by the glass were a bit limited--especially if you prefer California wines, but all the liquor was top shelf, and I enjoyed trying a few new European beers. Honestly, I really liked the vibe of the ship and the travelers we met on board. We booked a Caribbean cruise for the fall of 2020 and will take our kids next time--the family pool, kids club, and zip lining looked awesome!! See you soon, MSC!!! Read Less

Superb embarkation at Barcelona straight onto the ship, this ship like other newer MSC ships is fantastic it has a great feel to it & instantly relaxing. It started badly though due to rough weather we didn’t sail for Ajaccio and spent the night in Barcelona for me the right decision made However the ship during this weather where everyone had to stop inside was a little bit busy but ok when sunny the ship feels empty with 5000 people on board even late at night there are always seats available somewhere and we usually sat at a bar before moving on to the next etc. The bars were excellent with a couple of standout ones that became favourites snacks were given out and depending on which bar gave different snacks ie nachos & dips in sports bar. The entertainment was usual MSC this time there seamed to be a emphasis on jazz which isn’t my favourite kind of music but hey ho ....... there’s plenty of bars. The shows were again MSC singers, acrobats, dancers making a 1/2 hour show theme being greatest showman to be honest the whole week was brilliant & highly entertaining perhaps I’m getting old, I could have easily watched the shows twice. Food wise it was a step up from the usual fare on MSC fro the other 4 cruises with them it was better in the main dining rooms & the buffets the specialty restaurants we only did the pan Asian was amazing & certainly worth paying for we was going to go to butchers cut but I instead had a huge t bone steak in dining room for €20 with a glass of red!! Our cabin again very clean, tidy & decent size was a Seaview at the front of the ship No5038 it was well looked after by the maid I only seen her in the corridor to say hello but she did say if there was anything let her know and she will get it for us I don’t think you can ask anymore than that! The staff throughout the ship were great and friendly I think if you approach with attitude they reciprocate it I did see it a few times but they were always great with us perhaps a smile Read Less

My husband and I booked this cruise as friends of ours had already booked. We had never cruised before so after booking we started ready reviews about MSC Seaview. There were so many negative reviews that we feared we would have a terrible experience. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. The embarkation and disembarkation process was flawless. We did not encounter one staff member that was not pleasant and helpful and all spoke English..some better than others but all were functional in English. We ate all our dinners in the Siver Dolphin Restaurant and had the most amazing waiter..Rogi..full name is Rogiroberto I believe. We also had another server named Chester who was excellent. We had an inside room, midship, and we found it very comfortable with adequate space. The food was very good...buffets were sometimes hectic as some passengers thought it was okay to push and poke their way to what they wanted (no fault of the cruise line). We did not prebook any excursions through MSC. At each port of call we simply hired a taxi to take us where we wanted to go and that worked out very well. We would recommend MSC Seaview without any hesitation...very reasonably priced and delivered a great cruise. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot understand why people on here say they experienced an unfriendly atmosphere and complain about the food/cleanliness and the staff. We experienced exactly the opposite. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The cabins were very clean and cabin staff so approacheable. Everywhere was impeccably clean and luxurious looking. There was a wide variety of food to suit all palettes and each food section was clearly labelled with type of food etc and even a large vegetarian section. The younger entertainments staff in their red tops were fantastic at getting people to join in and learn salsa steps and more on the Panoramic deck and in the Haven lounge. 'Feel the Magic in the Air' was the record which seemed to get everyone dancing and singing. The evening entertainment was a bit lacking with the duo (very enjoyable) and a solo singer taking it in turns to perform all evening. However, again the younger dance and excercise staff put on excellent evening shows a couple of times during the week. There were an abundance of sunbeds (and we did not see any collapse as has been claimed on this site). The decks were always clean and tidy as well as the pools and Jacuzzis. Our evening dining room Silver Dolphin was very good and our waiter was so polite, helpful and friendly. We did opt for the Special Restaurants package where you have 3 restaurants to eat at. The Asian Market was excellent (Lamb chops) but have to say that was the only one of the 3 we would recommend and we would not include this package in the future . As our travel agent told us that drinks were only supplied at breakfast, we also opted for the drinks package (362€ for the two of us) yet our Agent was wrong as drinks were available at breakfast, lunch and tea etc available up until 5am so we are quite annoyed with the Agent as we are not big alcohol drinkers. Beer etc., was very reasonably priced along with tea and coffee, so we probably only used a quarter to a half of our drink package. The ship itself was fabulous but we were not impressed with the ports as you have to either pay for an excursion or use a taxi to get into the towns (expensive). Messina in Sicily was the only port where you could disembark and you are in the busy area, lovely place. Embarking and disembarking in Barcelona was excellently dealt with. We would also like to thank the Captain who provided an unbelievably smooth cruise. Read Less

We chose this ship as it was brand new. We typically sail Disney but this offer was too hard to pass up. I would highly recommend sailing via yacht club. From the private butler to the private lounge, dining, service, it just made financial sense to book via yacht club. I would NOT book the regular rooms. It is way too crowded and sun chairs and pools were crowded. The lineup to use the elevators and the bar were quite long without the yacht club private elevator. My son did not use the kids club although it looked like fun. The shows were great as we went to each one. English was never a problem. Shout out to Marvin in the yacht club for being an exceptional Butler. I would recommend pre-booking the internet, the trio private dinners as onboard prices seem quite high. We are avid cruisers having been on over 10 cruises in the past 8 years. Lines we have been on are Norwegian (Breakaway, Escape and Jade) Royal (Oasis, Allure, Navigator) and Disney, Carnival, Holland and Princess. We selected MSC for three reasons...the itinerary, the brand new ship and the value (we got the yacht club experience for less than that of a standard balcony on Royal's Symphony) We have traveled (2x) in a Haven class room on NCL. I lay this all out to simply highlight we have experience cruising. The GREAT-- The Yacht club (unlike Haven) I believe has all of it's rooms in one central location. I think this makes it more amenable to use all of the amenities. In the Haven rooms are spread out all over the ship (and in the Haven area) and not a big deal to walk back and forth but generally speaking, once in the Yacht club it is really self contained and convenient for all of your food, drinks, pool, services. You get everything (with the exception of specialty dining, a few top top shelf liquors and chocolates in the case at Vendi) Example-- there are bags of Haribo candies at the Jungle bar, chips and then gelato several places on the ship. With no exception, all of this was included. We almost did not believe it but simply with a swipe of the bracelet (another genius invention of this ship) it was taken care of. The boat is brand new so in perfect shape-- keep it that way MSC! The room itself is probably one of the best we have stayed in (again for reference we have been in a 1 bedroom on NCL, a suite on NCL and deluxe rooms on Royal.) A woman had to have designed these rooms! Ample storage for 3 of us with 2 closets for hanging, drawers (some of which we did not need) shelves for suntan lotions, personal belongings, and even extra cabinet space in the bathroom. No joke-- I brought A LOT and I still had ample room leftover for even more. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the sheets amazing, the towels luxurious and the bed for our 12 yo son (made from the sofa) was an actual spring mattress with high quality linens as well. Typically it is a futon type of bed with hard foam. The balcony was good size although you could not fit a lounge chair on it so was smaller than what we have had on other ships in similar class. No complaint just for reference. Our room steward and jr butler were exceptional (Patrice and Tina) Rooms were kept immaculate and were cleaned very quickly as soon as we left them. They were fantastic We dined four nights in the Yacht club restaurant and 3 in specialty. Food in the restaurant was good, not great and service was good with Angelica ensuring her staff was attentive and kept reservations close to scheduled times. There was a bit of a language barrier (generally speaking all over the ship) On several occasions multiple explanations were needed to articulate what we were asking for and then in a few instances what was brought not what was requested. Nothing critical, just something MSC should be mindful of if they are attempting to cater to the US cruising population. Tepanayki was the best with Butcher's cut second and the Asian Fusion the least "wow" The sushi apparently was exceptional in the third but if not everyone is eating sushi, food was salty and meh for the extra money paid. Elena (the head of the specialty places) was fantastic and accommodating. The service in the specialty places was very good. The pool deck buffet in the Yacht club for breakfast and lunch was also very good although service there again a bit challenging due to language barriers I think and not a great system to place orders and then get them. Bar service was a bit slow outside of the yacht club. We did eat a few meals/snacks in the regular buffet (there are two of them) Pizza was quite good and they had a cajun turkey (whole turkey) that was sliced fresh for you that was exceptional. Generally speaking-- we did peak into rooms on other floors and they seemed pretty standard for cruise ship balcony style rooms. Again we have traveled on mega ships before servicing over 4000 passengers. Outside of the yacht club was total chaos. The layout of the ship is a bit awkward with some of the main decks requiring going up to go down. The whole concept of being close to the sea was super cool however we rarely went and sat down at pools outside of the yacht club due to limited time on the ship (5 stops in 6 days) and generally the chaos. The slides were fun and water park kept two tweens and an 8 yo busy for hours. There is not true video arcade on the boat (a great thing if you ask me) with a few bowling alleys, formula F1 car, air hockey and a few video games all for purchase) YOu had to pay for zip lining (which we did not do) however while the longest at sea seemed to be the slowest (speed wise) and very few people seemed to pay the 9 euros per ride. Where the cruise fell apart a little was as follows: Entertainment- shows were tragic - we went to 3, one was decent the other two horrible. Singing was bad, theme was odd, was not really entertaining. Singing and entertainment in lounges was also meh. There are some great spaces on the boat but generally speaking not alot of live music that was palatable or entertaining or where you could just hang out and listen. There were no comedy or magic shows. I could not even tell you who the cruise director was-- there was a long list of activities but rarely (as with other cruises) was a large part of the ship involved (newlywed game, sexy leg challenge, dance off, ice carving, etc) Maybe there was an we missed it. Overall our experience was fantastic on the boat but I believe it would have been a totally different experience had we not been in the Yacht club. MSC matched our status with other loyalty programs- a great move to encourage people to try. The app while on board is quite good, the website on the other hand was horrible to navigate and pre book dinners and entertainment. Invest in the on line experience pre cruise and booking. Add a foozball and ping pong table to the yacht club (the process to get paddles and balls was ridiculous in in the common areas) Invest in entertainment. The value we paid was well worth the difference in price between a standard room and the yacht club and we were treated spectacularly once on board. The other really interesting thing about MSC (at least on Seaview) is you could start your cruise in ANY of the ports which made some of the huge cattle call situations of all 4000 passengers a little less overwhelming and allowed you to customize where you wanted to be pre and post cruise (get on and off in Malta people-- the best stop on the trip and way too much to take in for just one day) We will book another cruise and would consider MSC however would probably only look and book if yacht club were in the cards and financially it was consistent with what standard rooms were on other lines. As a family of 6 (4 children) we decided to take a cruise around the Med. We chose MSC Seaview because it was a new ship and looked fantastic on the internet. It did not disappoint. It was huge and beautiful (I know, it's a piece of metal), but it was jaw dropping. MSC gathered our bags from the taxi and that was that, we never saw them again until we went to our cabin. Checking in was easy and we were made very welcome. The cabin was spot on - we have interconnecting rooms with balconies and one room even had a full sized bath. Everything that you needed was there. The beds and pillows were second to none and you even had a choice of pillows. The dining areas were lovely with great staff - food was really nice. We even had a rib of beef one night. The buffet area for breakfast and lunch was awesome with some of the best sausage & bacon we've had. We have never seen Shows like them before and we've been on a few ships. They felt like top-notch Las Vegas shows. The staff were legends. So polite and kind. I love the fact that someone would ask you if you wanted a drink around the pool and they would bring it to you without expecting a tip. The Port of Vellatta in Malta is a must see, although I have to say that the rest of Malta is very poor. We did a Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus and we never hopped off because there was nothing there - don't get caught out. All in all, thank you MSC, we highly rate your company. Read Less

Choose this cruise because of it being a new ship with a variety of activities to suit our different age groups and I can say without conviction that it covered everything that we were looking for . Great experience from embarkment which was very efficient, we were on the ship within 30min s entertainment was to suit every taste with a huge variety. We only dined in our allocated restaurant (silver dolphin ) 3 nights as it wasn't to my sons taste which was a pity as we had no complaint. Our cabin was a super family plus which was perfect for 6 of us travelling The only complaint that I would make was in the Hair Salon ,only because I run a hair Salon myself ,the staff were extremely rude and didn't care what the clients wanted , while I was having my hair done ( not the way I had asked for ) two of the staff were having an argument quite loudly while paying no heed to us clients , if my staff behaved like that I would have them leave the salon and sort it out away from any clients , it cost 41.50 e for a blow dry and I had to fix it myself afterwards Read Less

We, h&w and 18/19 y/o daughters just disembarked from a great week on Seaview. We flew from New York and spent a day and night in Barcelona (hop on/hop off bus was great for our jet-lagged selves to get an overview of that lovely city). We overnighted at the Hilton Barcelona which was fine. The next day we took a taxi from our hotel to the Seaview arriving around 12noon. Easy embarkation- they gave us a number and we waited a bit but within the hour we were on the ship. We cruised Divina last year and were interested in the new ship/new itinerary. We were on somewhat of a budget though (since we have 2 college tuitions to pay this year) so we opted for 2 interior fantastica doubles. This is our 9th cruise in 12 years and we love balcony cabins but in this case it made sense to do the interior and they were fine - would have been tight for 4 but for 2 (with luggage stored under the bed) it was fine. No table and just one chair so it really was not conducive for hanging out in but luckily there were plenty of places to sit inside and outside throughout the ship. I can’t comment on Yacht Club, specialty restaurants, other cabin types, children’s activities, zipline/slide etc as we did not utilize those. And other reviewers were kind enough to post photos/reviews of the ship but I’ll just add a few of my impressions and advise you to go to the CC message boards to find out other specific info! We were originally booked as part of a group of extended family/friends but the group fell apart prior to the final payment date so it was just us 4. I would say Seaview is great for groups as here are plenty of places to congregate! Our dinner reservation was for the early seating in the Silver Dolphin - (they have two main dining rooms with 3 seatings each). I wanted to switch the time and was able To do so later that day for the middle Seating starting the second night. Since we wanted to enjoy the sail away party we skipped the early (6pm) dinner and opted for the buffet. Loved the buffets (two of them open at different times but plenty of selection in each and most of the time no difficulty getting a seat - inside or outside)! We are from New York and have certain expectations when it comes to Pizza and the pizza on this ship (even with some strange combinations) was delicious! The food and service in the silver dolphin was fine but a bit too gourmet for my girls who preferred the buffet selections so we opted to alternate our dinners. I will post some dining room menus on the forum at a later date. We had 8pm seating and were easily able To make the 9:15pm shows if we wanted. Regarding the shows - I went to see 6 of them - I happened to like the Tina Turner tribute the first night the best and the another nights broadway show tunes/Disney song variety type with the requisite acrobat and dancers. Being American my taste was obviously geared to English songs so I would say they did a good job alternating the shows - they had some English, then Spanish, French and Italian themed shows and one or two with very little singing. As far as being English-speaking no problem at all… All the staff we ran into spoke some English… Most of the music playing was English and although some of the entertainment was geared to other languages it was easy enough to follow through if you wanted and/or go find some other type of entertainment well into the night. At any given time there could be two or three different venues playing different types of music/entertainment. We also tried our hands at the casino once or twice but for the most pa at any given time there could be two or three different venues playing different types of music/entertainment. We also tried our hands at the casino once or twice and Enjoy the parties/music they had out on the panoramic pool deck some nights. We did get off in each port but did our own thing except for the organized tour to Pompeii . We had fantastica drink vouchers that you get when you embark but my husband and I also did the unlimited package for drinks and didn’t need our vouchers but I had them in case my girls ran out because they also could be used for water, gelato, cappuccino, soft drinks etc - they had no problem using them and all we had to do was show our card. Speaking of sign and sail card - I thought it strange that the cabin number was on the card so if you lost it someone could access your cabin- I guess you could take a sharpie and cross that out and/or get new cards if you lost so no big deal. Since we sailed in the summer it was full of families and people of all ages. The ship was full yet never felt overly crowded. Sometimes we had to wait for the elevator but that is usually the case. We enjoyed hearing the different languages of the other guests and all shipboard announcements were told in at least 4 languages! It added to the international experience which is what we wanted when we chose this ship. All in all this was a great experience for my family- possibly the last cruise in a while so I am glad it was memorable! I would definitely recommend MSC and Seaview and although there were a few minor inconveniences they are not with mentioning here! Read Less

Our Cabin was neat and well decorated. We always had clean towels and our cabin was serviced twice a day. When we entered our Cabin, it was always clean and fresh. Occasionally, we ordered room service breakfast and it was on time. We enjoyed the swimming pools as well as the outside jacuzzi's. Can do with a little bit more shady areas in the hot summer months. The main Restaurant staff was amazing. Bit slow on ordering drinks in the bu-vet areas. The entertainment staff was excellent and was very different. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We chose the MSC Seaview for a family vacation. We embarked at Barcelona - the process took about an hour, but was fairly well organised. Our bags arrived in our room an hour after embarkation. Our balcony cabin was well designed and comfortable, though a little small. Closet space was adequate (plenty of hangers too btw) though smaller than most hotel rooms. The bathroom was well laid out, with a couple of shelves for toiletries and holders for toothbrushes etc, so my hanging toiletry bag, which I bought after reading tons of tips on this site, was totally redundant. The ship itself is brand new of course, the atrium is glitzy and the crystal stairs are the ultimate photo-stop, with just about everyone pausing to take a picture. We were assigned the Silver Dolphin restaurant for dinner, with a 22:15 seating which was a bit late for our son, and we went there only a couple of times. The Marketplace buffet was good enough for us, it had plenty of food options including fresh fruit and salads. We chose the All-inclusive Restaurant & Bar drink package, so beverages were never a problem, and we also got some delicious Venchi gelato as part of the package - so overall it was great value. There are plenty of things to do on the ship, we never got bored. The water-park and the slides are awesome, so is the zip line. The games arcade area is nice, we tried some of the games and bowling. There was a "fun pass" promotion for the arcade games and zip line that we opted for (30 Euro extra credit for a 70 Euro fun pass), so price-wise it was good value. We saw 3 shows at the Odeon theatre, Bizarre, Animalia and Fantasia, and these were pretty good, especially the acrobatics. While I registered my son for the Mini Club, he never actually used it, preferring to enjoy the water slides and games arcade instead. I used the gym twice, and as a regular gym-goer, found it to be quite well equipped except for kettle-bells, which I sorely missed. Service was pretty good overall, though the customer service desk and some of the bar server staff could be better. We opted for shore excursions to Avignon (Excellent), Portofino (Excellent), Pompeii (Good, includes an utterly avoidable detour to a jewellery factory that is a clear tourist-trap), Etna & Taormina (an avoidable stop to taste and buy honey, we wasted 20 minutes that would have been better spent at Etna) and a Jeep tour in Malta (Excellent, except the jeep wasn't really a Jeep, it was a Suzuki). Overall it was a great experience and an enjoyable family vacation for us. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely! Read Less
