"Unfortunately when we booked this cruise we were unaware that the passenger profile were primarily very conservative Brazilians, and as a gay couple felt very uncomfortable.Also all the entertainment was more focused on Brazil - which is ok if it was good, but it wasn't
The cruise with all the extras cost us 1OK and we wish we had just flown to Rio direct
The food on the cruise was also below par and the chef on the omelette station in the buffet was obviously not happy in his role
The positives are that the ship is new and kept really clean and the staff were generally excellent
The spa is beautiful and was quite empty most of the time, however the inside jucuzzi was always cold and when we mentioned this to the staff they said this was normal
I suppose we have to add in that this was around the time of the Brazilian elections and there was a lot of hostility around bolsonaro losing

SMOKING!!!
The stench of cigarette smoke onboard is disgusting. There is meant to be a smoking policy that restricts smoking to the starboard side of the ship and the casino. There is no smoking allowed in cabins of on balconies. Someone forgot to tell the majority of the staff as people were smoking anywhere they liked and the smell was awful. I’ve cruised with lots of companies before but this is the first time with MSC. We were a large family celebrating a 70th so the price of the cruise was the main attraction - I honestly cannot fault MSC on their child prices as it really brings the cost down especially when booked early. I was very disappointed in this cruise. The ship is huge, 14 decks and 4-5,000 people. As a result there was a constant state of noise and crowds. It was Easter week and there were many families. Children were up past when I went to bed.
