We were originally booked on a Panama and Alaska cruises but due to problems with visas had to cancel and re-book the Mediterranean. This caused a few problems with transferring of deposits which were originally refused but nicely resolved by Princess in Sydney (thanks). The ship was almost new. I think it had done 2 or 3 cruises before ours which we joined in Barcelona. Biggest criticism was the cruise was presented as a 28 day cruise but in fact was 4 x 7 day back-to-back cruises. Essentially it was like the movie 'Groundhog Day' with 4 balloon drops, 4 champagne waterfall, 4 captains circle functions and same food menus every 7 days, same shows, movies etc. - you get the picture. Thankfully only one muster drill. Food in the dining room was nice (but repetitive on a 7 day cycle). Wait staff were professional, engaged and generally excellent. Personally, I have never been a fan of buffets (on or off the water), so I can't say much more other than 'adequate'. Organisation of the stations and layout was somewhat confusing and always seemed to have at least one section closed/changing over. Dinner in the Crown Grill (a freebie from the travel agent) was nice but I do have an aversion to paying for 'specialty' restaurants on a ship. Balcony cabin on deck 15 was nice and fairly similar to others across most of the Princess fleet. Obviously new furniture, fittings etc. Everything worked OK for the full 28 days. Cabin steward mostly unseen who kept everything in tip-top shape. We ran into several staff/crew from previous Princess cruises who had been transferred to the new ship to assist a lot of 'newer' crew on the ship's (eventual) passage and home porting to Asia. It was nice to be recognised by crew from cruises 12-18 months previously. There were no port lectures (which we usually enjoy). Apparently they were due to start a couple of weeks after we were leaving the ship. As for entertainment, there really wasn't much of it and hope it was only a teething/new ship thing. The shows we did see were incredibly loud - almost painful. I suggest a set of travel ear plugs - they work wonders! The Vista lounge seemed a very wasted and mostly empty space. Full of mah-jong tables that seem to make seating difficult if/when something was on in the lounge. Not too many people seemed interested in the 'high-end' boutique stores. The bars they replaced were missed as it took away from the 'cruising' feel of the ship. We did a lot of ship shore tours. These are always expensive (not unique to the Majestic or Princess). Most were long days but enjoyable. Ports in Turkey were cancelled due to regional 'unrests' which led to multiple visits to the some ports and deletion of Malta, however we had plenty of notice (pre-cruise) and could organise accordingly. Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent with minimal waits. Overall, an average cruise which I hope will get better as teething problems are sorted. I will make sure about the 4x7 next time as it detracted from the overall experience Read Less

I have been on 25 plus cruises, however, this was my first experience with Princess. We booked this cruise strictly because of the ports. We arrived at the terminal in Barcelona at noon and we were on the ship less than 20 minutes later. Yeah that is great and all but they don't deal with credit cards or making any changes at the port; you have to stand in the TERRIBLY long line at Guest Services on the boat. By the way, you can't see a detailed list of charges on your TV or phone, you have to go down to the 5th floor UGH! No kiosks to make payments either. Really Princess? Unlike the other reviews, I thought the decor was nice. Simple and clean. My mom and I booked a mini suite but it looked like a normal balcony room with a large shower. Not a big difference at all. The walls were so thin that we could hear our neighbors cough and we could hear their entire conversation. Our cabin steward was great and I like how Princess cleans the room twice a day. I also disagree with most of the reviews, we had a great dining experience. The food was never cold and the service was great in the MDR. Princess offers one of the best buffets on any ship I have ever been on. HANDS DOWN! The casino is very small and they literally have less than 10 slot machine options. We found ourselves very bored after dinner so we spent most of our night in the casino. The entertainment is just not up to par. No deck party, no real club, Bingo is only once per sailing, etc. The karaoke room is not promoted at all. Whoever writes the Princess Patter should be fired, they don't list ANYTHING important. The Lotus Spa was well worth the money. I had a massage and 2 blowouts and it was reasonably priced with great service. Make sure you book your excursions ahead of time because the shore excursion desk is never open. I want that job for sure! I swear they are open 2 hours a day. The excursions were VERY EXPENSIVE but we felt safe being in a guided group tour. Their internet is a JOKE!!!! $60 for 100 minutes and I had to wait in line for over 2 hours total. Complete nightmare with 1 employee for 3,000 guests. Oh and the public restrooms were disgusting. I think they were cleaned once a day if that. Customer service is not Princess' thing, that is for sure. At times we even felt disrespected from the staff *cough cough Elena* I think that will be my first and last time with Princess. Read Less

Liked itinerary. Thought it would be a relaxing 21 day cruise (the way it was booked). Turned out to be three 7 day cruises with lots of transients. Menu was boring as it was repeated exactly every seven days. Upscale restaurants are more out in open than other Princess ships. Eliminated Italian restaurant. Replaced by Asian. Most common areas are profit centers with drinks etc. No private space. Kicked out of card room to make way for Art auction. The computer room and library are combined and it is minuscule. Rarely could find seating in adult sitting area in front of ship. The chlorine smell from pool made it unpleasant, even when you found a seat. Went to two or three shows and then did not bother. Costumes and stage sets were great. Music and dancing were unimaginative. Maiden voyage. Ship is going into the Far East service. It seems to have been built with the Asiatic market in mind. The ship was certainly impressive in appearance, the entertainment was good in the theatre, the service all-round was excellent especially in the MDR and Piazza bar area. The food was good in the MDR every night. Dined at Harmony the food was tasty but not sure its worth the additional supplement. The marketplace (horizon court) where we had breakfast each morning was a little disjointed, everything seemed difficult to find and spread out with no real flow. The addition of the bakery in that area however did work for me. The ship did lack bars and an additional entertainment venue due to it being fitted for the Asian market. We travelled with a 6 year old who loved the basketball court/football pitch, table tennis and pools. He did not attend the kids club, we did visit on embarkation day and the facilities looked excellent. (he decided not to go). I would travel on this ship again and would use Princess for future cruises. Read Less
