Paid extra for Club Class but nothing Princess advertised for Club class came to fruition, except for a mini bottle of red and white wine delivered to our room on embarkation. Bad/little entertainment, night after night. Public toilets were disgusting, blocked, dirty and no hand cleaner. Some areas of the ship smelt like sewer. Market place plates never cleaned properly. Shore excursions were a hit or miss. Some tours were not as explained on the brochure. Ship designed for Asian market we were told all the time and it seemed the reason for every problem including the lack of cleanliness and unhappy/cranky staff.Asked the same question to 5 staff members and got told 5 different answers. Actually some staff didn't even have an answer. Only the Chinese restaurant was enclosed, all other speciality restaurants were in public areas. Décor was new and flashy but, not easy on the eye. There was one person for internet, so be prepared to wait up to 2 hours for any problems to be resolved. Our mini suite was cosy but the balcony was so tiny, not sure dusting was apart of the cleaning resume for our steward. It was never done. Only twice he forgot to clean our cabin. It seemed as if the ship didn't flow right. There is no deck you can actually walk right around. Our dining experience was the only good thing about the trip. Food was always hot and well presented. The smoking area on the top deck has no shelter what so ever. Read Less

Disappointing is the only way to describe this new ship, its layout is way behind the times and poor use of space. We were on board for 3 weeks and found the crew to be disinterested, not very energetic and there is a distinct lack of supervision. The food is not good particularly the buffet where food is prepared elsewhere and left to serve yourself was not hot, bland and repetitive. The specialty restaurants are not worth the visit with the exception of the Crown Grille. The only good thing to say about the dining room is that the food is hot. There is no shopping to talk of on board. Drinks are outrageously expensive, particularly wine and buy by the glass serve is miniscule. Don't bother with the Casino, it is only a place to make a donation. The plus side is minimal with the exception of the in cabin TV which would be amongst the best in the Cruise ship world, possibly to make up for the lack of entertainment. All ports were outstanding and ship excursions overpriced. Read Less

Liked itinerary. Thought it would be a relaxing 21 day cruise (the way it was booked). Turned out to be three 7 day cruises with lots of transients. Menu was boring as it was repeated exactly every seven days. Upscale restaurants are more out in open than other Princess ships. Eliminated Italian restaurant. Replaced by Asian. Most common areas are profit centers with drinks etc. No private space. Kicked out of card room to make way for Art auction. The computer room and library are combined and it is minuscule. Rarely could find seating in adult sitting area in front of ship. The chlorine smell from pool made it unpleasant, even when you found a seat. Went to two or three shows and then did not bother. Costumes and stage sets were great. Music and dancing were unimaginative. Maiden voyage. Ship is going into the Far East service. It seems to have been built with the Asiatic market in mind. As a first time cruiser I chose The Majestic because even though the experience was meant to be traditional, I had heard that the experience would be casual with many options in terms of dining and activities. The ship itself is amazing and spanking brand new with nice decor, albeit a little to beige and gold for my taste. everything was clean and freshly painted and, very impressive indeed. I loved the cabin, it was spacious with a balcony and our steward was always helpful and everything was spotlessly clean. We used the World Fresh Market for most of our meals and the service was really very poor. The concept of different countries didn't really work as half the area was closed most of the time and the selection were poor and repetitive. This ship's downfall will be the lack of service. Not once was I impressed by anyone who served us and the crew looking after drinks in the pool areas were the most pathetic and walked around the area with sunglasses and shiny new waistcoats like models. Not once was I offered a drink and I always had to get up and go to the bar for self service. Im not sure that I would ever sail on Princess again die to the lack of service. Read Less

We booked this cruise in July, 2016. It was the week and route we wanted and I read that it was a new ship. We have sailed on a brand new ship before and loved it, so this sounded perfect. Unfortunately, nowhere in the literature back then did it say anything about this ship being designed for the Asian market. The changes made on this new ship did not make it as enjoyable as previous Princess cruises. The Food - The food in both the World buffet and the dining room left a lot to be desired. In the buffet, the food was always cold. The waiters were not particularly attentive as we have experienced on previous Princess cruises. There were two sections to the World buffet, and often the selections were different. We seemed to always pick the wrong side to sit on! Our best lunch was at the pool. We had cheeseburgers and fries. We really missed the pizza parlor that is by the pool on the other Princess ships. We ate dinner in the Anytime Dining Room on 6 of the 7 nights. We had an excellent waiter (Michael J) on three nights only! Unfortunately, on the other nights our waiters seemed inexperienced. Shops - The addition of the "designer" brand shops was not a good thing. Perhaps they will see more use when they relocate to their new Asian Market. Excursions- We did ship excursions in three ports. They were all very nice with excellent tour guides. We did private tours in Florence and Rome. Passengers' Service Desk- This was completely understaffed. The line was always long and moved at a snail's pace. On the first night of the cruise I stopped by this desk to get a small amount of pounds that we would need for a taxi on our return to the ship from the Rock of Gibraltar cable car. Our excursion was one way only and you had to find your own way back. I was shocked when I was told they didn't have any pounds. They "got rid of them" on the previous cruise! Spa - We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the thermal pool and took advantage of it every night after dinner. We also tried several sessions of acupuncture for the first time and loved our clinician and the results. Princess Air - This was the first time we used this service and it was excellent! We were able to select the flights and dates we wanted and selected our seats 10 months ahead of time. The price was cheaper than if we had booked it ourselves. Overall - Unfortunately this was our least favorite Princess cruise. We will definitely sail on Princess again, but I will select the ship more carefully. Read Less

We boarded in Barcelona great city. Embarkation easy. We liked the ports this cruise offered and being a new ship were so excited to sail on her, We were on the Majestic Princess for 35 nights Barcelona to Singapore for our trip of a lifetime. The ship herself is beautiful and new but not a ship for entertaining her travellers. The Piazza was always busy for line dancing and ballroom lessons it seemed, day and night, when the entertainment of Evolution was on board it was a breath of fresh air to be able to enjoy the music and dance but after Dubai the new band was terrible, very poor entertainment for a princess ship. Heddon Band great and Arny G great for relaxing with a drink in the evening. Grill Bar was the only place to be entertained but had to dance on carpet or in the passage. Cruise Director Dan organised nothing much for the pleasure of passengers, Paper Plane making, Juggling lessons, not for me. Bingo on sea days was good but costly for 4 games. We were bored most sea days as was many other passengers, it was very hot to sit by the very small pool area for too long. Food was good in Market Place but fruit terrible and not fresh. MDR food was good. Harmony Restaurant fair. Grill Bar Restaurant great. Chef's Table excellent. Vines Bar is great but only opened at night and does not serve sushi as on other Princess ships. Vista Lounge a crazy setup with the gaming setup. Karaoke Area never used so Lawn Bowls played in the passage of Karaoke Area. No great discounted sale days, the high end shops always empty. Most Staff were very pleasant and some outstanding but some really didn't want to be there it seemed and were not interested in more than getting through each day. Disembarkation was easy and Singapore a lovely city. Having met some great people on this cruise made it enjoyable but it lacked a great deal of Entertainment and the new layout for the Chinese market is certainly not to our liking. We missed Crooners Bar, Explorers Lounge, Wheelhouse Bar, Larger Pools, Wakeview Pool area. PublicToilets never working and never clean. Public areas often not clean. We love Princess but will not sail on the Majestic again, and hope Princess do not stay with the concept of this ships layout. Read Less

Me and husband have certain expectation when decide to go for Majestic Princess cruise ship, as most of our friends have very high regards of all the Princess cruises. Given Majestic Princess has launched on April 14 this year. We did 7 nights (cartegena, gilbratar, Toulon, Livorno, civittavechia) The ship is HUGE, but the overall services not being able to keep up to its size! What a disappointment becuz, no matter the services of photographers, services at eating outlet, food quality, wine selections, entertainments are not up to the standard. We expected the dining at evening might be much better, again, the food were not fresh enough, tasteless, often the food were luke warm, if not cold, when dishes arrived to our table. My room with balcony was pretty small, compare with other competitor. No couch or coffee table in my room. Entertainment programs were boring. Not sure if the management of Princess have the budget Issue or want? The ladies washroom right by the Theratre on deck 6 was dirty and smelly!!!! The staffs in the food serving area were impatient during breakfast! We paid the normal fare for Majestic Princess, definitely NOT value for money! What I can say is, won't choose Princess in future. Have to stick with other cruise ship. Read Less

We were originally booked on a Panama and Alaska cruises but due to problems with visas had to cancel and re-book the Mediterranean. This caused a few problems with transferring of deposits which were originally refused but nicely resolved by Princess in Sydney (thanks). The ship was almost new. I think it had done 2 or 3 cruises before ours which we joined in Barcelona. Biggest criticism was the cruise was presented as a 28 day cruise but in fact was 4 x 7 day back-to-back cruises. Essentially it was like the movie 'Groundhog Day' with 4 balloon drops, 4 champagne waterfall, 4 captains circle functions and same food menus every 7 days, same shows, movies etc. - you get the picture. Thankfully only one muster drill. Food in the dining room was nice (but repetitive on a 7 day cycle). Wait staff were professional, engaged and generally excellent. Personally, I have never been a fan of buffets (on or off the water), so I can't say much more other than 'adequate'. Organisation of the stations and layout was somewhat confusing and always seemed to have at least one section closed/changing over. Dinner in the Crown Grill (a freebie from the travel agent) was nice but I do have an aversion to paying for 'specialty' restaurants on a ship. Balcony cabin on deck 15 was nice and fairly similar to others across most of the Princess fleet. Obviously new furniture, fittings etc. Everything worked OK for the full 28 days. Cabin steward mostly unseen who kept everything in tip-top shape. We ran into several staff/crew from previous Princess cruises who had been transferred to the new ship to assist a lot of 'newer' crew on the ship's (eventual) passage and home porting to Asia. It was nice to be recognised by crew from cruises 12-18 months previously. There were no port lectures (which we usually enjoy). Apparently they were due to start a couple of weeks after we were leaving the ship. As for entertainment, there really wasn't much of it and hope it was only a teething/new ship thing. The shows we did see were incredibly loud - almost painful. I suggest a set of travel ear plugs - they work wonders! The Vista lounge seemed a very wasted and mostly empty space. Full of mah-jong tables that seem to make seating difficult if/when something was on in the lounge. Not too many people seemed interested in the 'high-end' boutique stores. The bars they replaced were missed as it took away from the 'cruising' feel of the ship. We did a lot of ship shore tours. These are always expensive (not unique to the Majestic or Princess). Most were long days but enjoyable. Ports in Turkey were cancelled due to regional 'unrests' which led to multiple visits to the some ports and deletion of Malta, however we had plenty of notice (pre-cruise) and could organise accordingly. Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent with minimal waits. Overall, an average cruise which I hope will get better as teething problems are sorted. I will make sure about the 4x7 next time as it detracted from the overall experience Read Less

I have been on 25 plus cruises, however, this was my first experience with Princess. We booked this cruise strictly because of the ports. We arrived at the terminal in Barcelona at noon and we were on the ship less than 20 minutes later. Yeah that is great and all but they don't deal with credit cards or making any changes at the port; you have to stand in the TERRIBLY long line at Guest Services on the boat. By the way, you can't see a detailed list of charges on your TV or phone, you have to go down to the 5th floor UGH! No kiosks to make payments either. Really Princess? Unlike the other reviews, I thought the decor was nice. Simple and clean. My mom and I booked a mini suite but it looked like a normal balcony room with a large shower. Not a big difference at all. The walls were so thin that we could hear our neighbors cough and we could hear their entire conversation. Our cabin steward was great and I like how Princess cleans the room twice a day. I also disagree with most of the reviews, we had a great dining experience. The food was never cold and the service was great in the MDR. Princess offers one of the best buffets on any ship I have ever been on. HANDS DOWN! The casino is very small and they literally have less than 10 slot machine options. We found ourselves very bored after dinner so we spent most of our night in the casino. The entertainment is just not up to par. No deck party, no real club, Bingo is only once per sailing, etc. The karaoke room is not promoted at all. Whoever writes the Princess Patter should be fired, they don't list ANYTHING important. The Lotus Spa was well worth the money. I had a massage and 2 blowouts and it was reasonably priced with great service. Make sure you book your excursions ahead of time because the shore excursion desk is never open. I want that job for sure! I swear they are open 2 hours a day. The excursions were VERY EXPENSIVE but we felt safe being in a guided group tour. Their internet is a JOKE!!!! $60 for 100 minutes and I had to wait in line for over 2 hours total. Complete nightmare with 1 employee for 3,000 guests. Oh and the public restrooms were disgusting. I think they were cleaned once a day if that. Customer service is not Princess' thing, that is for sure. At times we even felt disrespected from the staff *cough cough Elena* I think that will be my first and last time with Princess. Read Less

Wasn't overwhelmed to be honest. It was ok. Décor is very 1990s - dark and carpets are awful! Internet is a rip off .... and be careful to ensure that you log off completely if using the 80c per minute service on your phone. I had to report to the Internet Manager about this problem. A very grumpy individual and barely spoke a word to me. The gratuity of 13.50 daily really is too high. Staff were nice of course and they have a tough job to do. But nobody stood out as being amazing. The cabin was dusty from beginning to end. The beds were made everyday and towels changed, that's it. Don't buy the soda package. Bad value unless you drink at least 5 cokes per day. Diet drinks not included! Crazy! If you're a vegetarian, be prepared to live on lettuce and tomatoes. Sometimes they have a vegetarian dish but not tasty at all. I wouldn't go again. Read Less

We've cruised on all three ships in this class on their maiden voyages. While we had an excellent cruise, the Majestic fell short of our expectations given our experiences on the Royal and Regal although the cruising portion went very smoothly. We chose this voyage based upon the destination ports of call and the offered excursions through Princess and our expectation that as a sister ship it would be a continuation of our previous experiences. It was not. Pre-voyage we booked into the Hotel Hesperia Presidente through Princess, and booked air accommodations through Princess EZ aire. While the Presidente is a little more pricey, its in a great part of Barcelona, includes breakfast and has excellent rooms and excellent staffing. For our post hotel accommodations, we made our own arrangements for three extra nights in Rome, plus our own transfer service sharing with two other couples. During the voyage we booked excursions entirely through Princess. We had only one disappointment out of many and Princess refunded 40% of our cost. Our favorite excursion was at port of Livorno, where we did the best of the best for Pisa/Florence and had an excellent guide. Our journey included a five-star luncheon at the Villa La Massa just outside Florence, in the countryside. It included the Galleria Accademia (for the statue of David, etc,) and the Uffizi Gallery. Outstanding service from our guide. Our cabin aboard ship, was an aft balcony. While it was nice, it wasn't worth the extra money, mainly because we were never in it long enough to appreciate it and because we never had a great sunrise or sunset view. The food was unremarkable in selections but well prepared and served. Aboard ship, we were disappointed to not have the Sanctuary as we had known it from the Royal and Regal. Instead they have the Conservatory, which is noisy, lacking in style and purpose. Read Less

The Majestic Princess was beautiful. It was so shiny and new and smelled like a new car. We loved the décor and the newness of the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. There were plenty of elevators and the staff was wonderful. The cruise was quieter that most that I have been on perhaps because there was such a mix of people. Many Chinese and many Australians. There was very little sales push for the stores on board which was a pleasant change. The food in the main dining room was better than ever. The food in the buffet was very good, too. The Chinese Restaurant on board was not to American tastes. It was truly a Chinese Restaurant. Alfredo's was great and being free is always a benefit. This is not a cruise ship that young people would necessarily enjoy as there were few young people on board and not many activities that they would have been crazy about. The entertainment was not good. The strobe lights were shocking and the entertainers not good - except for the three tenors. The excursions were awful. Don't bother. The ports are small and easy to walk around. The itinerary was the reason that we took this ship and it proved to be a bit overwhelming. So many ports in so many days. Read Less

The ship was certainly impressive in appearance, the entertainment was good in the theatre, the service all-round was excellent especially in the MDR and Piazza bar area. The food was good in the MDR every night. Dined at Harmony the food was tasty but not sure its worth the additional supplement. The marketplace (horizon court) where we had breakfast each morning was a little disjointed, everything seemed difficult to find and spread out with no real flow. The addition of the bakery in that area however did work for me. The ship did lack bars and an additional entertainment venue due to it being fitted for the Asian market. We travelled with a 6 year old who loved the basketball court/football pitch, table tennis and pools. He did not attend the kids club, we did visit on embarkation day and the facilities looked excellent. (he decided not to go). I would travel on this ship again and would use Princess for future cruises. Read Less
