How can they have a Mo Town Review with no black performers? They put one man in a black afro... In other performances, wonderfully talented singers and dancers were stuck with mediocre material. The Crown Band was great. The Magic to Do show was fun. We liked Eileen Gray and the 3 Tenors. There was a problem with people saving seats. Princess needed to give out tickets and if people didn't show, open up the empty seats for standby. I would have liked to have known in advance the activities and entertainment, not just the night before so we could plan ahead. A full third of the ship was Chinese with limited English. It would have been nice if Princess had subtitles overhead as the opera often does so they could follow along, especially with the comics. The music in the atrium was wonderful and I caught the tail end of a band on the top deck who sounded great. My nook broke so I went to Princess's library...There were maybe 200 books with a very odd selection to choose from. Princess need to spend some money on enlarging the choices. We did not do any Princess excursions but booked on own for half the price and travelled in Mercedes Mini vans instead of a big bus. We loved the afternoon tea which was so relaxing after a busy day. The tea and food was exceptional. The food in the main dining room was good but not particularly adventurous. The steak was overcooked the night we had it. The vegetables, on the other hand, were exceptional. They were a delight each night. Read Less

The Itinerary and time of year was great. It was a repositioning cruise. Many people on board that do this as they fly in early to enjoy Europe and then get back to the US. The itinerary was nice and interesting. Most disappointing was the food quality and their menus besides had no flavor and was cold, when it was served at the sit down dining. This was new for us as the food quality and service was always superior. Many perks were gone from this cruise line. We always could get fresh fruit in our cabin, which was not offered this time, the menu was smaller for the sit down dining. Many times our head waiter was never around and his assistant only came at the beginning and end of the meal. The quality of the coffee at the International cafe was not what it was previously. The dancers, singers and band are always excellent. We have always enjoyed our cruises on Princess but this one was a disappointment. Read Less

We had cruised with Princess several times before and were very pleased with the ships and cruise line in general. We had a very easy embarkation and the staff made the process very easy. The ship was a little dated in decor although very clean. Our main disappointment was the quality of the food on this trip. We ate in the dining room each night and most of what we encountered was poorly prepared, although the wait staff did an excellent job. This sentiment was echoed by most of the fellow passengers that we spoke to on the ship, whether at the Horizon Court or regular dinner service. The staff on board did not seem as friendly and outgoing as in previous trips we had taken. The highlight for the service staff was our cabin steward, Ruby. She went above and beyond the normal. The ports on the Mediterranean cruise were very enjoyable. Santorini was wonderful!! The entertainment, with the exception of the one night, was just mediocre. Sorry to say we will probably will try another cruise line for our next trip. Read Less

The food leaves much to be desired. The food buffet was horrible. The speciality restaurants and dining room were a notch above the food buffet. The friendliness of staff was non existent. The staff literally herd you on and off the boat like cattle. No smiles, not a please or thank you . Simple manners were non existent even with a lot of the passengers. The rooms and ship were clean. The Beds are super comfy. Room service had a very limited menu . Good wine selection but remember the gratituity they add on w each drink along with the daily gratuity charge for each passenger. The entertainment was somewhat cheesy. Couldn’t wait to get off the ship at each port ! Best thing about the cruise was being able to visit Spain , Great Britain, France and Italy in a short time. I can’t wait to do it again but not with this cruise or it’s affiliates. Read Less

We have cruised on Cunard, Carnival and Celebrity prior to this cruise. It was a very mixed bag and some things we liked better but on the whole it was not anywhere near as good as Celebrity or Cunard. Pro's The wardrobe space was very good, lots and lots of room for everything and many hangers. The TV was large and great viewing The staff overall were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk service staff. Embarkation and Disembrkation were very quick and efficient. Great service at our table from Wait staff. A great Burger bar and pizzas and ice cream We liked all the different bars and lounge area, people could spread out so much there never seemed a full place Cons By far the worst food and drink we have ever had on a cruise ship and the single one reason why we would never cruise on a Princess ship again. Food for us is very important. The food in the main cafe was dreadful...on one day it was totally inedible. The 4 separate areas are confusing and on some days they were not all open which was confusing and very inconvenient as one of our party had mobility issues and could not walk to further areas. There was a beef curry that was so chewy one day we could not eat it. The head waiter was informed and he took my name and my cabin number ...unsurprisingly we heard nothing further. The food was pure slop and I have seen better food in school cafeterias. The lines at lunchtime for burgers and pizza were round the block, not surprising as the main cafe was so bad. The choices at breakfast were horrible and there was no fresh toast and muffins etc, you were expected to take one that had been previously cooked, cold and rubbery. Choices were about a third of that on Celebrity ships and it never ever looked fresh and appetising. Food in the dining room was hit and miss. Some was very nice some poor. I had a ravioli one evening that was just sheets of pasta with no filling. I sent back 3 meals in our 7 day cruise. Drinks were also very poor...especially as we didn't have a package so were paying as you go. Small measured drinks at 9-10 dollars that were not free poured like on other cruise lines, it was definitely nickel and dime time. It put us off buying the drinks they were so weak. Entertainment was also poor. 4 solo singers in 7 days is not variety and they were not that great. An unexpected day at sea due to not calling at Montenegro resulting in the entertainments team making a special announcement and going all out and adding ONE zumba class to the itinerary, funnily enough my 80 year old mother didn't feel like going to this. The tannoy on the ship was unbearably loud and when the screechy cruise director was making announcements you could see 50% of the people covering their ears, the music by the pool was also way too loud, we couldn't hear ourself think. There was also on the sea days a CD that was playing on a loop, about an hour so one day we had Gangnam Style and 'Im sexy and I know it' 7 times, it was unbearable. Sometimes the entertainment was not was advertised in the brochure. we would turn up to places only to be told the venue had changed or there was a deck party, again not easy to keep moving around if you have mobility issues Overall the ship is a little tired, especially the rooms and the balconies. Directions were poor and we found ourselves lost a few times, something we have never done on cruises before They bleat on constantly about keeping hands clean and using soap yet we all noticed that 2 out of 3 visits to the lavatories there was no soap. We decided to withdraw tips and just personally tipped or wait staff as we were not blown away by anyone and from Embarkation to Disembarkation I never once met our room boy, yet I knew the name of the gorgeous lady who looked after family members in the next few rooms. Overall a disappointing experience completely spoiled by silly measured drinks and school dinners in the cafe Read Less

We chose a Princess cruise because we had taken another Princess cruise previously and loved it. (Pacific Eden) We found that lots of little mistakes add up to some disappointment. I am not going to go into the mistakes but even though not large they are things that should not happen. Staff tend to pass the buck so in the end this looks very unprofessional. Also I think a lot has to do with the staff not having adequate training. On a more positive note, the ship even though it is old was great. Our cabin was an inside cabin and we found it to be very comfortable. The food was ok, this was a back to back cruise and we were onboard for 14 days so the meals where repeated each week. The Buffet was good but the food was never hot. We went to Sabatinis one night and were a bit dissapointed as the Steak and Lobster was totally overpowered by the sauce. The service could not be faulted. We also ate at The Crown Grill and it was delicious, the steak just melted in our mouthes. The staff could not be faulted (even though when we got there we were told we did not have a booking (i had booked on line and paid months before) we even received a reminder card in our cabin that morning. Thankfully they were not fully booked as this was our 40th wedding anniversay dinner. The embarking and disembarking at all ports was so easy and never congested. We were on the 7 day cruise from Barcelona, Spain to Rome Italy. We were traveling with our adult children, ages 20 and 22. It was a beautiful trip. We have never traveled with Princess before. It was very average, nothing over the top. I have definitely been on better cruises. The food was not the best. I have had food on other cruises where I couldn't wait for dinner or wanted all on the menu. The choices were nothing spectacular and the food taste was just ok. The staff was great though. The cabin was decent. We had an interior room. The bathrooms were tiny, not enough space for everything. Entertainment could have been better. There could have been more activities during the day. I remember being on other cruises and not having enough time in the day to do all the activities I wanted to do. Shows were nothing exciting. I have seen much better shows on cruises. The stops were beautiful. I do not have a favorite stop because I liked them all. Each place had its own uniqueness. Shore excursions were very expensive. We did two with the cruise line, one of which was disappointing because it was not complete. We got cheated out of one stop. The other excursions we did on our own which saved a lot. I would do a cruise like this again, maybe trying a different ship. I would also travel to some of these stops but want to stay longer meaning I would do a land trip. Europe was beautiful and we would like to have more time at certain places. Read Less

The Crown Princess is a beautiful ship. The food was excellent, the bed was comfortable and, to the most part, the physical aspects of the cruise ship were fine. The excursions were okay, acceptable but not truly exceptional. The entertainment was average. I didn't go to many shows but members of my party did. They were mostly underwhelmed. What was unacceptable was the extremely poor customer service. I paid a large amount of money to upgrade to a suite. Many upgraded services promised (complimentary sauna service, upgraded bathroom towels, daily complimentary bottled water, "pillow menu", daily fresh fruit basket, personal direct access to excursion staff, priority disembarkation, specialized Suite room service menu, etc) and (until I complained) none provided. Literally zero. My own cabin steward didn't even know that I was a suite level guest until day 4 (how is that possible?). Even after I complained only a few services (the ones I specifically mentioned) were provided. I gave up on the other ones. Paying extra for a "suite" was a complete and total waste of money. I chose this cruise because of its itinerary. I generally enjoyed the ports, with the exception of Marseilles where I paid $64.95 for a hop-on-hop-off tour that I could have booked directly for about $22.00. When I attempted to go online and provide reviews of my excursions, I found that Princess does not allow guests this option. Why not allow past passengers to provide feedback for the use of future guests? At Carnival's site, I can read guest reviews of the excursions offered at each port. The food, accommodations, and fitness facilities were comparable to what I have experienced on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival. The entertainment was disappointing as there were no performers from off the ship. My biggest issue was with the staff. 1) The first time I visited the lido deck, I got a 'dirty look' when I passed on using the hand sanitizer. 2) When I was locked out of my room and approached another cabin steward, he directed me to try to find my cabin steward. When I returned and told him my cabin steward was not in the vicinity, he actually left the room he was in and went to confirm my findings. When he could not locate my cabin steward, he finally made a call to have my cabin number temporarily added to his key card. 3)I was informed I was not "allowed" to bring food into Club Fusions (I had brought my dessert from the Lido). 4) It was also in Club Fusion where one of the entertainment staff was egregiously rude to a passenger who called out the answer in a trivia contest. When another passenger called her on it, she responded that she "didn't care" and "he (the passenger who called out the answer) could leave if he was going to do that." 5) Finally, I found the staff generally less friendly and welcoming than in my previous cruise experiences (this was my 21st cruise). On previous cruises, every cabin steward I passed had a greeting. Not on the Crown Princess. All this said, there were some staff members who were friendly and welcoming. Many of the staff members in the Lido met the standard of hospitality I have come to expect on a cruise. Also, kudos to the staff at Guest Services who were always friendly and helpful. I don't know how Princess manages it, but there was never a line when I visited Guest Services. Overall, not what I expected given the price and the Princess reputation. Read Less

The ship is old, the WiFi is terrible, especially for the price and the food was meh. The menu was repetitive. This was my very first cruise and I was quite underwhelmed. We didn’t even get the horn when we pulled out of Barcelona. The stops were absolutely amazing. Which is the point of the cruise I guess. Florenc felt very rushed, and it felt like we were led to shop in the ship affiliated store. Not that I minded, but I would have liked more time to explore. They need to specify the excursions are a bit strenuous for the elderly. Spell out the walking, rocky terrain, etc. some stops were too much for them. Not much to do for the kids, everything shut down at 11pm. Mid trip, the bathroom began to smell like a Porta potty Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the iternary which did not disappoint! Felt ship was nice clean and well appointed. Shore excursions were awesome. Food was just okay. Steakhouse was a joke and not worth the additional funds. Crew and staff were semi pleasant but not overly friendly nor helpful. Bartenders, wait staff, front desk and room stewards were delightful and seemed to care. My 21st cruise so i can tell a good one from a poor one! This cruise was okay nothing to brag about. The embarkation and disembarking was well organized and efficient. No complaints. The shore excursion organizers were the same, pleasant and efficient. The overall enertainment was lackluster. The comediene was funny and entertaining. There was a lounge act "too cool" which we enjoyed. The reet qas mediocre at best. I give this cruise a pass-average rating. Nothing horrific wrong but nothing terribly exciting either. C+ or B- We traveled as a couple with no other family or children. Read Less

There were a few hidden cost that disappointed us, we booked direct with Princess paid the deposit and when we paid the final installment we were informed that there was a credit card surcharge and in the fine print it did say that, we were informed that there was a gratuity surcharge of 15% but receiving the final bill it was 15% per person so our surcharge was 30%. Most staff deserved a gratuity payment especially our cabin attendant and the dining staff, but there were some staff members that did not. The photographer quoted us $25.00 for some portraits which in the end was $250.00 as the $25.00 applied for each photo. When we ended the voyage in Rome we picked up the bags in a big terminal and then had to find the shuttle bus, we ended up in the taxi row and after a few questions were guided to the shuttle bus line. Not much help here from Princess. A shuttle from the ship to the local rail station could be a good idea in the future. Prior to the cruise we received documents that indicated we would board at Terminal D in Barcelona and an email received the day before the cruise did not even mention our ship, when we arrived at the port our ship was not at terminal D. Information from Princess was below standard but the cruise itself was very good. We will try another cruise line for our next holiday. Read Less

We were extremely disappointed in the overall condition of the ship... They were grinding while passengers were up and about which spoils the Movies under the Stars... The ship's condition was not what you would expect... especially one just coming out of dry dock... the laundry rooms are few and far between (3 for entire ship) with 2 washers and 2 dryers per room... there were 2 irons ...one ironing board.. wall shows there had been one because the holes in the wall...the money box was broken so you had to go 2 floors below to buy tokens to use in the machines.. the detergent dispenser would take your token and not drop detergent...washer leaked water onto floor, no air conditioning in room..not a pleasant experience... example of cost $15.00 for 2 loads. Dining/Food: Loved the Slice and ice cream shop on Lido. Crown Grill was terrific but here again the cover charges for these specialty dining experiences is a little aggravating but we had a terrific waitress from the Ukraine named Katrina. We found the Horizon Court staff lacking.. Horizon Court had a fairly wide variety of buffet food... There was a congestion of passengers during regular meal times ... understaffed and attitude of staff was poor.. We asked for coffee and the young man pointed over to beverage area and were told to go and get it. Main formal dining rooms were not up to what we had on Royal Caribbean.. limited menu choices not the extra special dining experience you would expect. Disgruntled employees: When shopping in onboard shops you could overhear employees expressing their unhappiness with the cruise line supervisors. Excursions: The excursions were great had 1 or 2 that were weak but for the most they were great. The ports were great especially enjoyed Montenegro and Greece... Attended a couple of on ship activities. The card making was a young lady sitting next to a plastic containers of craft supplies and nothing else... No instruction just "have fun". The napkin folding class was a piece of paper with written instructions and a container of napkins... so it was try and figure it out with others at your table... One instructor for about 40 people. While it wasn't what we had hoped for for our 25th anniversary... overall... it was satisfactory Read Less

The Crown princess went into dry dock just before we boarded. Princess has now provided only Duvets. There are no blankets available, in fact the staff just smiled when we asked for one. The Duvets make too hot and one sheet is not warm enough. We went to the movies under the stars where Blankets were available for the taking on the Regal princess which by the way still had blankets but on the post dry docked Crown princess you had to sign them out and could not take them to your room for comfort. Apparently this no blanket policy will be rolled out fleet wide. So think twice about a cruise in nothern climates, those who love duvets will be thrilled. Two production show in an 11 day cruise The ports were amazing but the tour staff on board the ship were completely unorganized. We missed our first bus because of how long it took to get through the lineup. The excursion staff did give us a partial refund. Read Less

This is the second Mediterranean cruise we have done A previous cruise in 2015 on the Emerald Princess was much more organised than this cruise. Queuing up for shore excursions outside the Princess Theatre was a debacle and should have been managed better. The number of tenders used for some shore excursions were totally insufficient for the number of passengers booked on shore excursions. Never seen such chaos as when over 2,000 passengers were all trying to get back to the ship at Olympia resulting in the ship leaving late and causing further disruption to the next day's shore excursions. Totally mismanaged and unprofessional. We were short-changed on some tours which were cut short and not given full tours that were paid for. Felt some of the entertainment was boring - didn't need to listen to someone playing musical instruments - needed more exciting entertainment. The specialty restaurant covercharge of US$29 per person was outrageous. I believe it should not be any more than US$10. The menu's were disappointing. Some of the dining staff in Michelangelo Restaurant left a lot to be desired. Took ages for food to be delivered to tables, then it was cold. Menu for 21 days at sea was boring. Each restaurant should have its own menu. Tea & coffee and juice should be free no matter where you order it from. The drinks packages are outrageous - anyone in their right mind would not have paid it. Drinks are extremely expensive - passengers have to keep remembering that everything is in US dollars and therefore a lot more expensive than they realise. Hair salon too expensive - two male hairdressers had no idea on how to blow-dry with a round brush. Had to return to cabin & redo it. Read Less

Departure delayed by several hours with passengers waiting in lounges. Ship right out of dry dock but rugs not finished installing. New bedding and rugs plus new larger TV's were only apparent changes. Divers had to inspect underside of boat at first port as the thrusters were creating huge vibrations on ship, delaying departure by several hours. same thing happened at next port. Chairs in Skywalkers Lounge completely worn out and stained but not replaced. No more Happy Hour and drinks at Captain's Club more expensive. Menu offerings below average and not up to past experiences. Daily canapes for elite passengers used to be a plate full, now 4 tiny canapes for 2 persons ! Many people complaining about all kinds of problems like only a trickle of water in cabin, weak air conditioning, etc. Some of the laundry rooms were closed at sailing for maintenance, others had non-functioning or ripped out machines. Token dispensers not available on all floors or out of service. Several rest rooms had non functioning taps with "under maintenance" signs. Waiters did not remove lobster meat from shells like in the past even if asked Baked Alaska parade done at 8:45 p.m. on last day of cruise. Liked this cruise like all cruises but feel this ship was not upgraded properly at dry dock and had an overall feeling, like many other experienced cruisers, that this cruise was not at previous level of Princess excellence. But the staff, as usual is wonderful and makes up somewhat for the bad experiences. Read Less
