A cheap, cheerful but interesting itinerary, spoiled by an unpleasant disembarkation and offhand customer service.
"By this time I was one of very few passengers still outside the terminal, complete with distinctive, bright yellow transfer tags and still no-one approached me, there was no-one with a sign, nothing.I like the ship, with its many open decks for watching and photographing wildlife but the Deck 3 (promenade) layout is frustrating, with only one exit door per side, meaning long walks to get outside, and no circular route around the entire ship - apart from that it's a lovely place to sit and watch the ocean...."Read More

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Costa Favolosa

I hadn't cruised with Costa before, but with 5 other lines. The itinerary (Spain to Brazil) interested me as a biologist and natural history photographer, and the price was very reasonable, probably because the relocation nature and the lack of port visits meant the ship was (according to the crew) about half empty. My double cabin, for one person and no single supplement, was outstanding value ...

12 Days of Exciting Ports ...But Challenges With the Favolosa Itself

All us residents should read this review before opting for costa cruise lines (in europe) or this ship, the costa favolosa. If you are familiar with the “normal” us-type ships (e.g., carnival, royal caribbean, ncl, holland america, etc) then favolosa will come as a shock to you and the standards you are used to. i am not trying to be disparaging but simply stating the facts in comparison to ...

We chose the cruise for the destinations which we had not been to previously. The embarkation in Valencia was a fiasco and no assistance when entering the ship from Costa staff. Beautiful ship, we had a classic inside cabin which was fine. We did notice that the carpet wasn’t too clean but other than that okay. Went to buffet to get a bite to eat and drink!!! No way, it is only open for short ...

We choose this sailing because of the itinerary. We are experienced cruisers and have been on over 30 cruises. We had never tried Costa Lines but virtually have sailed with all other cruiselines including Norwegian, Holland America, Carnival, Royal, Princess etc.. We had thought how bad could Costa be? Firstly. when we boarded, our Passports were immediately confiscated When we ...

First and last cruise.

This was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to, but based on my experience on the Favolosa it will be my last. Initially boarding was a nightmare - only 2 people to book in dozens of passengers that all seemed to arrive at the same time. I have no complaints about the (inner) cabin, it was spacious with lots of storage. Suitcases went under the bed. The crew were excellent - very ...

It should be nice trip with my girlfriend and also first experience on the cruise with Costa Favolosa and will be probably our last. This ship is very poorly administered and lacks organization more than 2,500 people eating at two times, we could go for a dinner at 21.15 pm. We waited for order the drinks half an hour, the appetizer came in the another 15 min. We were charged for water, I can ...

My first cruise was only a good month ago with the MSC Fantasia so I don't have much to compare with. We booked the cruise on Costa Favolosa because it was pretty cheap and we had a good experience on MSC. We opted for the cheapest cabin without balcony. A few days before departure we got notice that they improved us to a balcony cabin without extra cost. Very nice! Embarkation was smooth, we ...

Worst cruise I've ever been on

With only 3 exceptions (our dining room waiter Mark and two workers at the duty free shop) everyone on the cruise was very unhelpful. The crew also seemed unfriendly and unhappy in general. For example, I went early to the breakfast buffet at 6am, and I asked multiple crew members where an open buffet line: each pointed in a different direction. I had more luck wondering around by myself. The ...

Just back from a med cruise. We had an excellent time well looked after by very helpful and friendly crew nothing was a problem for them.Food was excellent and varied although all meals had Italian theme. The shows were fantastic and repeated so you could have meal then see show or vice versa. The excursions were a bit pricey but makes life easy and hassle free in the short time you have ...

Very disappointed with overall cruise

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Costa Favolosa

There was no tea or coffee available after breakfast for the remainder of the day accept on sea days when tea and coffee was available late afternoon. We had to purchase tea or coffee outside those times. When purchasing anything there was a 15% surcharge on top of the cost of the item. There was a 20 euro per person per day gratuity surcharge. No butter for bread freely available ...
