Background My wife and I have just turned 50 (ish) and this is our 8th cruise, previously one cruise on Brilliance of the Seas and all the rest on Princess ships. We go for the destinations and are not shoppers and we don't use the onboard Spa's or the Casino. This cruise was for our 30th wedding anniversary and so we added the 4 night pre cruise tour of Madrid & Barcelona (we only do this on ...

My wife and I had planned for a cruise holiday about three months ago. Eventually the choice of the cruise ship was made based on the ports covered, size of the ship and the favorable member reviews in Cruise Critic. We were met at Barcelona Airport by Celebrity staff at noon and in no time at all we embarked the Summit in time for lunch in the Waterfall Cafe on Deck 10.  The whole process of ...

My wife & I have returned from a enjoyable cruise on the Summit,we booked cruise only, & booked our own flight with Easyjet to Barcelona.A few points here regarding getting to the ship. Beware the taxis, they charge for each case, some friends hired a taxi from the top of La Rambles & they got to the ship the reading on the meter was about 14 euros,he then added on the cases & they were charged 27 ...

Service This is the area where Celebrity still continues to excel and even amaze me as a customer. The service throughout every aspect of the ship was nearly flawless. Every detail, from the politeness of the servers to the way they served your drinks and food made it so special. We boarded the ship and received the champagne greeting, and since it was early we ate buffet/grill[ which was ...

Our first Celebrity cruise was in early November 2007 on the Century. Until then RCCL (5 times) was our favorite of the 5 cruise lines we had sailed with but the Century blew them all away. We tried NCL this May but were disappointed with the quality of the food... plenty of choice but poor quality beef. The cruise was booked in early October. We are flexible on dates and find prices drop ...

Having just read the previous review, I feel compelled to present a different side to the story. I was on the same cruise and had a wonderful time! Yes, there were a few glitches, such as occur one way or another on most sailings, but we refused to let them deter us from enjoying our vacation to the max. We had booked a veranda guarantee and were okay with our room assignment, a 2A room, ...

SUMMIT REVIEW I hope that this review is helpful and not overly detailed or boring! My DH and I have neither cruised before and selected this particular cruise for the destinations; cruising has made visiting Europe much more affordable than land-based tours. Our overall impressions: Ship-beautiful and still in good shape for its age. Cabin and private balcony were great, wish we had a ...

Still suffering

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Celebrity Summit

We took Celebrity on what was to be our first Mediterranean adventure last fall. While the ship was basically nice, there were many problems that made the experience unpleasant and disappointing: "sewer" smells in the halllway, back ups in the shower, less-than-clean balcony furniture, wilted flowers, and definitely second-class cuisine. The personal service that we had enjoyed on two earlier ...

Left Norfolk, Virginia and connected in Philadelphia for our overnight flight to Madrid, Spain. We took the pre-cruise tour to Madrid and Barcelona. Our tour guide in both places was wonderful. We stayed in 2 different hotels. One in Madrid was a classy hotel with wonderful food in the morning. We loved Madrid (not so much the graffiti). Seeing the Palace de Royale and the Prado made this part of ...
