We flew to Barcelona, Spain on October 30th, 2013 and spent an enjoyable days in Barcelona before getting on the newly refurbished "Carnival Sunshine." The Carnival Sunshine is the newest ship in Carnival’s fleet. They are considering it a “new” ship as it just went through a $155 million dollar facelift! This is the Carnival Destiny, that was built in 1996, that went to dry dock for two months ...
I really meant to get this review done much sooner, then I kind of forgot about it, and then I saw all the negative reviews of the Transatlantic cruise and, I must say, I am shocked--it hardly seems like these people were on the same ship I was on. So here goes:
Embarkation--things went very smoothly. The only disappointment I had was with the FTTF program not quite working out. I think there was ...
We booked this cruise for our honeymoon. Everything was wonderful. This was one of the last Mediterranean cruises for the Sunshine before it relocated to the Caribbean. Our favorite on-board activities:
88 Piano Bar
The steakhouse was phenomenal and worth the money. We got a free bottle of wine for booking on the first night
Trivia contest in the Red Frog Pub
The crew:
Fantastic as always. ...
Prior to departure I was a bit disheartened to read all the unfavorable reviews the Sunshine had received since its launch earlier in the year. My expectations were not high when we flew to Barcelona. I was excited about the itinerary not the ship. I am happy to report that in the end I give a couple of thumbs up for both the ports of call and the Carnival Sunshine.
I should have prefaced this ...
Chose this cruise mainly for the ports and a good experience with Carnival Spirit last year as well as good value. After refurbishment Sunshine didn't get off to a good start with early cruises not getting the best feedback so had major reservations regarding our choice + a long way to come from Australia for our dream Med cruise if it didn't go well. All this vanished once we got on board - ...
Having cruised most years since 2001 (wife was a travel agent) this was the first time for us on Carnival. It was also the first time I really spent time reading reviews beforehand, even after booking.
Now just back on 36 hours since 'debarking' or disembarcation as we Brits would say, I think it's fair to say that pretty much everything I had read before was true. Yes, there are some leaks from ...
For those booked on the Carnival Sunshine when it arrives in the Caribbean you are in for a treat! We recently returned from the 9 night Western Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Venice, calling at Marseille, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina, Dubrovnik and Venice.
This ship has all the usual Carnival fun and hospitality, but in a lovely package. The refit has been very well done, all ...
This was my second time cruising, and the first time was also with Carnival, and I have to say, my experience on the Sunshine was FAR superior to my first cruise experience. It is a shame that the Sunshine is moving to the U.S. next month, as I wish others could enjoy the wonderful experience that our multi-generational family group had on our Mediterranean tour on the Sunshine. Here is a summary ...
This was the second cruise my wife and I enjoyed. The previous was 3 years ago on the Norwegian Gem from Venice on the Eastern Med Route. Again we booked a stateroom with balcony and would always recommend anybody to spend the extra money for the relative luxury of watching the views from your room as you leave a port or travel along the coast.
On arrival at Barcelona airport on Friday morning, ...
Hi, this was our first cruise so nothing to compare to really but we did all rate this as our best holiday ever (previous holidays villas in Florida and all-inclusive in Turkey and Egypt)
Our rooms, 3 interior, were all lovely, cleaned twice daily. The beds very comfy. Only noise from some annoying females in next room. Soap, shower gel and shampoo provided. We didn't get towel for pool in our ...
