First time on a luxury cruise line - the good and the minorly not so good
"We encountered some bad weather a couple of the days, so there was a little bit of turbulent waters.I understand this is an excursion based line and I really appreciate that about it, so we weren't on board a ton, but we did have one day at sea and then another where we couldn't get into port for most of the day and they just don't have enough for people to do...."Read More

Nice Trip, but Problems!

For the most part, we enjoy Azamara, and this was our third, and likely our last, cruise with them. PROS: The onboarding and offboarding processes both went very smoothly. The life boat drill was short and perfect. Overall, the ship is clean, our cabin was nice, and the staff is mostly very accommodating. CONS: No champagne service offered during onboarding this trip. The only high end wines ...

Overall, I would give the cruise about a 4.8. The things that bothered me didn't warrant much of a negative review, so I wouldn't knock the cruise down too much. As for the negative things - I signed up for the cruise about a year early and didn't realize Azamara was going through changes and a new website/computer system set up, etc, and I signed up for all of the excursions at the beginning ...

We loved it!

After using Azamara previously, we were delighted to sail with them again. The voyage covered Barcelona (where we boarded the ship); Marseille, Monaco, Livorno, Rome, Sorrento; Amalfi and Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia ending up in 'Chioggia' (Venice) - a great selection of destinations. We had booked a Balcony Plus room right at the back of the ship and whereas the cabin was fine, it was a ...

We loved this cruise mostly because of the ports of call. The cabin was great as was our cablin attendant, Andre. However the food is only mediocre and the majority of the crew do not seem very happy. They force a greeting but seem put out when you ask for anything. We had four 18-20 year olds with us and they were treated quite poorly by the crew. Our friend's cabin attendant would knock on ...

AZAMARA JORNEY--GOING AGAIN

EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN -- My wife is a veteran of 14 cruises and I have taken 11 so while we are not grizzled cruise old-timers, we are no strangers to the sea either. She has more trips under her belt because she takes our daughters on one-on-on outings. September 27, 2009 my wife and I took a 14 day cruise of the Med from Barcelona to Athens with stops in Monaco, Italy and Turkey aboard the ...

We finally found a ship we like; we will cruise again!!

This was our fifth cruise and up to this point, I can say that we really don't like cruising and much prefer land vacations. We are definitely not the type of people who look at a cruise ship as a vacation in itself. Our sole purpose in cruising is to be able to visit as many different places as possible by using the ship as our floating hotel. We don't go on the ship looking to make friends, ...

Azamara was wonderful...could it get any better?

I normally don't write reviews on travel, but after such a wonderful experience I felt obliged to acknowledge the great product Azamara offers. Nothing in this world is perfect or guaranteed, but honestly, I don't think any cruise line could have done any better. If I had to say what set this cruise apart from previous ones, it would be the friendly and attentive staff, the relaxed atmosphere, no ...

Azamara Journey Barcelona to Barcelona - November 9th, 2008- Or a Cautionary Tale of an Adventurous Woman with No Means I had been eyeing the Azamara Journey's November itinerary that included Corsica AND Valencia since I first saw it earlier in the year. I thought I would never be able to make it because my work schedule would be too busy for me to take the anticipated 14 days off it would take ...

This was our first cruise on Azamara and my wife and I were not exactly sure what to expect. We booked the cruise on our Celebrity Baltic cruise a year earlier because of the great itinerary. Having cruised eleven times before, we liked a smaller ship which the Journey was (33,000 tons and 700 passengers). Besides the itinerary, we liked the fact that the entire trip was casual dress and open ...
