A great introduction for a first time cruiser

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Marella Discovery

We chose this cruise by sheer chance, having tussled for weeks with different options for a celebratory holiday for our 40th Anniversary. We were not to regret the choice. While the destinations varied in the degree of interest which they offered there can be no doubt that the choices catered for all tastes from the die hard scuba divers, snorkelers and swimmers with dolphins or turtles in such ...

The ship is very large compared to the other thomson cruise ships. The food was very good, although we did find the surf and turf not to good and was definately not worth £25 pp! The all inclusive drinks variety was very good, but god knows why they serve very good spirits with flat mixers? The entertainment was very good, but not sure why they have most of the late night activities in the ...

This was my first experience of cruising and ok some people might say I have nothing to compare it to but I disagree...I have traveled a lot so whether it be on a ship or air I still have good experience in the holiday sector. This ship is ran to perfection! the cabin, ok a little small but what the hell you only sleep in it ...the dining selection is second to none!! whether you do posh or ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Wind Star

We were on the Wind Star, 4-masted sailing yacht . While this is a ship that only holds about 150 guests, it seems like they have about 1 for 1 on the crew. The ship is well taken care of in all regards. The food is at least equal to bigger ships. Our Captain was on her first cruise as Captain and was available, friendly and got us where we needed to go. We found the cabins in the middle of ...

Ship was nice enough but it is only a year old so would expect everything to be shipshape. A lot of dark wood and dark colours, balcony cabin with setee was quite roomy and like the open wardrobe area. Found our way round ok, we did expect to get lost with it being a larger ship but not bad at all as long as you remember to go to deck 7 first to get anywhere. Food wasn't as good as we ...

Disappointed

We were very disappointed with the cruise. The Decor on the ship was understated and dull the entertainment was poor and there wasn't enough seats in the venues for the amount of passengers so had to queue for 30 or 40 mins to get in to a show which lasted less than 45 mins. We were stuck in a cold corner of the restaurant next to air conditioner and couldn't get changed to a new table. As a ...

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Braemar

Overall a good cruise, good ports of call. Not to many sea days. Excellent crew, very good choice of food. The minus points, the first two weeks no port talks, very few activities or lectures on sea days, the Neptune show lounge has too many loose chairs placed in it, you are packed in the lounge unable to view the show because of peoples heads and pillar obstructions, to get better seats you ...

Another Brilliant Cruise on Fred Olsen's Ship Braemar

We have travelled on three cruises with Braemar so we know the ship well. It is remarkable in the friendliness of the crew and excellent service both in the cabins, the restaurants and around the ship in the various lounges and services. The port and shore excursions are varied and the ship can get into smaller ports and avoid the need to tender passengers because it is comparatively small. The ...

Excellent Cruise Line

We have just returned from our first ever cruise. We went to the Caribbean on the Braemar and I had no idea what to expect but I am very impressed with Fred.Olsen cruises and we had a great time. The cabin was small but well designed and the space was maximised. A lifeboat blocked the view from the picture window but I was advised about this prior to booking. The mattress was comfortable and the ...

Myself and most others on the holiday became increasingly annoyed by the moaners who were determined to make their negative comments known at every opportunity. Most of us were having a great time and could not understand what the others were moaning about, it seemed like they were living in a parallel universe or that they lived a life of luxury back home. All the staff we had contact with ...
