Rarely exceeded my expectations and only occasionally met them.

Check-in in Barbados was an indication of what was to come. there was just on member of staff on the quay side. No champagne or cold towels and certainly not the line of staff used in the advertising and this was 15 minutes after check in opened. I carried my hand luggage round to the ship and up the gangplank. I was not offered a glass of champagne until after I'd had my photo taken and handed ...

My husband and I took an incredible first cruise from Basal, Switzerland to Amsterdam on the Viking Sun. It was a first class experience from the minute we stepped on to the ship until the morning that we left. Each included excursion was lead by knowledgable and personable guides. The extra excursion we chose was through a winter palace and hunting lodge and was equally well done. We can't ...

In the early stages of our cruise, we had a significant change of port time ashore in both Stornoway and Torshavn. The full day in each of Stornoway and Torshavn was reduced to just half a day and that was done without any on-board communication or more importantly, any explanation being offered. Whilst we understand that CMV need to get paying tour guests ashore quickly when at anchor ...

We cruised on Ventura in 20014 and had a excellent holiday,We had no reservations in booking the P&O Azura transatlantic cruise from Barbados calling at St Lucia, Antigua, St Maarten and the Azores, finishing at Southampton with a total of eight days at sea. We were aware the ship was scheduled a refit immediately after disembarkation. We chose an outside cabin on E deck with an obstructed view, ...

We plumped for a caribbean cruise as our first cruise because of the price. We booked it 4 weeks before going and got a great bargain. We flew on the Dreamliner from Manchester and found it to be comfortable and quicker than normal planes. The check in for the cruise was well organised in Barbados. Our cabin was on the inside on deck 5 and although small, we found it comfortable, and we were ...

I recently returned from a 12-day Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas. The following are some observations and tips that may be of interest to others. Overall, I enjoyed the cruise, the ship and the staff. I have been on higher end cruises before and knew not to expect the same level of service and amenities. With reasonable expectations in mind, I ...

Have cruised with Celebrity, R Caribbean, Costa and Princess, so have some reference points - ship is a bit tired, passengers almost entirely Brits, and although my wife and I had a great holiday, the frills were definitely missing. Some good points - smooth crossing and reasonable weather; main dining room food and service excellent; usual stuff like newsletter of daily activities provided and ...
