This was the first time I have been on a cruise, I boarded the ship in Barbados after a 4 night holiday there, I was a little bit apprehensive to do a cruise as I was travelling on my own as no one wanted to come with me, I don't no what I was worried about the whole experience from start to finish was incredible I only wish I had booked a longer cruise, I don't no how the cruise company put these ...

Pros & Cons

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Carnival Valor

The cabins were clean and well furnished; the food varied and of good quality. Cleanliness on board was excellent, with staff friendly and helpful. On the downside, mobile telephone reception on board was very poor and the wi-fi charges, high - .75 US $ per minute. The entertainment was disappointing for a cruise on a ship of this size. A couple of good nights' entertainment was let down by some ...

A 'Fun' Cruise?

How can Carnival Valor score 1* and 5* for the same cruise in the same month? It all depends on what cruisers were expecting. If they wanted a quiet, cultural cruise of the E Caribbean, they's give it 1* but, if they wanted a fun-filled family holiday, maybe 5*. I gave it 3* and here's why. CV is a big ship with 3450 passengers and 1200 crew. Built in 2004, it has hideous decor in the public ...

A Lot to Be Desired

The best part of the cruise, other than the ports, was embarkation. While most passengers had embarked in San Juan, which likely resulted in a swarm of people, we decided to board in Barbados. This was a great choice (passengers can do 7 days from Barbados to Barbados, instead of San Juan to San Juan), as we were in the boat within minutes of arriving at the port. Food: Obviously, a major part of ...

This was our first cruise so we didn't know what to expect. What a wonderful experience. We were totally spoilt and looked after the whole time. We chose a balcony cabin which was great as we could watch as we came into port each morning. Our stateroom was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Carmello who looked after us kept our room spotless and was on the end of the telephone if we needed him. ...

Never again! Where do I start ! Firstly boarded at Barbados thinking this was the start of the cruise. Was surprised at the funny check in procedures only to find out we were boarding mid cruise and it actually started from San Juan 3 days earlier. So we missed out on a lot of things because of that. First impression of decor etc was CHINTZY and in your face. Some of the layout of the ship was ...

My husband and I cruised from Barbados with two teenagers 3 years ago on Carnival Victory. This time we cruised with friends who haven`t visited the Caribbean before. We thought this would be the best way for them to see so many islands combined with hotel stay in Barbados as Carnivals ittinery was the best although they have dropped Dominica since last time which allows for a sea day. The ...
