We chose this cruise because of the opportunity to travel in a sailing ship. It more than fulfilled our expectations, with the ship travelling under sail for much of the journey.
The ship itself is beautifully furnished with wood panelling and brass fittings.
The weather was fine throughout so we spent a lot of time on deck, but the public rooms were lovely and very relaxing.

We went for Marella as have been with them lots of times before and always the best for entertainment. However, we were disappointed with the shows in the first week, although they improved by the second week. We understood the team had not been together long and also that another production company are involved with explorer, and it showed.
Not impressed with the Cruise Director, except for ...
Being first time cruisers my partner and myself decided to go with TUI due to the all inclusive option to give us peace of mind and the excellent value for money!. We travelled to Barbados where we embarked the ship for a fortnight. From start to finish the holiday was the most amazing, unforgettable experience.
Flights - we upgraded to premium and will continue to do in the future as it ...
I spent a week on this ship and had a great time , all the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you . We were in cabin 1055 and our housekeeping team were great especially Lubaib pinto and Barnard they went above and beyond, it was me and MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY when we were on board the ship and they made it extra special for us by decorating our cabin with lights, banners and they ...
We spent the 2 weeks around New Year on this ship and were very impressed. They did a great job of the Hogmanay Party one of the best I have been to. Great Night. We will be back!
Staff on the ship are 5*. I was told that they range from over 45 different countries but whoever did the hiring and training deserves a promotion. So proactive and helpful.
Loved the way they take you straight ...
After encouragement from myParents that Marella cruises were not just for the over 50’s- I booked for me and my husband (both in early thirties) to celebrate new year in the Caribbean.
Embarkation was seamless- very informative staff and our cars were at our cabin right after we left the muster station briefing.
The food and drinks available are plentiful and something for everyone (inc ...
We chose this cruise because it departed from Barbados and because we have cruised with Thomson/Marella before and have always had an enjoyable time.
We cruised November 17-24 and travelled the southern Caribbean: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Grenada and St Lucia.
On Explorer 2 it was good to have more options to eat from and lots of different lounges to relax in. The crew has to be some of the ...
If you like being herded on huge ships, this is not for you. If you enjoy dodging electric carts on board, this is not for you. If you want to be in a crowded theatre, this is not for you. If you like to pay extra to get the best dining selections, this is not for you. If you take youthful children and have someone entertain them, this is not for you. If you need to stop a large, overcrowded ports ...
We stayed 3 nights at the Radisson Aquatica in Bridgetown before we boarded the Royal Clipper. This was a good way to acclimatized to the lovely warn weather as we have had a long cold winter in southern Ontario. The hotel was old and in need of some updates but the staff was wonderful.
On Mar 2nd we boarded the Royal Clipper and were amazed by the efficient and quick check in procedure. we ...
We sailed on Royal Clipper before around the Windward Isles a few years ago after twice seeing the ship at anchor whilst on Caribbean holidays. After a great experience decided that the Grenadines would be even better. We usually visit smaller hotels in the Caribbean a couple of times a year and holidays on huge cruise liners are not for us. We do not sail at home and Royal Clipper is a sailing ...
