Walt Okon =Review of GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS on 5- 14 September 2019 in room Grand Suite #8016 Grand Suite # 8016 is located on the eighth deck, port side (Left Side) of the ship. 1/3 of the way from the bow of the ship. Stateroom Attendant was Dominic Moses. He was excellent in all respects. This room was perfectly clean and set up for us. We use sanitizer wipes on everything and inside every drawer. There was no dust anywhere. Temperature control: the system worked perfectly, best control of any room I every had. The mini refrigerator keeps everything very cold. Lighting: Excellent on the complete lighting system and controls. Balcony: Large with table and four chairs and two excellent lounge chairs. Bed: King size with luxurious bedding. The mattress was good but did have the middle high point. We had good sleep every night. Storage: Three large hanging closets and 16 drawers. Lots of storage. The only concern was noise from the ninth deck (pool deck) when they moved furniture, the noise was unbearable. Crew Staff: All very friendly and all were excellent. I cannot say enough excellent things about them. Food: Royal Caribbean food quality has diminished in the past five years because Royal in buying bulk frozen foods that are just cook. Example; hash brown potatoes come in the perfect size and portion that are just fried and served. These and many others are not fresh, but frozen stock. Now York stake and prime rib is so thin the quality taste is not possible. Frozen prepackaged items are served with excellent presentation; but the fresh taste is not there. Royal food quality had been diminished over the years. This is due to Royal Caribbean corporation doing mass food buys/contracts. The corporation is buying food in mass like McDonalds. Cooks can only do their best with the food supplies provided by the corporation. Clam Chowder was soupy and tasteless – worst clam chowder ever. Crab Cake tasted more of bread consistency than crab. Minestrone soup at lunch in Gatsby served with the soup spilled over the cup and down into the serving dish -poor presentation. Dining Room: Great Gatsby main dining is on deck 4 and 5. The staff of head waiters, waiter, and assistant waiters have maintained this restaurant with grandeur and excellence. Dress is formal on formal nights and Smart casual at all other times. Head waiters, waiter, and assistant waiters were all excellent to outstanding. Food quality is only fair to good (3 stars at best). Again, this is due to Royal Caribbean corporation doing mass food buys/contracts. Cooks can only do their best with the food supplies provided by the corporation. Specialty Restaurant: Chop Grill. We had an excellent and very pleasant breakfast in the Chop Grill every morning. Fine dining, perfectly clean lining and dining setting every time. Waiters all excellent. They were very attentive and receptive to all special dining request. Excellent food preparation and presentation. Some frozen prepackaged items are served with excellent presentation; but the fresh taste is not there. Crown & Anchor: Diane Megumi, Loyalty Ambassador Miss Diane Megumi was the Loyalty Ambassador on this cruise. She made herself available and attentive to every question and need. She is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the Royal programs and knows how to provide solutions quickly. I personally brought a new first-time cruiser couple to her and she quickly enabled them as Crown & Anchor members. Concierge Lounge: Dudley Jean, Concierge Concierge Club Lounge is on Deck 11 is a private club lounge with a very advantageous view is the ship and ocean. It is a sound proof room enabling quiet conversations. It is managed by Concierge Dudley Jean and two attentive bar waiters. The ambience is excellent. Continental breakfast and special coffee were not always set up and ready in the lounge daily at 7:00 AM. Diamond Lounge: Ilona Tsyhaniuk, Diamond Concierge The Diamond Lounge is open to Royal Diamond member only and on this Grandeur of the Seas trip 5-14 Sep2019 is managed by Concierge Ilona Tsyhaniuk. She is excellent and is the best concierge I have had on Royal. She has been the most responsive to all needs and questions. The presentation of snacks and refreshments is very well done always looking fresh and inviting. The only and big problem is that the Diamond lounge is not a room that is quiet. It is only a participation space. The wall does not reach the ceiling and the noise from the South Pacific Lounge is unbelievable loud some time making conversation impossible. Guest Services: Adelaida Contreras, Senior Guest Services Officer provided service quickly and efficiently. Her personality and smile made us comfortable as she fixed a problem on the first hour we were on the ship. Salon & Spa appointments: On 12 September 2019, Mrs Go-Okon had a spa appointment for 11:15 AM. Mrs. Go-Okon arrived at 11:10 AM early for the appointment. The Spa front desk person told her to sit down and wait even though there were no other customers. But, the desk receptionist, services two other white woman while ignoring her and not calling her back after she finished with the white customers. Was Mrs Go-Okon being ignored because she is Asian? After being ignored and waiting twenty minutes, Mrs Go-Okon went to the desk again explained she has an appointment at 11:15 AM. The new receptionist said she would get some one. She cam back in five minutes and brought Mrs Go-Okon into a treatment room. The Spa treatment started at 11:50 AM which is 35 minutes scheduled appointment of 11:15 AM. Mrs Go-Okon is stating, “I felt DISCRIMINATED upon because of the way I was TREATED!!” Special Staff Recognition: Becknar Bermudes, Royal Caribbean Dance Instructor is an excellent dance teacher. She is always smiling, friendly before and after sessions with guests. She is genial, kind, and patient in all things and a shining star representing Royal Caribbean. She is one of the hardest working staff personnel I have seen. She is everywhere, helping everyone. Sarah Jane Ete, Windjammer Attendant is outstanding in serving her guests. She is quick to server the needs of the guests as she constantly observing their needs and how she can be helpful. She has a maturity about her in the Hotel management and serving field. She has excellent communications skills and is easy to talk sharing thoughts and ideas. Dickerson Lacsamana, Assistant Maitre d’ is an outstanding leader and manager. We have observed him for nine days and it is evident the entire restaurant staff look to him for leadership and guidance. Resolving problems and guiding staff with a gentile smile is an attribute that is in high demand. Recommend Royal Caribbean consider him for promotion into leadership position with complexity. Keith Sepulveda, Receptionist and hand sanitizer at the entry of the Windjammer Café’. This lady was an outstanding smiling welcome to the Windjammer. She brought smiles to our face every day. In fact, we looked forward to seeing her. She deserves recognition. Over-All Rating Outstanding. It is the friendlest Royal ship. I recommend it Walt Okon, Springfield, Virginia Read Less

We enjoyed cruising on the Pride. Leaving from Baltimore is a plus. Only a 30 minute drive from home. Check in was a breeze, they had a good system that was quick. Slowed down to take a picture for memories. Boarded ship nlt 1pm and room was ready by 2pm. Met our stateroom steward, Tegum. He kept our room tidy and requests handled in a timely manner. This was our fifth time on the Pride. Our first stop was to Guy's Burger and we were not disappointed. The burgers are juicy, the extras are plentiful and the fries are just as delicious. Menu in dining room was okay, but we did try the sushi bar (the boat for Two) was more than enough, especially with soup and salad and a drink. We celebrated my birthday and Teguh surprised me with discounts for Spa and tours. We had an obstructed view balcony. Dr E, the Cruise Director was very entertaining and the highlight of the cruise. Itinerary was changed due to Dorian. We stopped at Amber Cove. The port had a variety of stores, restaurants, activities and beaches. The people were very nice and the port offered free wifi. We look forward to returning to Amber Cove in the future. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon. We loved the ship, the only complaint that I really have is the amount of seating that was available on the Serenity Deck. We thought it would be a quiet, peaceful area to relax during the day and it was a fight to get a chair unless you got there by 7 am to claim a chair. We had the best time in The Piano Bar, The Alchemy Bar and the Atrium bar. Specifically at the Piano Bar, the bartender MJ and Mike at the piano, Dejan and Inga at the Alchemy Bar. We discovered the piano bar on our second night after we went to the 88 Keys show, which was absolutely amazing, and we had a blast singing a long with Mike. We went back several times over the week we were at sea. Dejan and Inga were amazing and absolutely the most friendly bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They were personable, and by Friday had our drinks already in the works as soon as we sat down as they discovered what our favorites were. I wish they were local! Read Less

We took the train from North Carolina the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across from the Casino. The hotel was clean but unremarkable. We were pleasantly surprised to see others who would be sailing with us there along with at least one Pinnacle couple. The shuttle from the hotel was already full for the early times so we decided to Uber it over. Less than $20 with tip. As we were arriving some of the folks from the previous sailing were still milling about and looking for their rides. The site did not have a lot of signs and we had to carry our checked luggage over to trams to be loaded. Since we were so early, we grabbed a bench outside and less than 15 minutes later someone got us and we went through security and to the check-in process. Mostly painless, but the brace on my wife's leg seemed to puzzle the security people. Still, we were one of the first checked in and shown the suite lounge. In the lounge, we were joined by some others including a nice couple cruising by themselves without their kids and family. Hi Tim and Tracy! We joked about the "difficulties" of getting to the port but agreed this was a smooth process. After about 15 minutes, they came and got us. As I mentioned, my wife had a knee brace from a broken leg and we got to enter the ship from deck 1 and not have to use the gangway. A nice option for those with mobility issues. At 10:03 we were on the pool deck and heading for the bar. We had the deluxe beverage package and wasted no time using it. It was a bit of a splurge, but we checked prices and got a great deal. In my opinion, the package is great because it offers you the ability to not worry about getting a drink. We waited for the Windjammer to open and called family and friends to let them know that vacation had started and they wouldn't likely hear much from us except pictures on Facebook of us having a good time! The food in the Windjammer was always good and varied. Most of the times the crowds were not too bad except at the made to order egg line. My wife mentioned a couple of times that the food was a little cool. I didn't think that myself. We split our breakfasts from the Windjammer and the main dining room. The Windjammer is more convenient, but we like the fact that you can sit with different people each day and have some great conversations. We did Mytime dining and had the same waiter and assistant waiter (Michael and Derick). They were wonderful and took amazing care of us. We skipped dinner on the first day in Bermuda since our tour got back late and ate at Giovanni's one night, but our MDR experience was outstanding. We hadn't eaten at Giovanni's before since my wife doesn't eat pasta, but we did it this time because I had to try the Pasta Carbonara. It was good. I did try small portions of several portions of pasta as well as shrimp and my wife had a filet. All was very good and we agreed that we would have to eat at Giovanni's again. We loved the entertainers that we saw, but we were disappointed by the ruckus in the comedy show the last night. We weren't there, so I'm not going to go further into it. There were some very talented guests and the karaoke performances were great. We actually gravitated to the Schooner bar by the end of the cruise. At night, we were entertained by the piano player, Danny Burgess, he was great at pulling the guests into his performance and even got several ladies to sing along clucking like chickens including my wife. He is out of Texas and had to fill in for Giovanni who got sick the cruise before ours. If you get a chance to hear Danny, don't pass it up. On Bermuda, we did a private tour with another couple with Quinton Bean and got an amazing tour of the islands and their history. The only complaint I have is the fact that we didn't dock until 2 PM and much the island slows down or shuts down in the late afternoon. It didn't help that we got there on a Saturday. Sunday was even slower and the weather was bad - nasty storms and lightning. We planned on going to Horseshoe Bay, but the weather kept us at the dockyard - most of which was closed. Nassau was Nassau, nothing remarkable. On Coco Cay, we rented a Chill Island Cabana(Oceanfront when we booked it). They revamped the cabana area with the whole Perfect Day relaunch. It was still a great time and having the nice calm cove with all the fish was great. For the right price, I'd do it again. The best part of this cruise and was the core group that was part of the Roll Call page. We had a meet and Mingle hosted by John and Katrina Blair and some of us did an impromptu cabin crawl. Definitely some ideas for future cruises. We do junior suites but are now on the lookout for aft view JSes and good prices on full suites. We have sailed on Grandeur before, but will she has aged some, you'd not be able to tell by looking at her and the crew and service are still the best part of a trip on "Lady G"! Read Less

Chose this cruise because it was a 14 day Journey going to 4 locations not previously visited. Embarkation was briefly delayed by the ship's late return due to weather. Once aboard, everything went tremendously well. Our cabin stewards "Made and B" kept our cabin perfectly clean throughout the cruise. Our dining servers "Mohammad, Joel, and Augustika," were wonderful individuals who exceeded our needs at every dinner. We booked 3 excursions through Carnival: St. Thomas, Antiqua, and Grenada.. We were really pleased with all but the one on Grenada. Our driver was apparently new and had to follow another van. He didn't speak much and gave very little information about the island. We complained at the excursion desk aboard ship and received a 25% discount. The entertainment was truly enjoyable each evening. The cruise director "Dr. E," ensured that everyone had a good time. He was funny and very engaging. In all cases we were pleased with the quality of the food in the dining room and on the Lido deck. The ship is going into dry dock next month for an overhaul which is needed because of some wear and tear. Read Less

The fog delayed our boarding by a couple hours. Luckily my hotel allowed us to stay in their lobby. Once it was our time to arrive it took all of maybe 15 minutes from getting off the shuttle to getting on the ship. It was very quick. We heard a staff member say that rooms were ready and they were! 2 of our bags were delivered within a couple hours and the 3rd a couple hours after that. I spent a lot of time at the pool due to slight sea sickness. Loved the pool area for people watching and relaxing. I can definitely say no one watches lounge chair hogs as one guy was gone for over 3 hours from his chair and no one did anything. If I were not such an introvert I would have given it to the attendant as the pool area was always full from 10am to about 3pm. The pool side cleaners were slow. Cups and plates could be around for 30 minutes or 2 hours. Pool Side waiters disappeared after 2:30 or so. Granted, almost no one was drinking in the pool area...ever. Demographics I'd say. Dinner staff was shy at first. Took about a week to get comfortable with each other and then we had a blast! Best waitstaff ever. I did notice and was surprised one night when a tablecloth was out that had many worn spots, threadbare, and a stain. Doesn't stop me from eating so I didn't say anything. Was just surprised. Food was very good. Steak not always cooked how you requested, but they would fix if you wanted. Fully willing to bring you someone else if you didn't like anything. They even made special accommodations for a picky vegetarian (she doesn't like most veggies!) at our table by showing her the menu the night before in case they needed to tweak a dish just for her. The ports were pretty good. Antigua had the best tour guide, St. Thomas would make the best place to retire to, Puerto Rico made me feel the most comfortable on my own, St. Lucia was the pretties landscape, St. Maarten has a cool spot to watch airplanes go over your head, Grenada didn't have much to offer, Grand Turk has the best beach access. I'm forgetting one. I've already booked this cruise again for the next year. Read Less

This was a 10 year Anniversary cruise for me and my husband. We had an ocean view cabin and it was wonderful! Our room attendant Jay was very attentive. He kept ice in our ice bucket the entire cruise. We did a few excursions through the cruise company. They were all great. We were expecting more wear on the ship from other reviews we have read about her. We thought everything looked great! The dining in the main dining room was something we looked forward to every night! Our waiter, Vincent, and assistant waiter, Manoj, were both very attentive and kind. The entertainment exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed a show or comedy act each night after dinner. We also joined in on a few games, which were equally exciting. We will definitely be going on another cruise in our near future. We would love to sail on the Grandeur of the Seas again! Read Less

We stayed overnight at La Quinta, in BMW and it was nice, $159 for a room and parking for up to 14 days included. Shuttle to port included. We got picked up at 10:30 and were at the port by 11:00 and on board by 11:30 . In our rooms by 12:30 ish. Family of 8 went for the holidays, the ship was beautiful, and we never felt over crowded. Embarking was quick and we were on board within 30 minutes of arrival at port in Maryland. The ship was fully decorated, we had Santa on Xmas morning, and NYE was so festive. Balloons from the ceiling, great music, champagne all around!!! We all had inside rooms one with 4 people, it was definitely a bit crowded for 2 adults and 2 teen boys, but manageable tho they would book a bigger room in the future. Our room , we separated the beds and had plenty of room, I was amazed at all the space to put things, drawers on the vanity were pretty deep, three on the right 3 on the left, the right ones were full size, the left were half size. There was another set of full drawers in the closet( I put my shoes here). Two mirrors on either side of the vanity had shelves for toiletries, and a huge mirror, a center drawer was also in the vanity /desk. There was no refrigerator and we thought it would be an issue, but we never missed it. The bathroom had plenty of storage too. shelves and drawers and a lower shelf. Shower took some learning to not have it come on too strong, and once in a while hot water was a bit scarce. we just learned when to shower around it. We really liked the room for 2 people, and even 4 did okay. We three decorated our rooms and doors....many did. The room was plenty cool when we adjusted the air conditioning. Our room steward Emerson Thomas was so personable and kept our rooms immaculate. He was in there after every visit to be sure things were perfect. Of course we had towel animals, always fun!! Always a smile and a hello in the halls, knew our names in one day. Always asked us about our days. We went to the windjammer for most breakfasts and lunches, most day we were able to get a large table to fit us all around, and enjoy our start of the day. Food was aplenty, with many delicious choices, even the omelet station was over all fast. most I waited was 5 minutes. Pool was not crowded, plenty of chairs to sit, didn't really see a lot of hogs. Hot tubs were busy but still could get in if you chose to. They opened the solarium on the colder days for children within certain hours, which was nice. The pool bar was a bit slow compared to the other bars, but it was always busy too. For dinner we all met at the MDR we had the 8 pm seating. Our head waiter was Amlan, and his assistant was Joe. There were a re few glitches on the first nights, but they did their very best to please us. Both were new and did a great job. Brought us extra bread baskets every night always had our drinks to serve, brought us some extra plates of cheese and fruits and extra butters. One night there was no escargot on the menu( my favorite) and Amlan got one for me anyways without me saying anything, which was very nice. We enjoyed the foods we had, we enjoyed our servers, and the little shows they had a few nights. We ordered a bottle of champagne for Xmas, and it was at our table chilling, we also won a bottle of champagne and it was there another night waiting in a chill bucket. Cannot say enough great things about both servers. The two teen age boys with us enjoyed the teen group, we had many many children on board being a holiday cruise and only had a few behave a bit naughty. Had adults behave badly as well. We didn't go to shows as we were busy, eating, at the time they were happening many times. Only big complaint I would have is 8 pm sitting and singular activities in the centrum at 8:15 pm. So all us missed all that. Should be after both meals like 9:00pm. Lots of fun there in the day times. Egg drop contest, corn hole games, dancing, music. This is where the chair hogs showed up. They would sit for hours and wait for each show. We did some trivia games in the south pacific area, went to play bingo, decided $40/pp was a bit rich so found trivia fun. The Schooner bar was always pretty fast with drinks. The centrum bar was slow and some times rude. If you asked for a drink from that bar that you had in another bar, they told you you had to go back to the other bar for it. Never heard of that. We went to the viking lounge one night to watch karaoke, it was nice but again getting a drink was a 15 -20 minute wait. We learned to get it else where and bring it along. Karaoke was a bit pre- planned. Seemed if you dressed in skimpy clothes you were in. 50's night was fun!! We brought poodle skirts and saddle "shoes" and did the dances. The dancers were excited that we came dressed in 50's gear. My daughter who is a pinup girl here at home did a duet with "Elvis" of summer lovin'. It was quite fun!! There was a 70's night but they did mostly 80's songs. Again we came prepared and had a good time. Other nights there was always a small band or a duet of violin and guitar, both were good!! Day 5 we stayed longer for the day which was nice. We went to buck Island and Turtle Bay in St Croix, had a great crew with Grace from Carribean Sea Adventures. We had to get to the other side of the island and we were getting ab it worried about taxi rates and getting there on time. But we disembarked earlier than they expected, and found a taxi at the end of the pier for $16 round trip pp, which was great. The ride to Christenstad was hot as this Taxi decided not to use his AC. A 30 minute drive in a closed in taxi, no windows to open and hot air blasting through the vents, fortunately the ride back he used full air and it was delightful. The excursion was terrific. We snorkeled on our own and also followed a trail. Word of warning do not use reef safe sunscreen, it doesn't work. Tow different brands and multiple applications and we all still burned. Grace told us regular sunscreen is fine as long as you apply it 30 minutes before the water then it doesn't leach. embarking was quick and easy, but the alcohol collection was a disaster. Day 6 we were in St Johns Antigua, we did the stingray city tour via rccl. Disembarking was again easy. We were promptly on our way to the boats to take us out. We liked that the rays are free to come and go and we are corralled in instead. They were magnificent. So beautiful. Got to feed them squids, and they were not afraid of us at all. Nothing as soft as a stingray massage!! W will be back!! Nothing shy of amazing. embarking was again slow only because of he alcohol situation, The man had no clue what he was doing sadly but was trying hard. Day 7, we were in St. Lucia, disembarking was a breeze. We booked an trip to Splash Island on our own. We ran into miscommunication of pick up but once we found them behind Diamond International, we ere off and on our way in a lovely AC taxi that you pay $10 pp round trip. If you are at all weak ankles, or overweight, this is not the place for you. It is large floats and they are difficult to get up on in the water, the "ladder" is also a float. I stayed on land , and they graciously refunded me. The others in my family had lots of fun on the floats. My Teen age grandsons had a blast. The taxi came for us on time and we were whisked back to the port, with time to shop around a bit, and of course get some nice purchases of alcohol that is very expensive here. Embarking was easy but still a cluster mess around the alcohol table. Many didn't wait and took their purchase up to their rooms, no one said stop. Day 8 we were in St Kitts, disembarking was again easy, some of us did the chocolate tour via rccl to St Kitts chocolate factory. The owner is very nice and we had samples of various chocolates and then we made some of our own to take with us. It was very nice. Seema was very knowledgeable and patient with the young 6 year old even when she asked silly questions... sadly people behind me were impatient and made mean remarks about this 6 year old. I don't know what the rush was. We still had plenty of time to do some shopping and get a bite to eat, which is a good thing because my husband and I stopped at a little stand that served chicken a fries. We ordered that and an almost an hour later we finally got our food after reminding them three times that we were waiting. Embarking was the same easy on but bottle necked at the alcohol collection table, they ran out o f tape, then told my SIL who had a $150 bottle of Johnny Blue that it was no a big deal, he waited a bit then took off for his room, who is going to assume a $150 bottle will be just fine unlabeled with the room number? Day 9 , we were in Sint Maartine, disembarking was quick we did some early shopping with my favorite jewelers the off to Maho beach. Hubs and me already had been but it was still lots of fun and a first for the other family members. Taxi was $16/pp round trip. Beach was free, bathrooms were not. $1.00 to use. Gave you a voucher to use in the hut for beers, but most of us didn't drink beer... St Maartine has come a log way from hurricane destroying it, still has a ways to go , but was lovely none the less. Spoke to our friend the jeweler, he was broken into and looted three times, as were many there he said. His cousin who was in the clothing store was looted 5 times. Sad that people do that. Embarking was easy but again the hold up a the alcohol table. We had high waves that night and deck 10 was closed. Day 10 was warm and NYE. We relaxed at the pool, enjoying our drinks after breakfast. We hung around and just chilled until dinner time, we got no pictures done as the 6 oclock seating was in line for that, so we gave up. We had lobster tails for dinner, which made 7 of us delighted, me I had a yummy dinner sans that. NYE in the Centrum was fun, and we drank champagne and toasted in the new year. Day 11 was NYD, we relaxed, watched games in the Centrum, Drank lovely drinks ( after a late breakfast) , Chilled by the pool, grabbed lunch in the windjammer, did a little trivia about xmas movies, did oragami in Schoorner. Dinner was in the MDR, we dressed up and had lots of pictures done as there were 5 different places. Then off to dinner. We ordered a seafood tower to be brought down to us ($39) and enjoyed the ooos and ahhs. After dinner we relaxed and had a few drinks before going off to bed. Day 12 We had breakfast in the windjammer, it was a bit more crowded but still found a large table. then just relaxed and enjoyed the ship and drinks!! It was too cold for the pool and they didn't open it to kids the last colder days. Got an announcement that Mike our cruise director had man flu as they called it. Seems many got sick after they left the ship, none of us in our party did. Packed up and placed suitcases out a 8 and they were promptly picked up but they shut off a bank of elevators to use for that and it made for long waits for elevators, we mostly used stairs, unless we were on floor 4 and going to floor 8 or 9. We chose 8:15 disembarking, but it was delayed due to the government shutdown had begun. Once we were called, it was a fast look at our passports and no declarations and we were off and running. Kudos to RCCl for having people with red Flashlights alerting porters to where they are needed, this is a nice addition since we last sailed with them. ( 2009). We had a hard time getting back to our hotel with their shuttle, people who had just come off from a later time were running to the shuttles meant for earlier people. Thought there was going to be fisty cuffs.... people were just rude about it not being their shuttle but would get in anyways and defy anyone saying they had to get out. La Quinta needs a better system. Over all we had a fabulous time. It is sad that Grandeur and RCCl has now split this cruise time up. You cannot go for both holidays unless you do B2B for lots more money. Many people made it a yearly trip and many knew each other from previous years. I am glad we booked it before that change. I would do it again as a full 12 days. Hopefully they will listen and change it back. We bought the drink packages ultimate for adults, refreshment for the teens. We got a great price and got more than our monies worth. Starbucks coffees were included on this ship. The only other thing that was rather slow was the cafe with food in the later afternoon, understaffed, salad side he would take off most of the time, and the selections went quick, when we did get food it was quite good. Hot sandwiches, soups, and the like. Read Less

This ship has one the highest return rates in the RC fleet. The A++ service is just one reason. The activities and entertainment are superior. Fellow passengers are friendly. My wife and I traveled alone, but we easily made friends. Our cabin had plenty of room. Food quality was not always perfect. The breakfast and lunch at either the main dining room or the buffet was almost always praiseworthy. The lunch salad bar at the main dining room is not to be missed. The ham at the breakfast buffet melts in your mouth. The quality of entrees at dinner missed my high expectations. All "Fish of the Day" were frozen. The pork tended to be tough; I had to pray for a steak knife to cut a chop. Chicken breasts needed more marinating. On the other hand, the beef dishes were outstanding. My wife gave pasta dishes a high mark. Drink prices are very high and then RC adds an automatic 18% gratuity tax on your bill. Sailing out of Baltimore gives mid-Atlantic cruisers a real cost saving, rather than flying to and from Florida. Read Less

We meet really nice people enjoyed just relaxing. Embarkation went very well like that you have a time. One thing I dislike is that everyone in the cabin has to get the Cheer package I do not drink my husband likes to have a few beers or a drink i do not think everyone should have to get it. I understand it is no way for them to check but unfair. I wish the Pride would go to more Islands as well. And I have more Vegetarian dishes... / Read Less

Also disembarkation was so easy and smooth. My dad is handicapped and we had no issues at the ports except one which was bar harbor, because there were tenders. But a great trip overall. My family and i enjoyed thoroughly! The kids enjoyed also. We took a 1 and 2 year old. I had my concerns about safety originally because they are so active. However, that proved to be unnecessary worry as there were no hiccups. As soon as we boarded, my mind was immediately at ease. Kids enjoyed their time, in and out of the pool also. Lifeguards always in duty. I could be worry free. Great food! Great service! Great staff! Great trip! Loved and enjoyed soooo much! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports in New England. We had not been to this area of our country and wanted to see several with the bonus of Canada. The ship is nice and entertainment was great. I would have liked to see more arts and crafts besides scrapbooking ?? because I do not gamble. 9 days is a long cruise so we need more entertainment during day time for the arts. Room was comfortable and staff at bars, restaurants, and spa are fantastic. The menu for gluten free folks is basically the original menu without gravies, sauces, and breadcrumbs....so a bit bland but I still managed to gain some weight. hahahaha Evening entertainment and Dancing was awesome. The DJ was great. We really enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite port is Bar Harbor and recommend the Pedego bicycles and you must do the loop road in Acadia National park.....fantastic! Please indulge in some lobster and blueberry pie....I didn't get pie but I heard some ooos and ahhhs with each order. Read Less

We have been on four cruises, all with Grandeur of the Seas. We like the crew and staff and the ship is just the right size for us. The staterooms are very nice, and clean and the staff really take pride in taking care of the rooms. The chefs and staff in the Great Gatsby go overboard (pun intended) to make sure that we had the best experience possible. We loved the variety of menu options and there was not one meal that we did not thoroughly enjoy. The lobster night was perfect and if you are unsure of the menu items, the waiter and waitress make recommendations. The shore excursions are plentiful and prices are set to suit every budget. We booked some tours through the ship and sometimes we just set off on our own to explore the area. The only complaint that we had is that the 1pm curfew time for children should be adjusted to 10pm or 11pm. There seemed to be more unsupervised preteens this trip then in previous cruises, which led to some unruly behavior. Read Less

My husband chose this cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We splurged and booked a junior suite (7656) because I had always wanted an aft balcony. Getting the Port of Baltimore was an easy 15 minute drive (we used Uber) and both embarkation and debarkation were a breeze! The Grandeur is an older ship, however the entertainment and activities staff provided a lot for everyone to enjoy. We were not traveling with our children, so it met our needs. However, our previous cruise had been on Freedom OTS and I feel as though our children would've become restless on this ship. I can't speak to the children and teen programming, but by day 7, kids were launching their sea pass cards down the stairs for entertainment. My point is that this ship is fine for adults, but doesn't have the amenities for kids (mini golf, ice skating, etc.) that your children may be accustomed to...especially on such a long sailing (9 nights). The ship is older and definitely showing signs of rust, etc. However, the ship was very clean. Our cabin steward, Randy, was one of the highlights of our cruise. He seemed to be working around the clock! We are tidy people and he kept our cabin in perfect condition. Since we were in a junior suite, we received shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotions. I'm picky about what I use on my hair, but I loved the products which helped to tame my frizz. Randy kept us well stocked with those! The balcony had a table and chairs as well as two lounge chairs. I enjoyed taking one of my bed pillows out and napping on the balcony. My only true complaint is that the night before we arrived in Coco Cay, I was laying on a lounge chair when something dark began to "rain" down on me. I spoke to Randy about it the next day and he told me it was ash from the incinerator. This became a daily occurrence for the remainder of the cruise. I would use a beach towel to clean off the chairs and sweep of the balcony. I saw Randy doing this in other staterooms, but didn't want to ask him to do it because the man literally worked around the clock. Food in the Great Gatsby wasn't anything to write home about, but we took advantage of some promotions and ate at Chops twice and Giovanni's Table once. Both were worth the surcharge. The service was excellent and I preferred the intimate setting. Activities were a lot of fun and all three comedians were great. We saw one stage production and it was well done. I did take advantage of the Pamper Party promotion and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I get massages on a monthly basis at home and this massage was wonderful. We did the mountain biking and beach break in Bermuda and the Balmoral Beach Break in Nassau. Both were very small groups (which we prefer and is usually why we don't book excursions through the ship) and enjoyable. The second day in Bermuda, we traveled to and from Horseshoe Bay Beach by minibus, which was convenient and inexpensive. The beach was beautiful and so were the life guards. Seriously, it was like an episode of Baywatch! LOL!!! We were excited to actually visit Coco Cay. On a previous cruise, we were unable to tender due to sea conditions, so we were thankful that we were able to make this port. We rented an umbrella and a float for the day. It was very relaxing and the floating bar was a lot of fun. I appreciated the natural beauty of the island and I'm a little sad that they are adding the water park, etc., as that may detract from the serene setting. Would I go on this cruise again? Absolutely. It was very relaxing and just what we were looking for. Read Less

I’ve cruised quite a few times on Disney and Carnival cruises but was dying to get on a royal Caribbean. This ship is certainly small and a little outdated but nonetheless did NOT disappoint! I wanted to do a small cruise for my boyfriends first one and he absolutely loved his time spent. The staff was so kind and courteous and always smiling. There definitely isn’t THAT much to do on board. I’d say out of an entire day’s schedule there was maybe 5 things I found really exciting and participated in. However the ones that we did go to were awesome. The entertainment shows (welcome aboard, farewell shows, etc) were just “okay.” I expected a lot more. However, all other events/activities such as the Comedian shows, lobby fair, pool deck dancing were awesome.. and the adult game shows, battle of the sexes, etc had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Music on the pool deck (especially the island band) were amazing and the drinks were all delicious and well-made. Dining was great and the portions were the perfect size. It’s definitely not the BEST BEST five star food I’ve ever had but what can you expect with such high volumes of food production and limited resources? I enjoyed every meal & left with a full stomach every night. Rooms were on the small side but honestly we didn’t care because we were rarely in there. The port in Bermuda is absolutely beautiful and only about 25-30 minutes from Horseshoe Bay. Shore excursions desk helped a lot , even when TWO of our excursions got cancelled. They suggested new ones right away and were very honest and up to date throughout the process. Only issue was when trying to get taxi times/prices/schedules the one last was the least bit helpful and claimed to not know any of the info. However, the pamphlet in the room said that the excursions desk had all of this info (which we didn’t see until after we already talked to her). Anyway, $7 for bus rides one way to and from horseshoe bay and $32 for a taxi. Easy information to have just given us. I had a feeling they didn’t want us traveling on our own and maybe wanted us to book with them instead. Aside from that, we had a blast. I’d recommend giving this boat a try especially if it’s your first cruise or you like a more intimate setting. Booking, boarding, embarking, etc. were all so easy, fast, smooth, and well organized. We love royal Caribbean and will continue to book with them! Read Less

My sister and I needed a short vacation away together so we booked this cruise from Baltimore, only a 3 hr. Drive from home. We have been on other cruises in the past with friends and family but this was just a "sister cruise". From start to finish, I can't say enough about the wonderful service on this ship. I can't imagine being away from my family for 5-6 months at a time and still smile every day to all the customers. SUCH HARD WORKERS with little time off. People say that this is an "old ship with old people". This is not true! We saw people from 1-93 on this cruise. The 93 yr old lady was playing the piano in the Schooler Bar on the last night. What a treat to watch her play the piano. Just shows that you are never too old to enjoy life! Our wait staff in the man dining room was so sweet, Gener and Imade Ari! Yes they do get paid for their service but they also deserve a little extra tip for going the extra step. The food was tasty and I loved the salad bar at lunch in the main dining room where they mixed it all up for you! Wonderful! Our room steward was also great! She always greeted us with a smile and was eager to please us during our stay. Now the fun part. We meet some folks in the casino that were so cool! We spend a lot of time playing black jack and shouting "EVERYBODY WINS! When the dealer busted. Wow, we laughed and totally enjoyed ourselves. My sister even won the slot tournament for $500.00. Bermuda was fantastic! Warm but windy for 2 days.Booked the excursion for snorkeling and loved it. We didn't get to the beach but that's ok. Overall this was a great cruise and we would not hesitate to book again on Lady G. She is wonderful! Read Less

After having a great experience celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with Royal Caribbean on the Grandeur, we decided to celebrate our 30 yr. anniversary on the Grandeur as well. It was convenient to drive up to Baltimore and board the ship and be on our way to a wonderful pampering experience of fun, delicious food and excellent service. The draw for this cruise was that the destinations were very different from the last one. On this cruise we visited different Caribbean ports from the 20th anniversary celebration cruise which allowed us to see Bermuda and Co Co Cay which we had not seen before. In fact, we wanted to go to Bermuda for our honeymoon, but couldn't afford to. Throughout the whole cruise, we had beautiful weather. There was always something to do on the ship. There were a variety of live entertainment shows to attend. There were dance classes, Zumba exercise sessions, spa treatments you could get and you could even see movies on the top decks on the big screen while enjoying the nice weather. Embarkation on the ship went smoothly after arriving on board about 1 pm. We were able to immediately go to the Windjammer and get food and then proceed to our cabin which was a nice, freshly cleaned ocean view room. The food from start to finish was excellent with such a variety of selections. Disembarkation could have gone smoother since we opted for the last departure time. Seems like we would have had less of a crowd to deal with which would in turn lessened the wait time for leaving the exit lines. I definitely would travel with Royal Caribbean again. the Grandeur is STILL in GREAT CONDITION!! Please TIP the staff APPROPRIATELY for providing such ROYAL SERVICE!! THEY TRULY DESERVE IT!!!! We had asked for a private table in advance but were seated with two other couples. So the rest of the cruise we ate in the Windjammer room and had great food to eat and didn't have to dress up for every meal. The shows on the ship were great and entertaining. They were always something to do while at sea. You could not ask for a better crew than what the Grandeur of the Seas had. My wife and I been to Bermuda and Bahamas before and we took this cruise for two reasons. The first reason is that we love going to Bermuda and the last time we been to Nassau we were there for a short period of time and didn't have much time to do anything. The second reason is that the departure from Baltimore is close to home so that we can drive instead of flying or taking the train. Read Less

Our first time cruise was a gift from our dear friends who took us with them. Having never gone on a cruise, we were not sure what to expect. At first we were a bit intimidated by the size of the ship and the challenge to know where things are and how to get there. However, it did not take long at all to navigate the ship and get to where we wanted to go. Apparently, the Grandeur of the Seas is considered a "smaller" ship. If that is so, that worked well for us. We actually got to meet people and see them again. it was easy to meet people and we found people to be amazing friendly. We loved every bit of our experience from the cabin, the food, the entertainment, the amazing service and last but not least, the beauty of the ship. It was sheer pleasure from start to finish. Royal Caribbean was terrific! Read Less

This cruise was our second on Grandeur of the Seas. We love this ship and the port of departure, Baltimore. The service is beyond compare, from the dining room, to the cabin attendant, to the bartenders and everywhere else. We had rough seas on the second day, so we were limited in the sea day activities and entertainment. My wife and I did not get sick but a lot of others did. Certainly this was not the fault of RC. The time in Bermuda is very short so I would recommend a longer cruise if one wants to get a better feel for the island. Unfortunately, I have to mention the quality of the clientele. There were several "bad apples" on the ship. Loud, foul language and bad (almost violent} behavior. I even had to ask a waitress to call security on one occasion. Again, this was not the fault of RC, but they need to be a little quicker to deal with obscene guests. We had an interior cabin, 7057 and were glad we didn't spend more for a balcony. It would have been useless on the rough sea days. We like Lady G very much and will sail again on her for sure. Read Less

This was my husband and I first cruise to Bermuda. We have cruised thru RC in the past and was always satisfied. The RC staff have always been classy and professional in how they treat us. It seemed like the employees we came in contact with were kind and had a great sense of humor and provided awesome service, especially in the main dining for dinner, the waiter and waitress team named Shekar and Jingfang were outstanding! It’s always a great feeling to be treated with kindness and respect! Now as far as the shore excursions, they are very pricey! I wish that RC would give their repeat cruisers a better deal on things like that. Cruising is expensive enough, especially when you have to get to the ports, that’s why I feel as though they should lower the costs of different shore excursions. I also wish that our stay in Bermuda could have been a little longer, nonetheless we will cruise with RC again! Read Less

Headliner entertainment was exceptional. Embarkation & disembarkation went very smoothly. Though did need more Custom Agents and it would have moved faster. Our St. Thomas excursion on the Schooner was awesome. A shout out to Gigi ! Dauphin experience in St. Kitts was a highlight and very enjoyable. Our wait staff in the Main Dining Room was exceptional.
