Embarkation went smoothly & before you knew it we were on board and enjoying the services and scenes. Food services were excellent, even the Windjammer & Park Cafe, the buffet & snack bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful when needed to help with whatever needed doing. Weather was great throughout the trip & the ports of call were great. Shore excursions were plentiful and covered many interests. We had no problem getting exactly what we needed and the staff & contractors did exactly what they needed to make our tour enjoyable. We especially liked the beach day at Coco Cay. The beach was great & the water perfect. Enjoyed seeing abundant wild life on the beach area. Several small rays were feeding in the water in which we were swimming. The lunch provided was great as always. The production shows were repeats but were entertaining & were very well done. Other entertainers including the on-board bands were good. On-board bands were even a little better than we experienced our last cruise on this ship (my opinion, of course). Crown & Anchor Society (Loyalty program) events were really nice & amenities were fulfilling. e had a somewhat minor problem with out stateroom (see below) but worked it out with the help of Guest services. As this was a summer cruise, there were a few more kids than we like but at least half behaved themselves adequately. All in all, it was a great summer get-away at a time we felt we needed one. Our 14th cruise on this ship. Staff does very well & we'll likely keep coming back. Read Less

We chose this trip for the deal. Getting on the ship went smoothly. This was my first cruise and my husband's second. Our cabin attendant failed to give us a copy of the ship's compass for the first day, so we were sort of lost and did not know what to do. Our cabin was very small and very noisy from steam banging in the pipes. The water in our cabin was way too hot. We had no cold water. You could get burned in the shower. When we told guest services about it, they fixed it-somewhat. They turned off the hot water. Then, we had to take cold showers. The cabin was very clean. The staff in the dining room was excellent and the food was delicious! The entertainment each night was wonderful! The dance class in the afternoon went way too fast for anyone to catch on, and I am a ballroom dancer. Otherwise, the activities were great. The service was very good, especially in the dining room. Our wait staff was exceptionally good in the dining room! The food was great! When we got to Kings Wharf, Bermuda, my husband and I went exploring on our own. Our dog sitter visits Bermuda quite often, and told us what to see. First, the ferry to St George was not running on the weekend. We had to take the ferry to Hamilton, then transfer to a bus. We were told, when we bought our bus tokens, that when we came back, we would have to change buses in Hamilton in order to get a bus back to the dockyard. When we got as far as Hamilton, they told us that the bus we needed had stopped running for the evening. There were 11 of us that needed to get back to the dockyard. Our driver took us as far as the bridge. He left us out at the bridge at 10pm. He called a taxi for us, but it took a very long time to get one, because it was the weekend. Be careful, because the bus schedules are not always accurate! Bermuda was beautiful! Cocoa Cay, in the Bahamas was wonderful!! The shore excursion to Atlantis was great! Would I go again? Yes, but next time, I will do some things differently. 1st-Pick your cabin ahead of time, instead of just being assigned a cabin. 2nd-Stick to the ship's shore excursions if you have not been to a certain destination in the past. 3rd- Allow extra time when you explore. The locals are on "island time" which is way different from our time. Read Less

We wanted to get married on the cruise and it worked out great. We did not have to want for anything while we were there. The entertainment was great. Tanya and Susan were fantastic and such high energy. The dining room with our servers at table 424 could not have been better. They are so friendly and by the second night they new what we wanted without asking. We loved Kings Wharf and Cococay but were not as impressed with Nassas. I felt very unsafe there. It was dirty and had we known about the Atlantis tour we would have taken it. We will go on this ship for sure again and I hope to have another great time. The people who work for you could not have been more friendly and also so kind. We enjoyed it more than we could express. Im glad that we took Royal Caribbean as our first cruise. Read Less

Loved the ship, the crew was friendly and the food good!. The VROOM internet was the fastest I have ever seen on a ship (still not fast) WE started off out of PORT BALTIMORE--what a joy there they actually took our luggage out of our trunk we didn't have to handle it. Parking was safe and secure it took us only less than 30 min once we entered the port to get on the ship. The first day at sea was a little ruff however that is what happens on a ship sometimes, we enjoyed the day checking out things to do. Once we arrived in Bermuda, we had our shipwreck snorkel HIGHLY recommend!! then we enjoyed a great dinner at CHOPS...saw the comedian and enjoyed that. The next day we toured the island via segways and had a great local guide named TROY funny young man and very knowledgeable!! Going out of port was enjoyable...the water all the way home was calm and we enjoyed the magic act and the new comedian that was there. Two things I would tell people to take advantage of---the drink package w/internet, cost us 365 for 5 days included internet and all inclusive booze as well as soft drinks and premium coffee. The second would be the 150 for three eating experiences at the speciality restaurants well worth the money.... great cruise Read Less

My husband and I cruised out of Baltimore on the Pride to Bermuda on July 2nd. This was our second time on this ship, but it previously hadn't had the 2.0 upgrades. The ship has changed some, but most of the Renaissance decor is the same. The ship was definitely kept clean. I enjoyed most of the food, especially Guy's burgers and dinner in David's Steakhouse. We chose to do My Time Dining. We requested to be seated in Darell's section each night. Our steward, Ketut, was friendly and kept our room clean. The entertainment on this cruise was much better than what we've seen on Carnival in the past. I enjoyed all of the joys. The singers were phenomenal. We enjoyed Bermuda. It was nice being there for 2 overnights. We didn't feel that we had to rush. It was very easy to take the mini bus to Horseshoe Bay Beach, which was gorgeous. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about the cruise my DH and I took to celebrate our 25th anniversary on the Carnival Pride. From the accommodations, to the friendly crew, to the Carnival Excursions, the entire experience was absolutely fantastic. This was only our second cruise (first back in 1999), but we've already booked 2 more! We boarded the ship in Baltimore - such an easy boarding experience. Then we enjoyed all the ship had to offer - Steakhouse reservations one evening, comedy shows throughout, a Behind the Fun tour, several stage shows, and the Cheers! drink package. Our waiters Francisco, Igusti, and Michele were so attentive and did a fabulous job making us feel spoiled. The Serenity Pool (though often crazy crowded) was a nice respite from the regular Lido deck pool. Our room #7192 was perfectly situated in the middle of everything, but was not at all noisy. The balcony was fantastic - so nice to be able to watch the ship pull into Bermuda and dock, then watch it all drift away as we sailed off. :( The Carnival Excursions, though somewhat pricey, were definitely worth it. Highly recommend the Restless Native Catamaran snorkeling excursion. We had a private cove all to ourselves to snorkel, look for seashells, or just float and enjoy paradise. The crew (Zander, Sam & Steve) were very personable and made us feel right at home. And the Rum Swizzles and freshly made chocolate chip cookies were perfect for the ride back. Also, the Horseshoe Bay excursion (though way too short) was an awesome experience. The driver even took us the long way back to the ship, past the Gibbs lighthouse, for some photo ops. Check out the Arts and Crafts market and the Ferry (within walking distance to the ship) - very nice! Also, visit Hamilton via the Ferry (only $4.00 one-way) and enjoy some of the amazing shops in town. I honestly can't wait to go back to Bermuda! Read Less

DH & I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, a new job for him, & my retirement. We had been on Grandeur twice before, but not the New England/Canada itinerary. From the beginning, we were very pleased with our trip and the service provided by the crew. Embarkation was very easy, everyone at the Baltimore port was pleasant. We were on the ship before 11:00 and settled in the Solarium where we love to watch people as they board. The Park Cafe opened for lunch at 11::45 & we had salads w/ roast beef. We are both Gluten Free due to my health issues. DH had emailed the Diamond Lounge Concierge prior to our cruise to ask if some GF snacks could be provided during the evening social time. Francis and his staff went above and beyond, making sure that we had our own plate of warm snacks prepared each evening. Francis, Dennis, and Andreea made our time spent in the Diamond Lounge some of the most enjoyable and memorable we have had on any of our RCI ships. I must emphasize that we alerted Francis AHEAD of time. I would never expect someone to deal with our food needs without giving them a head's up. We were also surprised to receive a bottle of sparking wine from the Guest Services Officer Kumar Kunchipudi and chocolate covered strawberries from DL Concierge Francis to celebrate our anniversary. Also on the subject of food, we do not eat dinner in the MDR. We simply do not enjoy spending the amount of time a typical meal takes. We usually go to the Windjammer where the foods are labeled for food allergies. The first evening, I asked for assistance putting together a meal and was introduced to Chef Kutty. The first item we passed looked delicious but had noodles & Kutty said, "Be careful, you cannot eat that." I said, "I know. I used to love eating food like that. But not anymore." Well, that was all she wrote! He made some for me with GF noodles and brought it out to our table. After that, every night he made something different, GF and very tasty! The only negative experience I had was at the Spa of all places. I NEVER use the spa but as a treat I had booked a Deep Tissue Massage & expected to receive 20% off. During the pre-massage consult, the woman (I do not remember her name) convinced me to add hot stones to my treatment, saying it would add only $20. I repeated this to her to make sure I heard her correctly. Well, what she didn't say was that it was $20 because she used my 20% on the Hot Stone treatment and I was charged full price for the more expensive Deep Tissue massage. I didn't catch this as I signed & left because she was strong arming me to buy almost $200 worth of product and I just wanted out of there! I will never go back to the spa. For what it's worth that was the only time I had anyone annoy me with a sales pitch. People would come up and ask if we were interested, we would say no thanks and they would leave. One young man from Ukraine was asking about eating at Giovanni's. We kept asking him questions about Ukraine and enjoyed talking to him for almost 20 minutes! We got off at each port and were glad to have the last 2 days at sea so we could rest. BOSTON - We met family there and walked on the Freedom Trail. DH loves to take pictures so he had a wonderful time! Mikes Pastry's has some GF treats PORTLAND - Walked and took pictures. Not much to see here. BAR HARBOR - Our excursion to Little Cranberry Island was cancelled so we walked up Main Street and shopped. Geddy's Restaurant serves GF lobster rolls! The Scrimshaw Workshop, 150 Main St - artist uses fossilized mammoth & walrus bones/tusks which are apparently in great supply. His work is amazing. We usually try to buy a piece of jewelry that represents the area we visit & didn’t expect to get anything this trip. I got a beautiful pendant he designed the has a lighthouse on it. ST. JOHN - Walked to and from the Reversing Falls, Oh my aching feet!! Take a bus! Bit of a disappointment, there is a huge factory/plant of some kind right across from the falls that ruins the view IMO. HALLIFAX - Walked to the Maritime Museum for the Titanic & the Halifax Explosion exhibits. Well worth it. The Halifax Explosion was 100 yrs ago & there is a lovely quilt on display. Both exhibits were sobering and fascinating. Next time, hope to go to Peggy’s Cove. We will do this itinerary again one day, hopefully on Grandeur. We have future cruises planned on The Freedom and The Oasis, but we love the Grandeur. She is a lovely, little ship wth a caring, hard-working crew. Read Less

This cruise turned out to be perfect for us because we really wanted more days in Bermuda as 5-7 days was too short a trip. This was our 1st "big boat" cruise, and we were very comfortable with the ship size and company of the other 2,000 guests. We enjoyed finding quiet areas of the ship to read and had no difficulty locating a deck chair or lounge chair in one of the common areas. We were on deck 2, and enjoyed having a window, but realized that we were not in our cabin much. The bathroom/shower was small, but adequate, and there was abundant storage for our needs. We did bring an over the door (bathroom) clear shoe "pocket" storage that helped us keep track of small items, and a tiny fan because we like air movement. We did not experience any sea-sickness at all, but were fortunate to have calm seas. This trip was ideal for us because we had busy port day excursions interspersed with two "at sea" days for R&R. It was the perfect combination for us. in Bermuda taking the RC segway tour (Troy was our wonderful tour guide), the RC sunset boat tour rum tasting (Goslings), and the snorkeling/kayaking in Devil's Bay. All were terrific! The segway tour included the dockyards as well as a bit of local travel nearby to see more secluded swimming and "glass" beaches. We enjoyed hearing about Bermudian life and flora too. The America's Cup race was ongoing at the time of our visit, which was cool to watch from the ship or shore, and to see the amazing yachts in the harbor. The snorkeling in gorgeous Devil's Bay was our first experience and we loved seeing the brain and fan corals and the multitudes of brightly colored fish. Great experience. We were not enamored of Nassau, but we did take the RC land & sea tour, which was "OK," to see some of the island's landmarks and hear some of the history. This was easy and enjoyable, but my least favorite excursion. The guides were informed but very 'canned' and although the seascape in Nassau is beautiful, the land simply is not. Most of the water tour was simply pointing out where celebrities live. The disparity of rich/poor was blatant, and the litter on land and in coastal areas was disturbing. It would be nice to see some of the extreme wealth trickle down to those providing so much of the island services. We had a few minutes to see the Atlantis Resort, and enjoyed the lovely setting and landscaping. This seems to be the attempt to keep tourists from seeing the 'dark' side of this island. At Coco Cay we were awed by the beautiful beaches and the great picnic buffet that RC provided for us to enjoy. RC has created their own little heavenly island here - Nicely done. We also went on the RC Stingray excursion and loved every minute of this! The stingray "wranglers" provided education and great experiences for us to hold and feed the rays. These beautiful creatures swim around your legs and allow one to see and touch them. My husband called them "slimy cats" the way they brush up around one's legs! Feeding them just means holding the squid below their mouths as they "suck like a Hoover." We enjoyed every minute of this excursion, including the fast boat ride over to the island. We rented snorkeling gear at Coco Cay too and had a great afternoon exploring the wrecks and reefs provided in the bay. For beginners like us, their instructional video was helpful, and it was comforting to see the lifeguards on duty in case the waves became rough. We were celebrating a 35th anniversary and were treated royally at Chops, with excellent food and service. We got the 3 specialty restaurant meal offer, and did enjoy sampling the other venues. Izumi had wonderful sushi and a nice table "hot rock" cooking experience. Giovanni's was great classic Italian food and service. There is no doubt in our minds that we will cruise with RC again and we eagerly look forward to that day . I would recommend this ship and cruise to anyone for great service and opportunities for both R&R as well as interactive engagement, as desired. Read Less

Despite the ship's age it was clean and well-maintained. The crew in particular were for the most part incredibly courteous and friendly, quickly learning our names and making us feel right at home. The comedy shows were wonderful and my mother-in-law very much enjoyed the 70's night and Broadway show. We did the glass boat tour at night and our captain Kevin was funny and engaging. Dining at the Windjammer was good but a little crowded at times, and our servers in the dining room were top notch. My daughter was a little bored with the lack of teen-friendly things to do and the tiny arcade, but otherwise we all had a fantastic time. Looking forward to our next cruise to Alaska. Read Less

This was our first cruise, our honeymoon. We picked it based on the date and convenient port (Baltimore is 2 hours away from our home) and we were so so pleased with the whole experience. The ship (we learned) is a smaller ship and so we had lots of encounters with the same staff and guests. Waiters and other staff learned our names quickly, we felt so welcome. The ship was beautiful, easy to navigate, comfortable. Food! wow how delicious. The buffet, room service, specialty dining, all left nothing to be desired. The best variety was at the Windjammer (buffet) but the great service at the main dining room made that an experience you don't want to miss. We didn't attend a lot of events or activities, we where more interested in lawn chairs by the pool, etc, but we did catch quite a few musical acts, all enjoyable. And the belly flop competition was good fun to watch. Bermuda is great. We only went ashore the first afternoon but what we saw made us want to go back and spend more time. Read Less

We have never cruised or visited the New England/Canadian area and thought we would try a cruise going North for a change. Although it was a little cooler than we expected, even if you don't get off the ship there is still plenty to do while on the ship when docked. Grandeur of the Seas is so perfect for us as we live in Maryland and the ship is out of Baltimore. How much more convenient is that? No airfare! You are waited on hand and foot, and if you don't see what you want, the staff will do their very best to find it for you. Entertainment is top notch! Food in the dining room is excellent and so was our waiter and assistant waiter. It is so much fun talking with them, finding out where they are from, how long they have been on the ship, etc. Some of the staff are actually married and their spouse is actually on the ship as well. There were 59 different nationalities of the staff alone on the ship. Royal Caribbean is highly recommended in our book! Read Less

We chose this Grandeur of the Seas ship and New England & Canada cruise because we wanted a smaller ship and a friendly ship. We read that the staff were very friendly and the personal service of the staff had extremely high ratings. Yes, we wanted to eat fresh caught cold water Lobster. We had fresh caught cold water Lobster at a Bar Harbor restaurant on the water. It was good. But the Lobster served on the Grandeur of the Seas was far better. Our Cabin was a Grand Suite 8512 with 340 sq feet plus a large balcony. Head Waiter Dan in the main dining room exceeded all expectations of professionalism and has risen far beyond any other Head Waiter that I have ever met. He provided service as if he read my mind. I have observed him giving direction and guidance to his waiters and I know he used just the right touch with them. I have been on nine Royal Caribbean cruises and Dan is head and shoulders above all others. I was also at the Captains Table and Dan and his team serves the Captain and us. Dan’s performance ensured service to the Captain and us was done to perfection to the smallest detail. This time we took only one excursion at each port and enjoyed it more. Our Junior Suite was very nice. It had a really nice balcony. The bathroom was nice compared to what I heard people had on the lower decks. I wish the refrigerators would cool drinks down more than they do. The dining services were excellent. The wait staff made sure we had enough to eat. The menu's were varied so we didn't need to eat the same thing every night. The headliner shows were OK but not excellent. The food in the Great Gatsby Dining Room was amazing and the service by our waiters was awesome! The Park Cafe on Deck 9 in the evening did not have a very big selection and the food was just okay. Most nights it was only hot dogs, pizza and nachos, along with cold sandwiches and panini's.. The cheese for the nachos was just passable. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth. No problems or issues. Our cabin was nice - just wished the shower was a little bigger. Entertainment was great - the comedian who performed on the last night of the cruise, Mike Marino was hilarious! Wished we had docked at Hamilton in Bermuda. This was a getaway cruise for just my wife and I to relax away from our kids. However, it started off very poorly as soon as we got to the terminal. We spent almost 1 hour in our car in a line on the street waiting to get into the terminal parking lot. Then we spent an hour waiting in the Gold line to check in (Very poorly managed line versus tellers even when there was no one waiting in the higher level customer lines). Ship was 3 hours late leaving the first day due to engine problems. Ship appeared dirty during the entire cruise. Only half the soda machines were working. The internet package sucked. It would not stay connected and/or had trouble finding their network. As soon as your device went to locked screen, their internet would disconnect. Thus, any messages coming in would not wake up your device with a notification. You would not get those incoming messages until you manually woke up your device and reconnected to your device. These disconnects were long before the automatic 2 hour non-usage disconnect that they tell you about. There was still construction occurring on the ship during the cruise. It seemed like the ship was under staffed to take care of the customers. I don't believe the ship was even fully booked either, which makes it worse. Staff was very slow at cleaning up trash on the ship or clearing tables in common dinning areas of the ship. We were told the ship just sailed up from dry dock work, so this was the first cruise after dry dock. I don't think all the repairs were completed given our experience on this cruise. Read Less

My husband and I could have taken 2 Carnival cruises for the price of this trip. Not saying that it was terrible, but it should have been marketed and priced as a value cruise. There was nothing luxurious about this trip. The embarktion time was delayed by multiple hours due to staff boarding and mechanical issues, and the speed (to make up time) in the first 24 hours had many people very sick. The food was amazing, and the staff was pleasant. This is the first trip that I did not buy any photos on as well. In almost all of our photos there were obvious flaws, for example: my large charm on my necklace being flipped, my husband's shirt button gaping open, or just bad positioning. I also could not get a mojito to save my life. I tried ordering one at 3 different bars, multiple times, on each day, and each time I was told they had no mint. I did see mint in other places, but just couldn't get my drink. Our stateroom toilet barely worked, and at one point overflowed, wetting our floors. It was repaired and the mess was cleaned up, but the carpets remained soggy for the duration of our trip. Our travel companions had horror stories, but I will allow them to write their own reviews. I don't believe that this particular sailing and ship is indicative of the Royal fleet, but I was turned off of any future sailings with them nonetheless. Read Less

Sailed on Granduer of the Seas out of Baltimore on Mathe May 13th cruise When we got to the port and waited in line for at least 45 minutes, then we were told to come back in two hours. The check in just to park took a long time as well. Then inside yet to have to stand in line for over an hour to get on the ship, then told of a late departure due to engine problems. Lifeboat drill lasted too long out in the unusual month of May chill. Assigned to a forward room on the lowest deck with portholes. Beware these room are noisy and vibrate when the bow thrusters are in use. The cabin is called an Ocean View, not much you can see thru two small portholes, and you are paying the same price for cabins with the large windows. The Granduer is showing here age and needs to be updated. The ship was over all clean, food good, wait staff excellent, our room steward rated a 4 on a scale of 1-10 I had an issue to discuss with Guest Services and was treated not so nice. Never had a picture taken. We saw photographers all over the ship, but not once were we approached to have a picture taken. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have sailed with American Cruise Lines before and had a fabulous experience. We try to alternate between theEast Coast and West Coast... last year we did the Snake and Columbia Rivers. The maiden voyage of the brand new Constellation was outstanding. This was our 7th cruise with American Cruise Lines and they surpassed our expectations again. We booked our 8th cruise in Alaska for next summer. The food was very good - a lot of crab since it was the Chesapeake Bay. Didn't like the beef one evening, but the rest of the time the meals were presented nicely and delicious. Good to see Chef Tom again and Jonathan. Servers in the dining room anticipated our needs. Saw Drew and Kyle, which was nice too. We love how they know our names when we arrive to the boat. The decorations were very nice. The older ships in the fleet should be renovated to look like this. The tours were nice, especially Annapolis. Cambridge was lacking, but we enjoyed the schooner tour. Oxford was lovely, St. Michael's was beautiful. Wish that they would arrange a tour to the ship yard. Great time and we are looking forward to being back soon. Read Less

The service was excellent, anything you wanted or needed was provided. The food it wonderful and plentiful. Whatever you are hungry for it is there. You can eat any time of the day and as much as you wish to eat. Ice cream machine on the pool deck tall day. A café is on the pool deck to just pick up your food and sit and relax by the pool to eat it. The Windjammer is where we ate our meals. It is a buffet for every meal. The staff is outstanding and the restaurant is very clean and organized. The entertainment is wonderful and they have a great variety of shows. The entertainers are some of the best in the business. They have music all over the ship in different areas at all times. There is activities to suit everyone. Lots of places to sit and relax and a Starbucks to enjoy some great coffee. The ports are very nice and a lot of excursions to choose from. Getting on and off the ship during the excursions is very well planned and they do it quickly. This is the best cruise line, they take great care of you and you have a great time. Read Less
