Cruise Safely During Pandemic

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Star

I chose this river cruise line because of safety issues during the Covid-19 pandemic. I was a little stir-crazy from a year without leaving the house and decided to stay in the US after vaccination. This line caters to adults and has very small ships and very strict pandemic protocols. Currently, all passengers must have proof of vaccination and must be tested by medical personnel before ...

Quality of my American Cruise Line experience

From my first contact by phone with the cruise agent through the debarkation, everyone and everything was a most pleasant experience. I have been on several cruises and this ranks near the top of the list. First and foremost was the attentiveness and attitude of the entire crew which was directed t making our trip pleasant and enjoyable. The fact that passenger count was small (at capacity) ...

Chose this cruise to visit Tangier Island, Williamsburg, Annapolis and other small communities along the Virginia and Maryland shores. The food is always wonderful with accommodations made for dietary needs. There is always a riverlorian or someone knowledgeable in the areas visited on board to lecture and impart wonderful histories and stories. The evening entertainment has, for the most part, ...

I had never been in this area. It was a good introduction to this part of our United States. I leaned so much about the area and the American Revolution from the lectures and then seeing the areas. The Captain and crew were very friendly. They learned the names of most of their travelers and actually took time to visit when they were free to do so. The food was fantastic. Each item was ...

History at it's best

Excellent service: everyone is easily accessible including the captain and they go out of their way to please. For example: We decided to leave the ship after dinner the last night to stay in a local hotel. One of the deck hands insisted on walking us over to our hotel with our luggage. When we got there he waited for us to check in and took us to our room to make sure we were settled and ...

This was my first time to be a single traveler and my first time on a small ship. I was apprehensive at first, but quickly made friends and really enjoyed the trip. I was surprised about the amenities on the ship as my previous sailing had been on medium size and large size ships. I found the single cabin to be very cozy and really enjoyed the balcony. Having fresh air available was great. ...

Cruising the Chesapeake Bay

We wanted to check out this Cruise Line from a close enough place that there was no long drive or a flight, before we booked a cruise from this company where we had to add airfare to the cost. We had done two National Geographic/Lindbladt small ship cruises before and loved them, but both involved long flights. Since the Nat. Geo. Cruises were ecco cruises, there were no frills, but lots of ...

With beautiful weather we left Baltimore's Inner Harbor and sailed down the Bay under two bridges the second being the double spans of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The ship had only 54 passengers so over the cruise we met many of them. They were a very nice group of people. We had one teenager on board and she enjoyed all the history that was presented at lectures in the lounge. The meals were ...

Our stateroom was very roomy and near the elevator which provide access to the dining room on the lower deck. Often, my husband and I elected to use the short stairway across from the elevator. The decks were perfect for reaching the lounge that always had coffee, soft drinks and snacks throughout the day. , The Library provided reading material and a quiet place to relax and use the computer. ...

American Cruise Lines always does a great job: interesting ports, great food, good lecturers, caring staff and large cabins. They do everything to cater to their passengers including paying postage on letters and complimentary cocktail hour with fabulous hors d'oevres. We stopped at various ports on the Chespeake Bay and had very interesting shore excursions. In Chrisfield we took the ferry to ...
