I booked this cruise because it went out of Baltimore and it was the best deal I could find. I had very low expectations, and just wanted to get away for a week with my family, see some new places, and not have to cook or clean. The Carnival Pride surpassed my expectations in every way. The musicals at night were awesome. Our cabin was perfect. My kids had so much fun in the pool and doing the water slides over and over again. I had read reviews saying that the food on Carnival Pride was lukewarm and not good-- we ate mostly in the main dining room, and the food was wonderful and always hot. My husband did wish there had been a live dealer for poker in the casino. I had also read reviews saying that the passengers on the Pride are rude-- this was not our experience at all. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be having a great time. The other passengers did not act annoyed by our children, which I had been a bit concerned about as this is supposedly a "party boat." Many people stopped to talk to my kids and really seemed delighted by them. The ports were decent-- we swam and hung out at the beach in Princess Cays, and did a glass bottom boat Carnival excursion in Freeport. Those were both nice. We explored Nassau on foot and went to the Pirates Museum and the restaurant next to it for lunch. I enjoyed getting out of the cruise terminal area and walking to the museum-- we were able to talk with several local people who helped us with directions, and it was nice to interact with these kindhearted Bahamian souls. Nassau was my favorite port out of the three because it felt like we got to experience a bit of the true culture of the Bahamas. Ultimately, this cruise was so much fun and my whole family can't wait to do it again. Read Less

We went on this cruise over New Year's. The first 2 sea days were very bumpy. THis was because of a storm. Carnival's embarkation process was very smooth. The safety brief at the beginning of the cruise was also very simple. We had a lot of fun over the 7 days that we were on the ship. The dining room staff needed some training, but the main waiter was great. The bars were a slight disappointment because they were not open for most of the day. No rock climbing wall was also a disappointment. The dining overall was very great and I liked the ship. I would do it again. We stopped at Princess Cays which was a little bit of a disappointment. There should have been more than just a beach. But, Nassau was really great. The stores where really fun. Freeport was not the best stop due to the damage from Hurricane Dorian. Overall, the cruise was fun, but not over-the-top. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted to get away for Christmas. Horrible, will never use carnival pride. Needs to be retired along with the horrible food and service. One African American woman was discourteous all of the time for breakfast. The show's were for amateurs. The casino only gave free drinks after 1500 ppints. The kids on the ship were knocking on doors randomly, horrible. The shipp is old, needs to be retired. The food was Luke warm. And had no taste. 2 days were good. Lobster and prime rib, spare rib. Needed a better assortment of vegetables. Had problems with the light in the bathroom. Was told to leave the light on. Was that an electrical issue? The entertainment was mediocre. I've been on different carnival ships and had an excellent experience, this was horrible. Been on Holland America and Norwegian and never experienced such as this. Very, very disappointed. Read Less

We wanted to go back and visit the Bahamas again and we wanted to try out the sister ship Carnival Pride because we just sailed on Carnival Miracle and thought that was a awesome cruise and a very nice ship. Everything went as smooth as possible before, during and after our cruise, very easy embarkation and disembarkation and from past cruises on Carnival we had no issues getting around the ship. The Pride is very clean except for rust on our balcony, our cabin stewards were professional and very friendly, the dining everywhere was excellent and we loved the entertainers even the Dr. Suess Christmas show for the children was cute. This was our first cruise out of Baltimore and we drove 6+ hours to get there, for some reason it was $400 to fly there round trip, we used the parkSleepSail and stayed at the Best Western PLUS Hotel & Conference Center, very nice hotel with friendly staff and a restaurant on the premises and they provided courtesy transportation to and from the port for a little under $200, we would do this same trip again. My husband and I booked this to celebrate our Anniversary. One issue after the next from the time we got on the boat until the time we left. Food outside of the speciality restaurants was mediocre at best. We spent an extra day anchored in the bay due to bad weather causing us to miss 2 of our ports. I say 2 because we were only in Nassau from 1130pm until 1230am. The ship itself was run down. Common areas were dirty as well as the bathrooms. It is clear they don't value customer loyalty. There were some positives while on board but those all came with an extra fee. Chef's table and Giovannis were out of this world as well as the service received in the bar areas. Machines were without ice most of the time and bottled beverages were always warm. We would definitely love to cruise again but it won't be with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

This was suppose to be a fun, family & friends birthday cruise but it was anything but that ! I invited my girlfriend & her husband who both were first time cruiser.(celebrating her birthday) My husband was a first time cruiser as well, also celebrating his birthday. It was a party of 14 of us in total. So out of the 14 there was 11 first time cruiser. Myself, My Sister, & friend were the only 3 who have cruise over 5-8 times before so we know how things can be. We understand that there is nothing you can do about the weather. We had one half day were we experience rough waters & cause the ship to be rocky. Again not too much can be done. I do feel like hey could have gave us some kind of refund or credit beside one $10.20 port fee. We only had one true day in port. ! Our cruise was @ sea & I really feel like I was ripped off. We stopped in one port for only 45mins. Everything was close & it was dark. This was THE WORST EVER VACATION IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! I feel like my hard earned money was truly wasted! I also experience my first night a rude waiter in the main dinning area. Also they did not seat our entire party together one night due to others seating @ our assigned tables. They stated to us it was not a big deal, but our guest that was not able to be seated felt different. The only good thing I can say about this vacation was the staff was amazing. Stateroom staff, never had to asked for anything, I head waiter Joe was everything as well. he made sure everyone was please & the entertainment wasn't too bad but could have been more since we were struck @ sea most of the trip!!!! I don't think I will ever take a cruise with Royal again. They just didn't do us right!!!! The food was not as good in the main dinning area, The Windjammer was great through. My husband & did experience with a customer service desk member as well. Again Don't think I will do a Royal Caribbean cruise again after thinking about all we went through. Nothing in return to soften the blow. Just a big fat I took your money & what are you going to do about it?!!! That's how I have taken the experience on this cruise & ship. Read Less

The only thing I can say good about our cruise is that my teenage boys room steward, Rouston Rodrigues was Amazing. He not only cleaned my teenage boys room, made them animal towels, but interacted with them and my husband and myself throughout every day of our cruise. My husband and I saw our steward, Wilfred (I believe that was his name) only once when we boarded. In the Great Gatsby dining room, Shereen, our waiter and Noemi her assistant waiter always greeted us with a smile and was always courteous and generous with their time. We tipped all three of these employees very generously. We also appreciated that a RC employee was there tomake everyone hand sanitize before entering the Windjammer buffet. Sadly, many cruisers refused the hand sanitizer. Now, for the down side of our family trip. They was very little activitys to do, (for our teenage boys, my husband and myself) activity wise, unless my teenagers wanted to learn to dance the tango, attend wine tasting classes (they are only 14 and 15 yrs old) or play bingo. The rock climbing wall stayed closed throughout the entire cruise, They were told that they were “too young” (they are 14 and 15 yrs old) to workout in the gym and the shuffle board on top of the ship was always, “saved” for other adult cruisers. Both my boys were thrown out of the Solarium 3 times by different RC employees (they were just walking through the solarium to go to the Park Cafe for a snack, as unlike on other cruise lines, RC Grandeur of the Seas does NOT have a variety of food stations/restaurants open 24 hours a day). The food on the entire ship was subpar to mediocre at best. On more occasions than frankly I care to admit, in the Windjammer cafe, I witnessed passengers eating off their plates while still in line, contaminating the food in the buffet trays with their germs and actually verbally fighting and pushing people out of the way to get to the food. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Finding seating was nearly impossible in the Windjammer Cafe and my family of 4 (when we didn’t eat in the Gatsby dining room) usually had to eat out in the pool area. Speaking of the pool area, the pool was mysteriously closed twice during our cruise and only the hot tubs were available for use. Every cruiser I spoke to was annoyed and going “crazy” watching the big TV screen play the same dog/cat/little boy UTube video over and over and over and over at nauseaum. The same video played over and over for 8 days straight!! The only thing that my teenagers did enjoy was the Karaoke each nite, but unfortunately it was from 10pm to 11:30pm and run by a different RC employee each nite. On 2 occasions, other cruisers rudely told my teenage boys to leave the Pacific showroom where the Karaoke took place. Fortunately, I was there and my teenage sons were allowed to stay and participate. In the casino every day/nite was an extremely intoxicated male cruiser being extremely disrespectful to RC women employees and guests. Making sexual innuendos and being extremely rude, loud and insulting. Not one RC employee said anything to him, “because the cruiser is always right”. After witnessing this behavior for 2 nights, my husband finally said something to him. He became louder and even more aggressive and belligerent. He even told my husband to “step outside so he could teach him a lesson as he was going to whip his ass”. The male passenger was 60-70 yrs of age and my husband is 50 and a Lt. with the Baltimore City fire department. The pit boss finally stepped in and the man was asked to leave. Everyone, RC employees and cruiser alike thanked my husband profusely because they (the employees felt they couldn’t really do or say anything, because they are taught to bend over backwards for the guests) and the other cruisers were shocked and intimidated by this man and were apparently afraid to intervene. Sadly, the very next day and night the same drunk, sexually inappropriate, loud mouthed bully was at it again and allowed to continue that behavior for the rest of the cruise. Many cruisers said they stopped gambling all together or just all together refused to be at the same table with that loud mouth, sexual predator. I have cruised other lines, the last being 4 months ago on Carnival Pride. It’s a smaller ship, but the food was impeccable, the service amazing and there was always an activity and something fun to do, whether you were young, old or somewhere in between. The Pride also has a pizza place (Pizza Pirate) that is open 24 hours a day, along with Guy Ferri burgers and fries and the Blue iguana (Mexican food) along with their massive buffet. On other cruise line, you can get coffee, hot choclate, tea, lemonade and even ice, 24 hours a day or nite without having to call room service. Sadly, RC doesn’t offer these amenities. As for “A perfect day at CoCo Cay”, we were very disappointed. We did have beautiful weather and we were the only ship in port so it was not crowded. My husband did the Pig Island excursion, swam with the pigs and loved it. My teenage boys and I stayed behind on CoCo Cay island. I do NOT understand why RC (who owns COCO Cay island) feels the need to charge their cruisers to pay an extra fee for the “thrill island” side. RC OWNS the island, and as cruisers, we have already paid for the cruise. We didn’t pay extra to go to Naussa, Port Canaveral or Charleston. This is RC just trying to fleece more money off of their cruisers. When my family and I cruised Carnival Pride 4 months ago, we went to Half Moon Cay. (The island that Carnival owns). As cruisers, we were NOT charged for anything on the island that Carnival owns. Food was served at no extra charge, they had a band playing on the beach, and many of their Carnival employees were there interacting with the guests, playing sand and water games and truly getting to know each and every one of us. Even more disappointing and reprehensible is the fact that because we were the only ship at COCO Cay, they kept discounting the “thrill side” of the island from the original excursion price to a mere $10 by 2pm (the ship departed at 6pm) because NO ONE was on the “thrill side” of the island. The cabanas go for up to $300 on the beach. Because we were the only ship in port, people used the cabanas for FREE, while others got stuck having already paid for the $300 cabanas up front. It seems to me, and many of the RC cruisers my husband and I spoke to throughout our 8 day cruise, that RC is just out to make a quick buck and do the bear minimum. On other cruise lines, the mustered drill is 20-30 minutes long at a minimum. Our drill was 5 minutes long (if that) and it was to just electronically buzz everyone’s sail and sign card. They never even showed us how to put on a life jacket! My husband and I were in one room, with our teen age boys next door, yet we were assigned different mustered stations!! The Centrum is absolutely tooooo small as people saved seats and the same people were down there each and every night to listen to the band. Most the cruisers had to watch standing up, leaning on the railings or pull up chairs on the upper railings (all the way to floor 8), to watch and listen from afar. The comedy was awful (we had three comedians on our 8 day cruise). The ship board “broadway show” had to be cancelled because of an illness of one of the RC employees. The show went on the following nite, but it was definitely subpar and many people walked out by the middle of the show. All and all, I have sailed on many cruise lines, and RC is by far the worst. I even had an employee tell me that they really didn’t care about anymore of the Grandeur of the Seas sailings, as a “rich sheik had just purchased the ship for himself and his 158 wives and children and the ship was being sold and retired at the end of the 2019”. That was a very disappointing and upsetting comment to hear. My husband and I were also told that RC was a “step up” in clientele, sophistication, and class. On every other cruise line we have sailed on, formal night meant just that.... dressing up. Apparently NOT on the Grandeur of the Seas. Cruisers were in the main dining room (the Great Gatsby) in SHORTS on both formal nites!!! On any other cruise line, that would not have been allowed and they would have been asked to change. I could continue on, but I think I have made my point regarding our below par family trip on RC. It’s sad when my teenage boys stated once we returned home that they would have rather NOT missed school and 8 days of homework than to have gone on this specific cruise. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions regarding our subpar vacation. Read Less

I chose this cruise because my family wanted to cruise and not have to fly to do it. I had been on this ship before and it was ok. I thought it would be better this time since it was a few years ago since my last trip. SMOKING, SMOKING, SMOKING, I had no idea that carnival allowed smoking on the ship, at almost 4 areas. I was sick the entire time, the smoke caused lung issues and breathing issues for me the entire trip. I had to mostly stay in my cabin due to the smoke all over the ship. None of the areas were enclosed, so therefore the smoke was everywhere! I could not enjoy the casino, due to smoking and neither enjoy the activities in the main lobby areas due to the smoke all over! So really I hated the trip! Due to the smoke I needed some meds from the medical clinic, however if you did not catch them when they were open u had to wait 4 or 5 hours when ever they decided to open up again! Hint: medical facility should have 24 hour access on a ship! There were very few daily activities planned, got very bored with eating and sitting in the dining areas, absolutely nothing to do during the day! Food was barely warm, at all times, fries always cold! Never saw any sanitizing on the ship. RCCL always sanitizes the ship right before your eyes! Carnival, please order sufficient supplies in your medical unit, I was told the simple over the counter med., I needed was sold out, and it was the second day! Waters were really rocky and no explanation or notification was given at anytime about why the ship was so rocky the first two days of sail! Guys burger place had the (car wash rags for napkins) absolutely poor taste. Not looking forward to traveling with carnival again! Read Less

We had never been on a cruise before, but we're curious enough to give it a shot. So glad we did. We sailed out of Baltimore for the convenience factor. We live about 30 minutes north of Allentown, PA, so the drive wasn't bad at all. Cruise terminal was very easy to get to. Traffic flowed smoothly and all staff were VERY helpful. We breezed right through the security line, no waiting. We sat a bit until they were ready to let everyone board, but we were still in the serenity area on a clamshell with adult beverages in hand by 12:15. Our cabin was gorgeous. I'll admit, I was nervous. I read a lot of negative reviews about the conditions of cabins. Absolutely no complaints. There was a bit of rust on the balcony, but seeing as how it's a boat with a whole lot of exposure to salt water and weather, the rust was minimal. The staff were. All. Amazing. Japhett was our steward and was fantastic. It seemed as though he knew what we wanted before we did. Very attentive and really nice. We spent the bulk of our time on the Lido deck by the pool. Dr E was our cruise director and he was hilarious. With his "good morning" and "good evening" songs and everything in between, he kept us laughing all week long. Our favorite was the guess that 70s/80s song activity in the main atrium. He outdid himself. Huge shout out to all of the bartenders, but our favorites were Nebo and H at the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar. These guys are hilarious and super friendly. As for the negative reviews. I read a ton of these after I booked this cruise. Here's my 2 cents, and I've read other reviews saying the same thing: know what things are most important to you when you book your cruise. Don't book a Carnival cruise if all you're looking for is quiet and relaxation. We were incredibly relaxed when we came home, but there's a lot going on on this ship. If you're expecting super high end, maybe check out a different cruise line. This boat was exactly as it was advertised: family friendly and party-like atmosphere. In general, the negative reviews were extremely nit-picky. It's a vacation. You're on a cruise with 2,400 of your newest best friends. There's absolutely nothing worth getting all fired up about. Also, be nice to the staff. They live there. We're guests in their home. If you wouldn't do it in your own, don't do it there. (Yes, I'm talking to you, lady who dumped an entire plate of food in the buffet line and just walked away without so much as an apology to the crew member on the floor trying to pick everything up so no one would step on it. Also talking to the gentleman with the stellar personality who screamed at the attendant at the pizza station...I still haven't figured out what was so upsetting.) Sidenote: also know what you're looking for as far as entertainment. I read a ton of reviews about folks being wildly offended by the late night comedy shows. Here's the thing. On the daily newsletter, it says right on it that the late night comedy shows are rated R and only suitable for 18+. Further, before the show even started an announcement is made reminding everyone of such, and also suggests that if you're easily offended or even a little sensitive, you find your way out. The comedians were absolutely hysterical and don't deserve to be slammed for being totally offensive by folks who were well warned as to what they were getting into. Our cruise on the Carnival Pride has set off a total cruise addiction. We came home Sunday and booked our next cruise on Wednesday. Carnival is fantastic! Read Less

We enjoyed cruising on the Pride. Leaving from Baltimore is a plus. Only a 30 minute drive from home. Check in was a breeze, they had a good system that was quick. Slowed down to take a picture for memories. Boarded ship nlt 1pm and room was ready by 2pm. Met our stateroom steward, Tegum. He kept our room tidy and requests handled in a timely manner. This was our fifth time on the Pride. Our first stop was to Guy's Burger and we were not disappointed. The burgers are juicy, the extras are plentiful and the fries are just as delicious. Menu in dining room was okay, but we did try the sushi bar (the boat for Two) was more than enough, especially with soup and salad and a drink. We celebrated my birthday and Teguh surprised me with discounts for Spa and tours. We had an obstructed view balcony. Dr E, the Cruise Director was very entertaining and the highlight of the cruise. Itinerary was changed due to Dorian. We stopped at Amber Cove. The port had a variety of stores, restaurants, activities and beaches. The people were very nice and the port offered free wifi. We look forward to returning to Amber Cove in the future. Read Less

I choose this cruise for convenience as I live in Maryland and it was close to my birthday. Me and my girlfriend are both in our 30s and had a great time. Service on ship was excellent wether your talking about the MDR our room stewards etc.. We ate at chops and it was delicious we’re on the other royal ships we have been in. Izumi was also good we have eaten on other ships and then experience there was by far the best. I read a lot about this shop draws a older crowd and I could see that but it might just be when you go and your itinerary. Also read before we went that the shop shuts down at 10 or 11 o’clock which in my experience is also not true. They had live music in the centrum until at least midnight and one of the nights we went to the night club on board and people were still dancing partying etc and it was past 2am. The ship is small and for a young active couple I think 5 or maybe 7 nights max would be the perfect length on this ship as I think any longer I would have started to get board. Bermuda was awesome and beautiful and hopefully will be able to go back soon. Overall I had a great time and at the end of the day your vacation is all about what you make it. Read Less

I was unable to book any excursions due to an injury prior to the cruise, but there was shopping and swimming right off the ship. I have to admit, I had all but given up on Carnival's food before this trip, but they did a fantastic job. It was definitely up to par this time. I would book on this ship again as the staff was very welcoming and attentive. The only complaint that I could muster is that the shower did not maintain temperature throughout. It would go from a little too hot to a little too cold. Read Less

We chose this cruise as it was the spring break of our soon to be graduating daughter (HS), and it is an easy three hour drive to Baltimore. We have always loved the Port of Baltimore for efficiency and ease! We have been on three Enchantment cruises in the past that we absolutely loved! I did read the reviews of the Grandeur (after booking, unfortunately , and had some concerns that the Grandeur would be different based on hearing it was for "the older" passenger demographic). Hey, I am no spring chicken, so due to proximity, and praying that this is spring break time, there would be something for my daughter to enjoy while making friends. Well, alas, it was not the case. I am not going to "bash" this cruise. We were in room 7078, a balcony with an awesome location! There were many "highs", and we did have fun. John Blair, the Cruise Director and his wife, worked very hard to make everyone's trip a fabulous event. He is an INCREDIBLY talented singer, and his Neil Diamond show was incredible! What a voice! Enjoyed the dancers and singers .... will not lie, I have heard better but also far worse. Good comedians, and overall great entertainment. Our room steward, Cornelius and waiters, AJ and Andy were fabulous! Dinners very good; not the best, but considering the number of guests they are feeding? We did not buy tickets for the upscale restaurants, but I heard a variety of reviews. I guess I just feel that you are already paying a significant cost, so the "push" for upscale meals is trying. There is seemingly never ending marketing for additional revenue; that is for sure! You can get some good buys, but many are overpriced or simply "junk". We did buy a Citizen watch. 35% off, but the retail price stated was less than looking the same one up on line. We usually play bingo .... did not even go as we heard it was $40 to play! The casino??? Horrible!!!! Never ending losses, machines a joke, and how the dealers keep pulling 21's is remarkable, to say the least. On previous cruises, they at least give you a free drink when losing your shirt; no longer happening! All in all, I would rate this cruise a 3.5. We did have a great time, met great people, and had lovely men and women working hard in their jobs to serve us. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and relatively calm seas. The Grandeur apparently has a huge following, and we now know it is geared for an "older" geographic population that enjoys smaller ships and is not focused on her "older" appearance with fewer activities. Not sure how long she will continue to be in service ...... but perhaps they need to take that into account when establishing pricing. Again, we did enjoy the trip ...... just trying to give an accurate evaluation of what to expect so there is no disappointment or regrets for your choice. Read Less

My husband and I went with another couple to the Bahamas on Carnival Pride March 10, 2019. We were super impressed with how clean the ship was. Staff seemed to be cleaning all the time. Our steward was Rommell and kept our suite clean twice a day. The main dining room food was better than any 5 star restaurant! The filet mignon was AMAZING! We ate at buffets most mornings. As a pizza lover I was very happy that they had pizza 24 hours and they make it fresh while you wait. We ate one night at Dave’s Steakhouse. It was ok but I was just as happy with the ships main dining area. The staff on the whole ship was always happy and fun. Our cruise director, Dr. E was so funny and really made the voyage entertaining! He is very talented and reminded me of a young Steve Harvey. We loved our ocean suit and was amazed at how much storage there was. There were a lot of great shows but I have to say the best show was Love&Marriage hosted by Dr. E. The comedians were great as well. Getting off and on the ship was very efficient. The cruise line really had the process organized. There was only a few things I would say could be better: 1. not much shopping on board and very expensive jewelry. 2. There was only 1 American power outlet. All others were Europe German. Would have been nice if they had put an American outlet on both sides of room and the didn’t have the option to buy a European plug on ship. 3. Wish that casino was smoke free or at least have a stronger ventilation so it wasn’t so strong. 4. The tv was awful and remote seldom worked. There weren’t many show options on tv to watch. Read Less

Service was great, we loved our serving team in the main dinning room (Gabriel, Eko, and Braz). I recommend them if you have the My Time Dinning. The ship was clean and all staff was very nice. If you are looking for a trip with teens or pre-teens I suggest a newer ship. The Pride is limited for activities (unlike the Horizon and Sunshine). They have the normal stuff; pools, water slides, ping pong, basket ball etc but thats about it. For us it was great for relaxing on the lido deck and Serenity area. Shows are great, comedians were great (my face hurt i was laughing so much). Over all a good ship. Oh and Dr E is awesome. Read Less

We chose this ship primarily because of the cheaper cost, itinerary. (St Croix) and port of departure. We own property on St Croix and wanted to visit to take care of a little business as well as see friends and have a vacation in the mean time. Price: This cruise was cheaper than getting to JFK, flying to STX, renting a car for a week, renting a cottage for a week and handling all our food expenses. I think the location as well as price attracts many repeat cruisers. We found people who had been on the ship 33 times! 3-6 times was fairly common. Also, as others have said, it is an old crowd with many diamond members. Crew: They are excellent. Every one of them. Can't say enough nice things about the wait staff, room attendants, customer service etc. They get to know you quickly, like to kid around and talk and always took good care of us. Passengers: Much older crowd with very few kids. That's ok because they tend to be a laid back, smart, experienced crowd that are fun to meet. Maybe it's the mid-west and mid-atlantic vibe due to the departure location but almost everybody is very friendly. Some folks practically live on this ship. Activities: It's an older ship and doesn't have a lot of activities, especially in the evenings. That's ok with us. We are 60 & 64. We don't need DJ blasting pool parties. If we really want to see a Broadway show we'll take a train to Broadway. A little more entertainment and more outdoor dance options like an afternoon pool party would be nice. They did have a fun 70's night but most dances seemed to cater to an older crowd of very well practiced dancers doing waltzes, cha-cha's and even tangos. That left us feeling a bit left out but the showy dancers are still friendly. Most dancing takes place in the Centrum which is ringed with seats for 3 levels and open all the way from decks 4 through 8. It was nice to be able to walk down the hall from our deck 8 room and look down & check out what is going on. We enjoyed "enrichment" watercolor painting with Rosemary and her hubby. They are a lot of fun. Also the after 9 PM piano singalongs in the schooner bar with Russ were fun. What shows they did have were fun with comedians, singers and a jazz sax player. My wife saw the cruise director put a great Neil Diamond tribute. I was at a wine tasting at the time. Ports: We did a 12 night Eastern Caribbean run and the ports are were very good. St Croix, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Martin. We mostly did 3rd party tours. We had one RCL excursion on St Lucia; a catamaran ride for sightseeing, swimming at a bay and then viewing the Pitons. The crew on the cat was a blast and very knowledgeable. On/off was super easy as the cat was docked right in front of our ship at the port. Cabins: I said that we went cheap. We were in an interior room. It was 136 sq feet. It was tight getting in & out of bed but otherwise very serviceable with plenty of cubbies to put stuff. Others have said that suitcases don't fit under the bed. We solved that by leaving then open so they slid under, but that limits how many you can fit. I suggest bring bags that nest inside each other when empty like Russian Dolls. Bottom line: if you like an older crowd and are looking for a laid back relaxing ship this fits the bill. We would defiantly go again if we were still going be nearby the departure point. Read Less

A little history first my wife and I have been on at least 15 previous cruises with Disney, Celebrity, Princess,NCL and bulk with RC. We live outside of Philly so it is almost the same drive time to NY, Bayonne, and Baltimore. We prefer to sail out of any of the FL ports, quicker in the warm weather. Love to cruise in the winter months to escape the cold for a while. We already knew a little about the Grandeur being a older smaller ship but we like the smaller ships we love the Enchantment and seriously wish for its return to Baltimore those 72 extra feet are well worth it. Boarding was very easy as was disembarkation not a whole lot of the ship to see so we did lunch and went up to the Solarium which also was serving lunch a great place to have a light lunch we learned on the next 4 sea days would highly recommend. Down to our cabin 4026 which was "seriously" decorated for our 45th wedding anniversary which was done with out my knowledge but greatly appreciated wine, door decorations, wall hangings, pillow case's, beach towel, amazing. Met our room steward Abu.the best we have ever had and very happy to have had him. Room was plenty big when the bed was separated but the beds were extremely tough not very comfortable my Navy rack was better Abu managed to make the wife's a little better because we heard that they have some extra padding, this is one issue, but decor is nice. We had a ocean view large window but it was almost not worth it dirt/salt/age made it not so great to see out of. Dinning was the average with RC very good to just OK Chops GREAT Giovanni's Table wont do again and not worth it in our minds almost rushed there and food was less Italian than expected but staff in both were excellent and friendly. Don't like My Time Dinning at all because we like to build up a relationship with our servers and we had the same two for almost 7 nights but the guys who seats you captain/maitre d found it hard to seat us in their section if you came after 5:15 but left a table by the window empty on 3 separate nights for our whole meal while we were sitting next to a pole. But he did accommodate people that kissed his but and pressed some green in his hand, and I don't play that game till the end and he got nothing extra at all. Our servers were excellent as was almost all the staff we encountered, especially the morning staff in the Windjammer superb. Hardly anything to do during sea days that attracted us much. Pool deck was ok but the "large" screen showings were run and rerun to death and the middle of the screenwent black and not repaired for the last sea days like they didn't care. Cruise director and his staff we very nice and great energy and very good shows but almost the same on all RC ships. The theater shows were pretty good overall with the juggler being our favorite. The itinerary was what interested us the most. Have never been to Saint Lucia and the rest were islands we have been to before and loved so it was an easy choice and the price. Train Ride in St Kitts have to do it once we did it twice now and love it, Beach Excursions in Antigua and St Martin both worth it did our own thing in Saint Lucia 6 1/2 hour tour to see the Pitons with Gousel Tours would highly recommend. Saint Croix did the red fort tour on our own and walked around town not much to see in Frederiksted. Now why I wouldn't sail on her again till they get her fixed besides the rust and gunk on the windows and general rust on the hull the smell of the ship is rather disturbing in the bathroom was horrific till the wife out in one of the two Yankee Candle air freshers she was warned to bring even the outside of the ship while waiting for excursion smelled like a toilet bowl started calling it the Depends Of The Saes and other noted it also but has not been addressed. It was to go into drydock for two weeks but it should stay there much longer to take care of major issues the old girl need a major overhaul not carpets and refresh of the paint. The Centrum deck 4 port side had a fan blowing the carpet dry the entire cruise what is that about. The shope onboard were small and had very little to offer even RC merchandise lost money from us the wife can spend for sure. Last thing negative I have and it is a minor issue we bought post cards in every port to send home to our granddaughters because all kids like getting mail spent $1.05 per stamp to have them sent out and you know where they were sent out from Baltimore when we got home little bit of fraud there RC wwas told the mail was picked up every day in port. Overall buyer be ware! Just to be sure we have booked and other RC out of NY for 2020 even though the perks are getting worse and worse and they are nickle and dimming us to death. Read Less

I had never cruised before so wanted to see what it was like. Was told this was a nice ship but nobody informed you that the second floor smells like cigarette smoke and it seeps down to the first floor deck so I felt like one big cigarette. You cannot even go in the Casino without your throat hurting or chocking on the cigarette smoke. It is so unfair to those that want to gamble but cannot stand the smoke. The drinks were weak and very expensive and if you wanted the drink package you had to buy for everybody in your room but my partner did not drink so I was not paying another 400.00 for his drinking that he would never do. The staff were ok except for the guy at the grill who made you feel like it was a big problem to do a special order. It was kept clean which was reassuring. The Steak House was excellent and the best part of the meals on this trip. The hot tubs were not hot and so little you could never get in because other people were in them. The pool on the Serenity deck looked like some scum was in it so did not want to go in it. The entertainment was nothing to be desired but the comedy club had great comedians except for the first guy on the first show. The last two guys and CJ Jones were excellent. Thought it was somewhat cheesy and would expect better entertainment for the amount of time you spend on this ship. The jewelry is way over priced and you are better off to buy it in one of the Ports. Carnival has a great marketing strategy to charge for all kinds of things so don't go on this ship thinking you have paid your way as all inclusive. I was charged 3.75 for a coke. You will get a nice bill at the end! Don't believe I would ever go on this ship again just because of the smoking. The shore excursions were ok but have had better staying in a resort. The smoking was the worst. It was horrible and made for a mediocre trip. Read Less

The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make everyone happy ! We will definitely sail with royal Caribbean again ! It is a small ship but that is what we love about her. Everything went very smoothly ! Our 30 year old son and his gf were with us and they had a wonderful time even though most of the guests are elderly . Can't wait to sail on her again ! Our room attendant Ida was great . Also loved our waitstaff Johannes Salmen and Erhon. We always ate in the dining room . Didn't step one foot into the windjammer. The food was excellent ! We enjoyed being waited on so always went to main dining room ! Will definitely sail with royal Caribbean again ! Loved that we could just drive to the terminal in 2 and half hours. Stayed at a hotel for one night and they supplied a shuttle to the port and left our car in their parking lot till we returned. Read Less

Great value for all it offers. The entertainment is really good. The crew as well as the guests are some of the friendliest at sea. Love the smaller ship atmosphere. The Great Gatsby Dining Room is staffed by great waiters and is elegant in decor. The CD on this particular cruise was Mike (Polish name) and he was awesome. Our room was very clean and very nice, but wish the beds were higher to slide our luggage under. I still wish they had better hair dryers. I also feel that they should make the showtimes 7:30 and 9:30 instead of 7 and 9. We always seem to be rushed through early dining to get to the first show and even if we make it seats are pretty much gone by the times we finish dessert. We rarely can stay up for the later show as we have busy days and tire easily. Read Less

Carnival Pride is affordable and let me see a part of the world I thought I would never see! Carnival made our 7 day Bahamas trip so great. The food was fresh and always available, the entertainment consisted of comedians, mega deck parties, musicals, arts and crafts, dinner wait staff dancers, and I can’t say enough to brag on the staff, they were so friendly and worked so hard to ensure we had every thing we needed all the time and let’s me say we all especially loved Cookie the Cruise Director who made the events fun and he has a carefree personality that I enjoyed and Cookie and all the staff made the trip worth every dime. I will be booking another trip soon. I plan to bring more family with me on the next trip! Till next time Carnival chow for now. Love, Mari, Sarah, Rebecca and Danielle Read Less

This is my second time cruising on Carnival Pride from Baltimore. It has been 8 years since I been on this boat. This boat needs a really good renovation. It's outdated from the decor to the ship. Some spots were leaking where we were standing, the decor is old and peeling. You can see all of the aging and wear and tear on the ship. The bathroom shower kept overflowing and water was everywhere on our bathroom floor. We had to keep the toilet seat down because it kept smelling like urine. The movie screen shows all the pixels in the world. Baltimore need some renovated boats to leave from this terminal. But on the upside, the cruise director Cookie was excellent. He kept us entertained each day. He is a major staple on this ship. He will make your cruise that much enjoyable and it takes your mind off of the negatives of the boat. I don't like go write reviews or give negative comments. I love Carnival cruises and I'm just hoping that enough people agree that this boat needs a makeover very badly that it will fall into the right hands to be replaced with a more updated ship. But please, never replace your cruise director Cookie. I would follow him on any cruise he's directing. And also, can they please find a better port to stop at beside Freeport. Theres never anything to do in Freeport. Read Less

This ship has one the highest return rates in the RC fleet. The A++ service is just one reason. The activities and entertainment are superior. Fellow passengers are friendly. My wife and I traveled alone, but we easily made friends. Our cabin had plenty of room. Food quality was not always perfect. The breakfast and lunch at either the main dining room or the buffet was almost always praiseworthy. The lunch salad bar at the main dining room is not to be missed. The ham at the breakfast buffet melts in your mouth. The quality of entrees at dinner missed my high expectations. All "Fish of the Day" were frozen. The pork tended to be tough; I had to pray for a steak knife to cut a chop. Chicken breasts needed more marinating. On the other hand, the beef dishes were outstanding. My wife gave pasta dishes a high mark. Drink prices are very high and then RC adds an automatic 18% gratuity tax on your bill. Sailing out of Baltimore gives mid-Atlantic cruisers a real cost saving, rather than flying to and from Florida. Read Less

The Carnival Pride is my favorite ship and not just because she conveniently docks in Baltimore. I love the layout and the variety of public areas. (I've spent a total of 45 nights across five cruises on her now.) With venues like the Card Room, Library, Chapel and Sunset Garden, you can always find a quite place to sit. I have always been pleased with the service on the Pride. And, on the relaxation front, I like that there are both indoor and outdoor hot tubs. I love Guys Burgers, the Blue Iguana Cantina and Bonsai Sushi. Bonsai Sushi does cost extra, but it is nominal, and well worth it. On our most recent cruise, Cookie was our Cruise Director, and he is amazing! He is funny, and so caring. There were lots of activities for all interests. I enjoyed bingo, sports contests, trivia and other games, while my husband enjoyed different alcohol tastings put on by the Fun Shops. When sailing out of Baltimore I recommend not selecting the earliest check-in time slot. Many people get there early causing a bottleneck in the lines to get. Choosing a little latter time slot will help make your embarkation a little less stressful. Note: The Pride is in need if a little facelift, but she is scheduled for dry dock in early 2019. Read Less
