I just returned from a 12 day cruise on Enchantment of the Seas. I sailed with my sisters and BIL.Embarkation:We drove to the port of Baltimore from our home in central Virginia. We have sailed from this port several times before and always have arrived around 10 to 10:30 a.m. Never had a wait before but this time when we arrived shortly after 10 a.m. they were not allowing cars into the parking lot. We were lined up to wait. The ship had arrived on time that morning but passengers didn't start to embark until around 11 a.m. so we didn't have access to the parking area. We waited until around 11:30 before the line started to move. From that point on things went smoothly and we were on board and in the Windjammer eating lunch before 12:30. Never did hear a reason for the delayed embarkation.Stateroom:There were 4 of us adults in the Royal Family Suite #8666. We have stayed in this category stateroom on the Grandeur and the room was basically the same. We had 3 flat screen TV's-one in each bedroom and one in the living room. The balcony was huge and we enjoyed it a lot.The room and balcony need some work. Carpet was stained in the stateroom and on the balcony the railing was white with age and needed staining badly. This in no way kept us from having a wonderful cruise.Public areas:All public areas were very well maintained and keep very clean. Shows: I really didn't go to many shows so can't comment on the entertainment. Others in my family enjoyed them very much. I was glad we had reserved seating (a perk of the suite) as the nights I was in there it was standing room only.Concierge Lounge:It was very nice and Reyno was wonderful. We visited this room several times each day but didn't stay. It was so hot in there that it was very uncomfortable. We would get drinks and snacks and take back to our room. Staff:We had one of the best stateroom attendants ever on this cruise. He did a wonderful job of cleaning our room twice a day and very quickly got us feather pillows and a blanket instead of that heavy comforter which is on the bed.Dining room staff was also very nice and served us quickly each night. I really don't like having to wait so long between courses and our waiter did a great job of keeping the courses flowing nicely without us feeling rushed.Food:I was not impressed with the food with the exception of our dinner at Chops one night. That meal was wonderful. The menu in the dining room was repeated several times. Desserts were not good except for the last night when we had key lime pie which was delicious. Food in the Windjammer was hit and miss also. Again this didn't ruin our cruise. We didn't go hungry.Ports:We've done these ports several times before when this cruise was a 9 day. We loved the addition of 3 days and the ports of Tortola and St. Martin. We're not fans of Samana and are glad to see that in 2012 this port is removed and Antigua will be added.So--we had a great time. The weather was wonderful. The staff was great (but we did miss Capt. Rob who was on vacation.) We liked it so much that we booked again for March 2012. Read Less

We've been on the Enchantment before and still like her. Very friendly crew that worked hard under tough circumstances. (Norovirus) The ports were great, but the cruise was really an Eastern Caribbean rather than a Southern. The food variety was excellent in the dining room as well as the Windjammer (buffet). Food quality was also very good except for the Angus steaks. Ordered them twice (medium and medium well)and they were tough. Entertainment was good to very good with lots of variety. The on board musicians were excellent also with a good variety. There were plenty of activities for all to get involved in, so one only had themselves to blame if they didn't participate. Having two cruise days down and three back was good to unwind and relax on the way back. Rough water on the way to Labadee, Haiti had a number of passengers sick. Samana, Dominican Republic was a new port for us and the tour we took to the falls was enjoyable except for the rough roads. Biggest problem was disembarkation, it took too long and seemed not to be well organized. We had a great time! I'd rate the experience 4+ out of 5. Read Less

The last minute packing was relaxing because the drive to the port was only 40 minutes. Thanks Baltimore for opening the port to cruise ships. It was cold outside but we were able to get into our stateroom to drop off items and go to Windjammer to get lunch. So what we left the port late because they needed more time to onboard food for the 12 days - dinner was on time and our vacation had started. The room sizes are the room sizes and those of us going on the cheap know that. We only use our rooms for changing clothes and sleeping. The rest of the time hanging out on the pool deck was where we wanted to be - even while still in cold weather area. The Solarium was there to protect us from it. The food was okay. Some improvements could be made such as more liquid in the pancakes. All the water/juice coffee stations weren't opened 24 hours so you had to walk further sometimes but hey that helped to walk off the prior meal! It is hard to feed over 2500 people with different likes and dislikes so I do admire the cook staff for their hard work. The staff on board was great and it always makes the trip when you see they are happy and loving their jobs. Our dinner wait staff was the best and helped us out with special food requests. Having a couple days at sea prior to 6 days at port was nice so you can get relaxed (forget about work), make ship board friends and get into a cruise routine. The 6 ports were good and we did tours at each one. Just wish there was more time to be in the ports so you could do more onshore such as do a tour, go back to ship for lunch and then go back out on your own. We hate rushing on vacation and definitely don't want the experience of missing the ship leave the port. The nightly entertainment was the best. We only had 2 nights with the on board team. The other nights had something for everyone - music, comic, magic. The talent was amazing and what a value - Vegas shows for cruise prices. Great people on the cruise and yes it was a more mature crowd with few under 18 but hey that's why some of us picked this time -- we cruise for the R&R and not the party life. 12 days to cruise was great. When you take a 7 day or less, about day 5 you are just getting relaxed and into the routine when you realize it is almost over but with 12 days, you still have 7 more days plus we had 3 days at sea after the 6 port days to rest and just hang around the pool. We were delayed getting off the ship but the crew made sure we were safe and had something to eat and drink. We did find our luggage quickly and was on our way home in no time. The only down side was all the dirty clothes to take care of when we got home. Overall, it was a great trip and would recommend. Read Less
