When reading the Hurtigruten publicity for the refitted Trollfjord you would expect to find an exquisite small cruise ship, what you get is an overcrowded cheaply converted coastal ferry.
The standard cabins are small with low cost fittings. Our bathroom cabinet didn’t close and the shower fitting fell to bits. The bed was uncomfortable.
Dinning was not the highlight one would hope for. ...
Pros are supposed to go before cons, so I will put the positives first, but please don’t miss the negatives later in this review, because although there were a few redeeming qualities, make no mistake, I would never sail with MSC again.
First positive, all the staff below the managerial level deserve to be commended for being true, if not powerless, delights. We had many wonderful interactions ...
First Cruise with P & O and extremely disappointing. Definitely not good value for money.
The ship is old and tired. We had a wonderful cabin steward, who was helpful and friendly. Our cabin was clean but in need of a whole refurbishment. The first night we dined in The Meridian, the service was awful, we waited 50 minutes for our starter, then 50 minutes for our main. The wine arrived with ...
Booked a European cruise that sailed out of Southhampton in October. First the good. The meals were good. The Garden Cafe buffet was actually good with a variety and selection that pleased multiple tastes. We also enjoyed the the food at Cagney's and Moderno. They make good food for specialty diners. The crew were very friendly and attentive to doing great service in housekeeping, food, ...
Chose this cruise as for 12 nights there were 8 ports of call so not many sea days. Sadly a massive storm started on the day of embarkation and messed up the whole trip. Delayed departure and then two ports were cancelled which couldn't be helped. Weather was atrocious throughout. Ship was packed and there was no "quiet space". All public areas were too small and you were continually on top of ...
The cruise was a fairly typical cruise until the final night of the cruise. I was standing on my room's balcony observing the departure from the port of Le Havre, France. Now remember that every cruise line you have ever sailed on repeatedly lectures you on not throwing anything overboard. I was standing there enjoying the departure when I was deluged with an unknown liquid from the deck above. I ...
Norwegian Getaway is a ship that is totally centred on it's mainly USA clientele. We weren't expecting that - for a no-fly cruise from/to Southampton encompassing mainly Northern Europe. There were no concessions to it's UK passengers in terms of catering (no British back bacon - just the dreadful American stuff. No HP sauce, no Marmite, no skimmed milk) Minor niggles I accept - but without ...
As you can see from other reviews, the organization and communication was very rough. I don’t know why. The lines to get on and off the ship and the waiting times were very long. Most staff seemed either unable or unwilling to control the crowds and the lines.
It often felt like neither the crew nor the passengers knew what was going on. For example, the captain cancelled Dublin due to ...
Chosen for 16 day Northern Europe itinerary. 3 days of excursions were cancelled due to weather. Ship arrived late at two additional ports. On board activities were crowded, people had to sit on deck for many activities. Restaurant lines were so long they blocked elevator access. Onboard entertainment required reservations for many shows and passengers who attempted to book these on board found ...
We chose NCL as we'd been on a few cruises before with other companies and have enjoyed them all. We mistakenly thought NCL would be similar.
I would never, under any circumstances travel with this ridiculous company again and would strongly recommend others to avoid them.
The ship is very nice, the staff are mostly approachable with a couple of very notable exceptions the interiors are ...
