A New Favorite Cruise Line

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Europa 2

As American English-speaking first timers on Hapag-Lloyd, we chose this cruise to try the storied line (with a long and very distinguished history, much like Cunard), and to be on a smaller upmarket ship, but with a completely different, German vibe. We were not disappointed. It was a wonderful overall cruise experience. Europa 2 is a small(er) ship and is quiet and subdued, with a very sleek ...

Excellent ship; great food; no nickel and dimming; beautiful room; incredible bathroom; public bathrooms clean and beautiful; plenty of hand sanitizers everywhere; great specialty restaurants with several of them included in the fare; efficient port stops; great staff with few exceptions; plenty of seating in restaurants and in public spaces; great menus; some dishes too salty; entertainment is ...

We could not have wished for more

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

Cruise chosen as it was a round trip from Southampton [Portsmouth], so that did not involve flying and we could drive right to the terminal and leave the car in the hands of the efficient on-site parking company. We boarded smoothly and went directly to our cabin. We sailed on time into the Channel, where the sea was very smooth. The cabin was excellent and newly re-furbished. The ...

Excellent apart from a few niggles

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Seven Seas Splendor

We chose cruise because of destinations we hadn’t been to, 3 of which were cancelled or changed. We emailed our disappointment but the company didn’t even have the courtesy to reply!! Why on a luxurious ship are there no automatic doors in public places? Other ships have them so it can’t be due to weather conditions. It’s a hygiene issue Biggest niggle is the designated smoking area on deck ...

Crystal Serenity Solo Experience was excellent.

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Crystal Serenity

User Avatar

I just had the time of my life on this cruise. I am a 60-something widow and this is my first cruise sailing solo since my husband passed. He and I had sailed Crystal six times, on all three ships, and loved it. I chose this cruise because I was happy to see Crystal come back, Iceland is on the bucket list, and, well, it was time to get back out there traveling. I flew to Reykjavik two days ...

The "New" Crystal Serenity Makes a Grand Entrance With a trans-Atlantic crossing to the New World

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Crystal Serenity

The “New” Crystal Serenity comes to the New World in a trans-Atlantic crossing that began in Britain and ended in Quebec. Are you a past Crystal guest who wants to know: What’s different? What’s new? What’s better, what’s worse? If you don’t feel like reading a long report, then you can settle for a one-sentence summary: WITH VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS THE “NEW” CRYSTAL SERENITY IS AS ...

Exceeded expectations

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Bolette

Second Fred Olsen cruise had something to live up to. Chosen because another Fred ship had relatively poor cruise critic reviews but Bolette reviews were very good. A good decision. We chose grade E deck 2 outside cabin which was always clean and always comfortable with no extraneous noises. Parking in Southampton was easy and free, embarked without delay close to dock. Returning to ...

Be prepared for excellence

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Viking Star

User Avatar

We chose this cruise for the itinerary, always dreamed of visiting Iceland. This was our second Viking trip, first ocean cruise. We knew the level of excellence to expect from our experience on a Viking river cruise, but were pleasantly surprised at how Viking even surpassed that expectation. The ship was emaculate, the food delicious and very accommodating for my vegetarian diet, the crew ...

Epic travel experience

My husband has never been a cruising enthusiast, but this itinerary was appealing. This was our first Viking cruise, and we had such a marvelous time. The staff was top notch, the food superb, the ship lovely and quiet. Everything was to our liking, and we have now booked another Viking cruise! My husband said the experience was like being in a 5 star hotel that sailed you to your various ...

Great Cruise, but Poor Pre-Cruise Experience at Reykjavik

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Viking Star

Having cruised with several cruise lines and Viking river cruises, we were attracted to the Viking Ocean Cruise offering. We chose Iceland and Greenland as exotic destinations which we would otherwise never visit. The cruise itself was excellent, as one would expect from Viking, but it would be fair to say that the Viking river cruises are probable a little ahead in many respects. The ship is ...
