I chose this cruise because I was looking for an inexpensive cruise option for first time cruise passengers as an Early Mother's Day gift for my mother and myself. Found the deal on Groupon for $249 for 2 with an "all inclusive stay aboard with an oceanview cabin room". After I did more research and found out about the governmental taxes and the gratuities and did my calculations which made it a little over $400, I was still on board. Made the purchase, contacted groupon to figure out how to redeem and book the cruise. After doing that, I was ready to go and very excited. Fast forward to our cruise date: my mother doesn't fly on planes but we don't live too far away to drive so I didn't mind driving the 13 hours to arrive at the port. We get there, its beautiful and were ready to board and maybe get back off until we actually set sail and look around palm beach right? No. We get waived into overnight parking and immediately get herded in like cattle. Rushed to the point that both of us were irritated and shouting "we've never done this before!" We were bewildered and just following the herding procedure they forced upon us. After getting inside and getting ready to go thru the metal detector and bag xray area, a ship employee in plain clothes who was apparently running late screams at me and my mother to put our bags on the conveyor belt and by this point my excitement was gone and I had had enough. After a stern look to the employee I apologized and asked if she wanted to go ahead. She said no smiled uncomfortably and asked us to put our bags on the conveyor belt again. We slammed our things thru and passed security and got upstairs to check in and receive our boarding pass card things. The attendant at the counter upstairs was a delight and very friendly and she eased our minds. We thought maybe we were just on edge from traveling and started to dismiss the rudeness from downstairs. After we received our room keys we went to board the ship and got harrassed at the hallway before the door about excursions, add on packages for alcohol, dining packages, photo packages, spa packages all very much priced out of our budget with an additional 18% gratuity. Oh and not to mention it says ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE that we HAVE to have a card on file for them to charge if we want something while on the ship that automatically puts a $100 hold on...oh and this card? This is the one that the initial $13.95 per person/per night gratuities are taken from. Not when you pay for the cruise, which makes absolutely no sense. I don't have a credit card. My mother had to put her credit card on file or we were not going to be allowed to board the ship. Once we board the ship we are told that the state rooms will NOT BE READY until 2pm and it was just now 11:30am. All I wanted to do was eat something and take a nap and allow myself to regroup and enjoy this experience which sucked so far. Were asked to go to the top deck where we are allowed to smoke cigarettes and purchase alcohol or we can go to the buffet area and get something to eat while we wait on our room. We go to the buffet which was ok, not the best but I have certainly seen worse at restaurants on land so I wasn't too disappointed. There were a lot of options available for picky eaters like myself. We sat down to eat and are asked in the 45 minute time frame that we are in the buffet area a total of 13 times all by different server/attendant people if we wanted to buy a $17 plastic cup that came with 2 alcoholic drinks of our choice. We declined so much that it was almost as if we were swatting them away like mosquitoes. They told us at 1pm that our rooms were ready so we made our way upstairs and only 1 of our 3 bags was in our room. The other 2 bags had mine and my mother's prescriptions as well as other important personal items and toiletries as well as most of our clothing and other items in them. We waited for about 30 minutes for the other bags to arrive and when they didn't, I stepped out and found and attendant who was bringing bags upstairs and I located our bags and brought them to our room. I changed clothes and fell asleep. When i woke up, there was a blaring intercom announcement with an extremely thick accent that we couldn't understand telling us to go to a room for a safety demonstration. It took about 45 minutes of more extremely thick accents and life vest demonstration before I could return to my room. I went back to my room and went back to nap. When I woke up it was raining and it never stopped. The entire time. Even when we arrived in the Bahamas, nothing. But. RAIN. All we were able to do was make 1 trip to the duty free shops and after going to a second souvenir type gift shop in the duty free area and the attendant argued about the price tag that was on the item and then refused us service. All we did was eat and sleep. The formal dining experience was lovely. Our waiters there were awesome. Food was wonderful. Live music was pretty good given that we didn't have many other choices for entertainment because it literally rained the entire time. Everything else was too expensive. The included amenities are fine if you're able to enjoy some time on the beach but I feel like if you get rained in, they should offer some other amenities that they normally charge for for free to build respect and confidence in the purchase. They didn't care about any of the passengers or whether or not they were enjoying themselves. We finally caved on the last day and bought a $17 cup each because there was literally nothing else to do so we figured let's drink right? No. The drinks were poorly mixed to where we couldn't even drink the whole drink each time we filled our cups. We had no idea where to find anything on the ship and what amenities were included with cruise fare. It was like a word search on the cruise itinerary to figure out what was included. This was so exhausting. I would've been more relaxed if I would've stayed home and my mother agreed. It was an old cruise ship and it was evident. The attendants were literally only worried about their 18% gratuity and treated us like cash cows. They nickel and dimed us to DEATH. Worst vacation experience ever I will never ever use this cruise line again. Even if it was free. I'd rather pay 4 grand to a reputable cruise line than use this trash again. It ruined my mother's day gift to my mother and made the experience horrible. Read Less

We loved it! Service was amazing and that made the vacation fantastic! We traveled with my parents and my kids (13 and 9). RC changed the itinerary twice without compensation. They canceled a day at Coco Cay and replaced it with Miami of all places! Then they canceled grand Bahama island and made it 2 days in Nassau. But boat was fun and we had a great time. All of the food was delicious. We all tried new foods and ate a lot. My teen was in food heaven- room service for pre- breakfast, buffet for breakfast, buffet/dining room for lunch, cafe for afternoon snack, buffet for pre-dinner snack, dining room for dinner. Trivia and other games were fun to play as a family. We won family bingo and got medals! Excursion to blue lagoon was to die for. Go there if you can. Well worth the money! Btw, this was our first cruise and we all get motion sickness easily. I was motion sick the first night. We were still on the Chesapeake bay so I was thinking I would have to get off cruise at first port (because I thought the ocean would be way worse). But then we all put on a scopolamine patch and sea bands. We felt great the rest of the trip. Read Less

The Norwegian Breakaway’s 7-day trip from New York City began up to par with expectations and appeared to set the bar high in regards to efficiency in feeding and assisting the 4,000 passengers that embarked on December 29th. This was my and my boyfriend’s first cruise, so we greatly appreciated the efficient check-in process that the Norwegian crew provided, and they were extremely helpful in answering our questions once aboard. From then forward, we had an extremely satisfactory initial first days of the cruise, and embraced Norwegian’s Freestyle Cruising and laid-back atmosphere. In addition, the wait staff as well as our stewardess were particularly helpful and personable. The itinerary of the fifth cruise day included a visit to Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian’s island, but we were informed that we would be unable to attend the island due to poor water conditions (the impending storm, Grayson, which we were not informed of). However, passengers were already at the island location, and they were immediately transported off the island by the crew. The itinerary of that day was hindered by the change of plans, ushering passengers to instead loiter around the ship, offering limited activity options, though this was understandable due to the focus of crew/passenger safety. We were obviously disappointed from the loss of the day, but safety, as the Captain mentioned, was priority. From then onward, though the Captain muttered about the importance of safety and precautions, he sailed us straight into Grayson. From this point forward, it was a complete and utter disaster on the ship. Most elevators were shut off to conserve power, leaving a large population of elderly and families to brave the 15 floors of stairs, or to shove into a single elevator. Being young and thankfully able-bodied, this did not impact me, but I witnessed the struggle of other fellow passengers. Elderly had to be held upright, taking breaks on each stairwell and cling to the rails of the ship. We witnessed passengers constantly vomiting, or diving into bathrooms to vomit. Each stairwell had on it a set of complementary vomit bags. This happened for two days straight, however, on the “up” side we were given $23 a person for essentially missing one of the three main trip locations (on a side note, the 14- day cruise following ours received an apology for their inconvenience AND a refund of one day for their itinerary, but we have received not word nor compensation though we essentially lost the vast majority of our cruise to the Captain’s poor choice to brave Grayson). Any and all belongings on the mirror and cabinets were thrown across the floor, and many passengers and their children were forced to sleep on the Atrium floor (next to a late-night bar) due to two inches of water, there appeared to be no vacant rooms for emergency situations. This was a complete and unnecessary disaster that was endured at the expense of Norwegian Breakaway’s passengers for the sake of staying on schedule and ensuring profit. The most unnerving situation was not the storm itself, but the intent of upper management in their behavior to keep passengers as ignorant and confused as possible. This was best displayed by the final night of the cruise (the 4th of January) when the Captain announced at approximately 6pm that we would be disembarking and arriving to NY port at 4pm instead of 8am. Due to the mass amounts of passengers that fly/have travel plans (as most do), this caused a urgent rush and need to use the phone services and internet. We hurried to the Guest Services desk, only to be directed to stay where we are, that there was a phone at the front desk that I assume all of the guests were expected to use. As we waited, another crew member directed myself and others to a small computer lab of about five computers, said we were free to use them and that there is no phone available, and essentially shrugged her shoulders and left the situation. I once again asked for access to the phones, but we were shrugged off once again. Masses of people were now panicking and urging crew members for assistance. Instead of waiting for the promise of a phone (which appeared nonexistent) we trekked back to our stateroom and instead used our stateroom phone. Due to the panic I witnessed from those with complex travel arrangements, I could see that once again, my situation was not as dire due to that I had no flight arrangements, and I did not want to take any time from those that could be assisted and use the phone/ computer services. Immediately after calling my concerned mother as well as arranging new travel arrangements, I had accumulated approximately $24 in phone calls, being that the charge for utilizing your stateroom phone is $4.99 a minute. Once the crowd cleared and things settled down, I approached Guest Services once again. I spoke to a Service Manager who appeared irritated from the start, and I asked if there was a difference in expenses to the ship itself whether I utilized my stateroom phone or the phone they had offered. She stated that it did not cost the ship any additional cost that I used my stateroom phone. I explained that I did not want to get in the way of those who truly needed the phone for true emergency purposes, but I asked if I could be given a credit for the amount charged for the phone call. She responded that no, I would not be. Then said if I had any suggestions to manage/service 5,000 people, to give them to the office. To this snarky comment, I said that I did not appreciate that the crew was informed to keep guests ignorant to the change in disembarkation from 8am to 4pm (a fact which I had found out from another crew member, who stated they were threatened that they had to keep this confidential or face disciplinary action) she immediately was taken aback, and gave me the full refund for the phone call, along with an apology for the inconvenience. I am wholeheartedly disappointed with my experience with the Norwegian Breakaway and its management, and I am requesting a refund for my party. The focus of other cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean in avoiding the storm in a similar situation, proves the priorities of Norwegian Cruise Lines to not be safety of passengers, but revenue at the expense of what could have been its passengers/crew’s lives and dignity. went with a group or friends from work. It was my first cruise and an amazing time. I was blown away with the service and all the activities that were offered. Getting on and off the ship went so smooth, there were people everywhere to point the way to assist if needed. We did do the off site cruise parking and i would highly recommend that. My cabin was way bigger than i expected. Wow and the amount of food was amazing. who knew you could ever order two entrees if thats what you wanted . There was never an hour that you could not go do something. The shows were amazing. We got off the ship in the Bahamas that was a little overwhelming, because you are inundated with the locals trying to sell you stuff or go for a taxi ride, but if you said no they did not keep on. Would defiantly go again. Great product for my money Read Less

This was my first cruise so I had nothing to compare it to except what others had told me. Communication aboard ship was lacking for a first time cruiser. If there was an orientation we didn't see it advertised. More info as to where things were and "you are here" signs would help. Explaining how the travel mugs provided with the drink package worked would also have been helpful. The ship was nice, clean and comfortable despite its age. The cabin was clean and functional. We had issues with excursions we booked being canceled and rebooked with little to no notice. The excursion guy was rude and uncaring when we tried to address the issue with him. Lots of time wasted getting off the ship in Nassau to go to Atlantis. Why should we have to wait for people that get up late or for another cruise ship's passengers. We could have taken a cab had we been told. We had the MyTime dining option and didn't know we needed to book the time before we left port or would have to wait for a table. The food was so-so; we felt rushed in the dining room two nights. The food was often cold, especially breakfast (cold eggs Benedict - yuck). Espresso was terrible - just plain coffee in a tiny cup, tepid at best. I wanted a Scotch and water but kept getting a Scotch and ginger ale, even after explaining what I wanted. The Windjammer Buffet was decent as well as the Chefs Table (at $85 a person). Staff was very nice (except the guy mentioned above) and helpful when asked. Entertainment was decent; no one major. The comedian was good but very short show, like 10 minutes. It was nice not to have people hawking you all the time to buy things, but the ship is oriented around selling things - art, watches, jewelry, etc. The casino was nice but the smoking was terrible. I would have enjoyed a day at sea at the start to get oriented with onboard stuff like the day-at-sea at the end. I'll have to look for that next time. Read Less

The foods are very tasty and fabulous so thank you for the chefs on board. We even ordered more than 1 burp. The Dining hall manager made our dinning experience spectacular. My mom who missed the food from my home country made a special request for my brother's birthday and he made it possible. The ship is really good, lots of fun activities and its very clean. My overall experience is five star, very nice experience. There was an auction painting with lots of raffles drawing. There was a comedy show and dancing show. I hope they provided a real Broadway show. I'm pretty sure it will be jam packed by the cruisers. The unlimited food was good. I really Love it as my first time. Read Less

Tanya and Susan were fantastic and such high energy. The dining room with our servers at table 424 could not have been better. They are so friendly and by the second night they new what we wanted without asking. We loved Kings Wharf and Cococay but were not as impressed with Nassas. I felt very unsafe there. It was dirty and had we known about the Atlantis tour we would have taken it. We will go on this ship for sure again and I hope to have another great time. The people who work for you could not have been more friendly and also so kind. We enjoyed it more than we could express. Im glad that we took Royal Caribbean as our first cruise. Read Less

...no lie, we both caught the cruise bug! This was our first cruise and we're hooked! The whole adventure was memorable and we can't help but tell everyone how extraordinary the experience was. The embarkation process went smoothly especially considering there were 4,000 guests to board. The excited anticipation of the cruisers and the well-executed organization of the MSC staff made for a pleasant and seamless boarding. Entering the ship we were welcomed by the stunning crystal staircase and lovely live piano music. Before searching out our cabin, we wandered around just a bit to get a feel for what we were in for. We were not disappointed. The Davina was clean, maps were abundant, and even with thousands of guests, we were able to move about comfortably and with minimal wait time. The cabin was roomy and spotless and throughout the cruise the wonderfully efficient crew kept it clean, stocked, and orderly. We called them our elves and we joked about how they seemed to know when we were out so they could slip in and clean up multiple times a day. Having a balcony room was a plus as we loved relaxing out there at all hours of day or night. The 24-hour buffet of food... oh my! What a treat. We enjoyed the everyday foods like pizza, hamburgers and salads, but also looked forward to the daily specials where we found interesting items like eggplant lasagna and lemon chicken and a variety of fish plates. We love salad and fruit and found the melons especially to be wonderfully ripe and tasty. And who could deny the many desserts?! We could never choose just one. We especially liked the international crew. These people are hard working, friendly, helpful and pleasant. There wasn't a lazy person seen. What a joy they were to be around! Being our first cruise, we didn't take in any excursions, although we were immediately approached in Nassau and agreed to take a tour. The driver had a lot of great information and stories. We would have never seen nor learned as much on our own. The stop at Half Moon Cay was beautiful and at 57 years old I finally learned how to float! Looks like we'll need to schedule another cruise so I can learn to swim. (Our only disappointment was the internet. My husband was in the midst of online classes for his masters and the connection was incredibly slow making it a bit stressful getting assignments turned in on time.) Read Less

My friend and I thought this would be a good cruise to enjoy for our first time. They were rude, didn't resolve ANY issues while on board. Our plugs in did not work, we had no AC. Made arrangements before setting sail to have dinner time at the same time each night and they let someone else have our seat. They then made us wait till they sat others and finally pulled up a TWO person table for my friend and I by the dirty dishes and server station. Their staff was friendly in different areas but for the majority they were rude and we did not like them. Our room attendant didn't help us with anything but to come clean in which she walked in two different times while we were still in getting ready. The one time we finally called and asked for ice they brought it to us about a hour later. Will not be cruising Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Cruise director Bobby, Activities director Moe and Brandon interacted so well with the audience. (They were a Hoot!!!) Each evening when we returned to our cabin the towel animals brought a smile to our faces. Thanks to our room attendant. The food in the Windjammer was remarkable. Great variety and beautifully presented. We were assigned table 123 in the main dining and I'm so glad we were. Efren and Octa made a lasting impression on us. Their smiling faces and attention to details just blew us away. Thanks Royal Carribean. We will see you on our next cruise!!!!! Read Less

This was our very first cruise and there was 15 of us. When we first got onboard the first thing we noticed was the food stations were overflowing with choices: steak, chicken, pasta chinese, bbq. Amazing! Well, that was the last time we saw any of that. Most nights, there was only 1 line open and it offered maybe 2 main dishes which were awful such as Ham or a Chicken dish with all the sides and salad bar. We have always heard of the excellent and abundant food buffets on cruises, but it was't on this ship! The main dining room was much better, but it was the back of the boat and some of our guests felt the ocean moving too much and couldn't eat in there. I also think Carnival needs to decide if they want to be a family ship or a party ship, but you can't have it both ways. One day, around noonish, there was a alcohol inspired game show and the contestants got super crazy, and I'm no prude, but they did this on the side of the ship where water slide pool was located with a ton of kids, including mine. Not appropriate! I also paid into the Bubbles package and it was a huge mistake. There are no soda stations in food buffet areas, so if my kids wanted a soda with their meals or even while sitting around the pool, they had to go to the bar and wait until the server was finished making 20 frozen drinks, all while enjoying the company of the heavy drinkers and fowl language. Also, one morning as I was walking around with my young son on the top deck, I fell harshly down 2 steps. The floor is wood, it had a "slime" residue and I was trying to be very careful. After I fell, there were 2 crewmen close by and they acted as if they could care less. Fortunately there was a nice family who ran over to help. I couldn't believe the crewmen did nothing. As they walked by, they did ask if i was ok, but didn't offer a arm to help me up! I was sore but refused to go to infirmary. I woke up next morning, bruised over the whole right side of my body. Pain was awful, but i was with my family of 15 people and didn't want it to ruin my trip. I iced up as much as I could, and got on with my trip. The rooms were nice, the other food options were good so overall I guess the value was there, but before I would even consider recommending Carnival to anyone, they have some growing up to do! We chose this cruise because of the timing. We needed to leave and be back In time for our first grandchild to be born. Nassau was a little disappointing. Very touristy. We loved Cococay. The beach was beautiful, the mini straw market was not near as pushy as Nassau. The service overall was excellent with the exception of most of the bartenders in the Boleros room. They would ignore you for 30 minutes easily. We would choose a larger ship next time. Majesty had only one pool that was too crowded to get in most of the time. The food in the dining room was excellent and Galen was an outstanding waiter. The windjammer was ok, Sorrentos pizza was barely average. The activities director is pretty funny and the activities were very entertaining. They could really scale back on the pushy sales once you're on board, that got pretty annoying and you need to learn to dodge them. Read Less

We picked Disney Cruise mainly because of the focus on younger kids. Based on all the reviews I've read this is supposed to be the best cruise for kids (with no casino and has many kids focused activities such as the Oceaneer Club and Lab.) This is our first cruise ever so I cannot compare it with other cruises. My original expectation was that the kids would spend most of the time in the youth clubs doing interesting activates while the adults can relax and do some exercises to work off the calories. I also expected to go swimming as a family at least once per day so we could . However, the experience was not exactly what I expected. We were on the Very Merrytime Cruise during the week of Thanksgiving. As expected it is extremely crowded. It took quite a while for the lug gages to show up, otherwise the embarkation and disembarkation went just fine. The ship is in a great condition and the room is exceptionally clean. I travel a lot for work and the cleanliness is definitely on par with the best hotels I've stayed. Also the stateroom host did above and beyond to entertain my kids. The room and his service were the best part of the trip . The 3 stage shows were good but definitely not on par with those at Disneyland and Disney World, none of them was memorable and the plots were all very uninteresting or simplistic despite good individual performance. The kids (6 and 9) also enjoyed the new movie "Moana". The swimming pools were really small for the number of people onboard. It was simply impossible to "swim" much with so many people in the pools. My kids were only able to swim on the second day because we chose not to visit Nassau and on the third day at Castaway Cay. The kids clubs were totally not what we expected. We registered the kids on the first day and my wife immediately had concerns regarding the electronic toys and video games. After a couple hours, the activities there simply could not keep the kids interested. In addition, I didn't like that the kids were fed mostly unhealthy, deep fried foods for dinner! Actually, the reason we had the kids there for dinner was due to the terrible "second seating" we were assigned to. On the first day, we were very tired and the kids were starving while suffering from motion sickness. But we could not go to dinner because people in "second seating" can only go in after 8:15PM, in addition Disney shut down the buffet restaurant "Cabanas" during dinner times except for the party night. (I read other reviews it was sometimes available for sit in dinners as an alternative to formal dining, it would have been nice!) We ate at the "royal" garden on the first night at a very narrow place and Disney assigned another family to sit at the same table. It was a very awkward situation so they reseated them for the remainder of the trip. Even so, the location was not ideal and possibly due to that the waiters rarely come back other than delivering foods. We asked to be switched to the "first seating" but was immediately shut down with an excuse that "first seating is overbooked". So every night we ate late, went to sleep late, but still have to wake up very early to "meet the princess" or attend other activities. It was a very exhausting and painful experience and nothing like the "relaxing cruise" I was expecting. Despite all the bad experiences, Disney asked us to pay an extra $240 of tips on top of the almost 7k we already paid for the rooms. That is divided by $40 for dinner each night and $20 for housekeeping. I'd say my stateroom host absolutely deserves his $20. But the dinner service while good was just on par with other high-end restaurant. And the dinner experience has been consistently horrible despite friendly table services. The environment was always very closed, crowded, and uninteresting. The late dinners made the kids starve and then eat too much. I too suffer from digestion problems every single night. This totally ruined the experience. Castaway Cay was the only better part of the trip. It was extremely clean and the sand was very nice. My kids were able to swim in the sea and we all biked together as a family. Still, the open areas on the island are too small for any serious exploration, and a very beautiful beach was a designated "adult only" area. So I really felt a bit underwhelming. I also feel that Disney might be trying to save money by cutting corners: Offer cheaper, unhealthy kids menus items that cost maybe $10 per meal, shut down Cabanas at nights to save costs, charge extra fees for almost any drink other than fountain drinks, including bottled water. On the show last night the entertainment director said that we may miss the ship, but sorry, I don't miss it at all and I am more than happy to get off the ship and never come back ever again. I think for the same money we would have a far better experience by simply staying a week in a Disney World resort hotel. Read Less

This was my husband and I first time cruising. We had heard so many great things about cruising, so we decided to give it a try. .....Oh my!!...where to start... First...this is an old ship...carpets are stained...linen in the rooms were a dingy yellow. The towels always looked liked they had not been washed well. (yellow stains, red marks, old makeup looking marks on towels and washcloths..and this was even after asking for new ones) Second...our room attendant never knew what he was talking about when asked a questions...for example...i asked him if there was a way to print out our excursion tickets, since we had forgot to do so before leaving home and he said "no"...wrong!! they have computers set up with printers! Third...we could not port at CocoCay and was not offered any cruise deals or ship credits or anything...I'm convinced Coco Cay is messed up from Hurricane Matthew! Fourth...The waters were very rough on the 3rd and 4th night...as I am accustomed to flying..the pilot will come on the intercom and let everyone know we are experiencing turbulence"...well not on the ship!!..I didn't know if this was normal or if something was wrong...I was waiting for the captain to come over the loud speaker at any moment and let us know that we were experiencing rough waters or something!! Nothing!! For a first timer this was very unnerving! Fifth- we paid for the internet service that promised to be fast....welllllllll....fail....we were told it's slow in the rooms but fast if you come out to the common areas! -: I could go on...like the very smoky casino! But I've said enough and had enough to know we won't be doing another cruise anytime soon if at all....it is what we thought it was!! Read Less

As a first time cruiser I couldn't have been more impressed. The ship it self isn't very large, but it was perfect for the few days at sea. Since this was our first cruise, we decided on an interior stateroom. For an older ship, i didn't mind the size of the room. I was also not expecting anything outrageous, either. Our Steward was very friendly and attentive. He always made sure to greet us upon every meeting, and made us feel very welcomed aboard this ship. Dining was much more than we expected. Many friends told us to not expect the best tasting food, but man oh man was it good! The pretzel rolls were a must each time I walked by the buffet! haha! We were also lucky enough to have a Chef that was experienced with many different styles of cuisines, and were able to try all types. We didn't try any of the independent restaurants that you had to pay for, but we didn't need to. We were so pleased with the dining offerings, besides the buffet, which also had delicious food and amazing staff. Every day there was something going on, on the ship. We never once got bored or ever found nothing to do. We were going non stop. We sailed right after a hurricane, so our itinerary changed slightly before we departed. Instead of Freeport, we were lucky to get to Key West. My first time in Key West and I Loved it. We didn't do any excursions, just walked around and explored. It was an absolute delight. Nassau was our second stop of the week. This port was an experience. We again didn't schedule any excursions, and just wanted to see Nassau ourselves. At first we were bombarded by locals trying to get us in vans and on scooters. Once we finally got away from all that craziness, we walked over to Junkanoo beach. Junkanoo beach was not impressive. Maybe it was because of the hurricane that recently went through the area, but I don't plan to visit again. I was actually nervous walking in Nassau from the Port to the beach and up around the Parliament building, but am glad that we did it. This port day, we were back on the ship by noon, but we were more than happy too. With everyone out and about in Nassau, we were finally able to enjoy the hot tubs and relax. This was our favorite part of the trip! Lastly disembarkation was a breeze. Although our flight was later in the day, we decided to do the walk off with your own luggage, and it was such a quick process. We even took the first shuttle to the airport. Even though we didn't enjoy Nassau as much as others, we enjoyed the ship and Key West very much. I can't not wait for our next NCL cruise, and in the future I will definitely take the Sky again. By the way... it was all-inclusive too! great to not have to worry about paying for your drinks while on board! Read Less

We won a "free" cruise trip through a raffle and booked our first cruise with Carnival Fantasy to the Bahamas. Our trip set sail Friday and returned monday. Overall we had a good experience as first time cruisers. No sea sickness, great hospitality service of the staff of Carnival, plenty of activities to do. Only downfall was the comfort of the beds (but that's understandable since we are on a ship) and some of the patrons were young and rowdy. If Carnival has another trip/line that caters to an older crowd, it'd be a perfect 5/5. Overall though very pleased with our first cruise. Food was good and plenty of selection. The cabins were clean and more space than expected. Bahamas was wonderful and it was great that our trip included staying at the port over night so no worries about rushing back to the boat. I would definitely recommend. Read Less

Food was mediocre. I had a prawn/shrimp dish, and none of the prawns had been cleaned properly. black tubes right up the middle. Organised tour of the island, showed us oil refinery, run down businesses, an airport with planes surprise surprise. A cement factory. The police station. Not the kind of tour that would impress anyone. Then for a lunch at a five star hotel. Burgers, hot dogs, some fancy cakes, cold tea, juice. The only highlight for me, was the beach at the hotel. lovely clean beach and really warm water. I will never cruise with this company again, everything you bought had 18.5% service charge added to it, and they still looked for a tip. 12$ per day was added to everyone in the party for room service so for the 4 of us we paid an extra 96$. The entertainment was limited. Nothing started for the adults until 9. The comedy club was not open for 2 nights in a row, so they were really crowded.....The piano bar is not worth even trying. It was the same style music throughout the entire time. The piano players name is Skip and that is totally what I would do. He was really rude both nights I went. Many other passengers were talking about how rude he was though out the week.....The food was NOT good in Rosies café... The pizza was awful...Guys burger place was good, the fries were over done but the burgers where great. The burrito place was good.. Had it not been for those two I would have not eaten anything but bad food the entire time. I kept going back to the buffets hoping for anything worth while. It never happened. Blah is the best way to describe their food. The staff was awesome except for Skip. But overall I really liked their staff. They were friendly, helpful, funny, and a pleasure to be around. Milos was hands down the best bartender we came across. The cucumber sunrise was this trips saving grace. Read Less

I was a 1st time cruiser and the Carnival Victory did not disappoint!! Embarkation was very organized and went very smooth. The ship was beautiful and clean when we finally got on board. The staff ushered us to pool decks and had lunch ready. Our luggage arrived within 2 hours of us boarding, so I was very pleased with that. Our cabin was upper interior (Deck 6) was tiny, but provided anything we could need from a cabin. Everyone traveling with us had very clean and functional rooms each day. The food was perfect for every snack and meal we had. We ate a ton, but stayed so active that I had no problem eating what ever I wanted. There were more activities than I could even attend, although I tried! The live bands and Comedy Club we my favorites. The hospitality was amazing, my drink was never empty and I was constantly smiling. Overall security was also impressive. My 15 year old spent the last two days with new friends that she met in Club 02. The club Manager was very involved with making sure the teens had a blast each day, all while not letting in strange adults. She made it a point to meet and know just about every parent who's teen went there. The ports were great, Freeport was less crowded than Nassau. We went to Tianio Beach in Freeport and did shopping in Nassau. The beach was a 12 mile drive across the Island but again, we had wonderful, local hospitality by our bus/cab driver. Traveling in a group of 10 with one in a Wheelchair and they made it happen so smoothly! My daughter made memories that will last forever. We will definitely cruise Carnival again and again! Everything else like the music, sail off parties, Dive in movie, and ALL of the wonderful staff was just as enjoyable. Can't wait to cruise again! Read Less

This was my first cruise and my boyfriend's second. I think this is great for first timers or short cruise seekers. If you are used to high end luxurious cruises then this may not suit you. If you can make a good time out of anything like me, then you will enjoy yourself. So here we go... Embarkment: They only offer valet which costs about $36 for the 2 days, cash only. Check-in was smooth and boarding was even smoother. We got there a little after 12 and by the time we checked in at the desk we were able to walk right on the boat. They have a green screen just before going on so you can take a nice shot where they put the ship/water behind you. You have the option to check your bags in so they are taken to your room for you, but they only check in roll-on bags. Rooms aren't ready till 2pm so we had to carry duffel bags around till then. Room: M37, Desk 5. Room is nice and clean. Only 1 outlet that I was able to find. You can bring a power strip. My only complaint about the room was is was pretty hot. We asked for a fan the second night which really helped. Memories Photo Gallery: A few hours after you board they will have all of your embarkment photos I mentioned before displayed on the wall where you can choose to purchase them. They had a special that included 2 photos, a key chain, and a magnet for about $20. They also offered professional/romantic pictures that evening between 6-10pm. You don't have to pay if you don't want the pictures. We did the romantic pictures with the black background and the one in front of the green screen. The photographers are great, they do a TON of poses for you. They were ready a couple hours later and they came out SO GOOD! It ended up being like $45 for the 3 we bought plus a couple key chains. Highly recommend. Food & Drinks: They have the buffet, a sit down restaurant included in the price with a reservation, and another fancier sit down restaurant that's an extra $30 a person. We chose not to do either of the sit down places because we didn't want to subject ourselves to a time. The buffet was good. They had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As well as a late night pizza buffet and a late night taco and nacho buffet. They also have burger and hot dogs in the afternoon by the pool. The 2nd day while we are at Freeport they have a smokehouse BBQ around 2:30pm that was good. Water, lemonade, tea, and coffee are free. They offer a $21 package for unlimited soda. They offer 10 drink tickets for $65. This is a good deal if you aren't drinking beer. Beer is about $6 a bottle so you would end up losing money if that's all you're drinking. Any bar purchase they add 15% service charge, including the drink tickets. Entertainment: We decided not to go to the shows so I can't comment there. They have karaoke each night at 10pm by the pool. We love karaoke so we had a blast here. We went to the Voltage night club the first night around 12-1am. There weren't many people there and the DJ was terrible, but like I said before we make a good time out of anything so I danced my night away and had a great time. The pools are salt water so I couldn't stand to be in them too long without my skin feeling dry. They have some other activities through-out the day. Freeport: We didn't purchase excursions because the weather wasn't going to be nice. Right at the port, about a 15 minute walk there are a few shops and a Senor Frogs restaurant. So I would suggest that if you aren't doing excursions. From what I hear the shopping district isn't worth going to. Disembarkment: 2.5 hours without passports! Be prepared to wait. Spent about $400 while on the ship (2 people). Read Less

This is why and where I will spend my vacation from this point. The wait staff was really good they where always there, I never waited for anything. First time in my life my coffee cup was never empty. The ships crew and captain where also superb. All in all It was a new view of life that I could have missed and now that I have had this time with such beautiful, wonderful, kind people, well, how do you not go back again and again. We just got back from our cruise on the Elation. There was some good and bad on this cruise. I'll give you the good first: The Good: 1. The cruise director was excellent. He tried his best to provide a variety of entertainment options - he was thrown a loop when the port was canceled and he had to quickly come up with options. Only complaint on entertainment... way too many trivia games-it got a little boring. 2. The music and comedy were good. I loved hanging out at Dukes Piano Bar with Gilbert - he was very talented. 3. The food was pretty decent. It is institutional food but it was decent. The food staff was pretty courteous. The only complaint on food was the "fancy" restaurant. The wait staff didn't provide very good service. We were only offered water to drink during the meal. The staff only showed up to take the order and bring it to us. 4. The stateroom was actually bigger than I thought it would be. We were on the lowest deck and had an inside stateroom. Our steward was very attentive and cleaned the room twice everyday. He took the time to learn my name, it meant something to me. The Bad: 1. The missed port: The captain announced the canceled port one hour before we were to go. I am a school teacher and I don't earn a lot of money to go cruising. I especially wanted this cruise trip to go to Half Moon Cay because I wanted a quiet day at the beach. I agree with the rowensonthego review about the canceled port. I felt that I missed half the cruise by missing this port. I kind of feel ripped off. I know that I don't have any recourse and that stinks! 2. The drunk passengers: When we were on board, there were some young women who were seriously getting wasted. When the night was young, it wasn't too bad. But as the night progressed, their behavior got worse and worse. I am a parent, and I was worried about them. They could have been taken advantage of or worse, assaulted. The bartenders need to take a page from land bartenders and cut off the booze to excessively drunk people. I blame the "Cheers" program. In order to get your money's worth, you have to drink several drinks during the day. You get the best deal by drinking more. 3. The "Bubbles" program: This program gives you unlimited soda during the cruise. Nice idea - but you can only get the soda from the bars and restaurants. The bartenders acted like they didn't want to serve you. They preferred to serve the customers who were buying alcoholic beverages because the extra tips they would receive. By the way, I'm not going to tip someone for pouring me a soda out of a can!!! Another issue with the bubbles program: Carnival claims to be environmentally friendly, but they pour ALL of their soda from cans. When I said something about it, they said that they recycle, but that doesn't make sense. They could save an incredible amount of money if they used soda fountains instead of cans. 4. The constant sales pitches: I understand that they have to sell stuff to make money for the cruise line, but it felt like they were selling stuff at at least half the activities. It got excessive. I already paid thousands of dollars to ride on the ship, stop selling all that expensive jewelry, perfume and spa services! Read Less

This was our first cruise and were told Royal Caribbean was the best to choose. We went on a 4 night cruise to Nassau, Coco Cay, and Key West leaving from Miami. We chose this cruise because of the price and short to try cruising. The boat is showing its age chairs in the lounge were uncomfortable and the boat showed signs of rust. We went on 2 excursions we booked before the cruise. Day 1 we were docked in Nassau and went snorkeling which was nice then we walked around the straw market and every merchant was trying to get you to come to their booth. We enjoyed the snorkeling and once we got off the boat they were their waiting to take us on the tour. We did not stay off the boat long after snorkeling. We were in port until midnight which which we had left sooner. The cruise staff was great and the cruise directer Elvis was hilarious. Everything he hosted was great. We did not go to any of the shows we heard they were not that great. The Love and Marriage game show and the Quest game show are must attend. Day 2 was our favorite day in Coco Cay. It is Royal private island so lunch is provided and any beverage package have is valid on the island as well. There was plenty of places to relax and the water was beautiful. We swam with the stingrays and that was a lot of fun we got in the enclosure with them and could pet them and got to feed them as well as hold them. The food on the boat was ok. We enjoyed the Windjammer Cafe for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was our favorite, there was an omelet bar, bacon, waffles, pancakes, eggs, fruit, cereals. Lunch had a wide variety of food as well. We ate at the Dinning Room My Fair Lady 2 nights. Food was presented well and did not leave hungry but was not as good as would have expected. We ate at the buffet the last 2 nights. 1 night had mexican night had tacos and nachos then had sushi and a Mongolian noodle station, the next night had Greek team but still had sushi. The also had an ice cream cart going around with vanilla and orange sherbet. They have topping as well for the ice cream. Our room was small but comfortable. There was not much storage for cloths and suitcases but made it work. Our biggest issue was the shower curtain. It was the thin plastic curtain. Once it was wet it would cling to you and you would have to push it off of you to shower. We will be going on a cruise again but will not be going on this boat again as it is old and needs to be updated. Read Less

My parents surprised my sister and I about this cruise. We thought we were just going to the beach for a couple of days before heading to Disneyworld. The port was right next to the beach we were so-called "going to". They took us down by the cruise and told us we were going on it for the next few days! We were stoked!! The Disney Dream is definitely worth the money it costs, along with any other Disney vacation, destination, etc. However, Disney Dream is apparently the best of the best. It was voted the best of even all the Disney cruise ships! On the Disney Dream, you will never find yourself bored. Whether you are lounging by the pool watching a Disney movie on the giant screen, eating your fourteenth ice cream cone of the day (because hey, it's unlimited!!), or trying something new in the many activities Disney has available for children or adults, you will always be entertained. The rooms: Never being on a cruise before, I did not know what to expect. However, I knew that the rooms would be tiny. But upon getting into our room that was for four of us, I wasn't disappointed. Although small, because hey you're on a ship with 4000 other people, it wasn't crammed at all. We were even lucky enough to have a small deck that we could go out on and see the ocean. The rooms had a desk, a bed, a couch that converted into bunk beds every night (thank you housekeepers!!), closet space, a tv, a shower room with a sink, and a toilet with a sink. It was enough because no one spent much time in the rooms since there was so much to do. The food: Disney Dream had quite a few different restaurant options but generally had three different dinners that they would rotate the guests through along with two that you could pay extra for but you would need to make reservations. The best dinner setting was definitely at the Animator's Palette. It was totally Disney-fied. Check that place out and take pictures because it's so unique! But besides that, the food was great, nothing to complain about. They made sure they had a variety each day so you weren't stuck eating the same thing four or five days in a row. Although Disney is pointed more towards kids, they had a lot of fancy options for food which made it interesting. The activities: When you get on the cruise, make sure you download the Disney Cruise app. It gets you hooked up with the temporarily free wifi but it has an hour by hour list each day of the activities. Take advantage of all the cool things they have going on around the cruise, you won't want to miss out on it. Especially the shows and events they have constantly. Do not convince yourself that you are too old to do different things because you are not. Enjoy the cruise while you're on it!! The shows: The shows were phenomenal, as all Disney shows are. What was so interesting is that they would take the same Disney characters you've always known, and put them with a different story line. It made it entertaining and the audience were always encouraged to cheer once they saw their favorite characters take the stage. The staff: I cannot stress this enough. The staff were unlike any staff I've ever seen. They were always happy, always smiling, always helpful. You were never afraid to approach a staff member for any questions or anything you might want to say. They love to engage with you and ensure that your time is worthwhile. Now the entertainment staff was unbelievable. They're the ones who put on the shows, played the characters for meet and greets, and were constantly in front of the people. They definitely do their job well. Bravo! Disney Dream was unlike any other cruise I will probably ever go on and just want to encourage anybody thinking about taking this cruise, DO IT!!! Every penny is worth it. My sister and I are 21 and 17 and we had just as much fun as a 5 year old would have. But also seeing all the childrens' faces light up on this cruise made me happier, and I know it will fill any parent with joy seeing the look on their own child's face on this cruise. I 100% love this cruise and will continue to applaud it and talk about it to anyone who will listen. Thank you Disney Dream for making all of my dreams come true! Read Less

Although we had nothing to compare it to, this was a wonderful vacation. We loved the cruise we had a great time, this was truly a vacation. We had a hiccup with the communication on Half Moon Cay day with the tenders, but it really wasn't a worry. We are in paradise, what could be better. I had 1 more hiccup at the pool bar. They made a drink with no alcohol, and wouldn't remake it. They think they did... but oh well... It's still all good. The drinks are way too sweet anyway. I would go on the Elation again tomorrow. Half Moon Cay was amazing. I could have passed on Nassau and docked at Half Moon Cay for the duration of the cruise. Read Less
