So cheap cruising has become like a trip to Benidorm on P&O
The ship is dated. Understaffed and lacking the glitz and glamour we have experienced on other ships. Our toilet flooded on the first night and we had flushing issues for 2 weeks so did our neighbouring rooms
The Buffet closed too early, some days we missed lunch due to trip return times . Buffet often closed 2.30

This was our first cruise at Christmas and first voyage on P&O. We decided on Azura around the Canary Islands as the dates worked perfectly for us.
The ship is very dated for its age and in need of some TLC in the public areas and a good deep clean. It was 50/50 if the toilets would be clean when you used them, bins overflowing floors wet!!! First time I’ve been on a cruise and seen toilets ...
We chose this cruise for a week in the sun before Christmas. We are loyal RCCL cruisers and knew this would be very different but the dates, itinerary and mega cheap price drew us in.
In viewing the YouTube video of this ship before we booked we knew it wouldn’t be what we were used to.
Flight and transportation and checking in were all good…luckily we were on the flight that wasn’t delayed… ...
We were on a 2 week cruise on Azura from 9th December to 23rd December.
Flight for Gatwick with Jet2 was ok only 45 mins late but could have done without the 1hr transfer from Tenerife south airport to the ship in Santa Cruz. Check in was easy and we were in our room about 30 mins after getting off the coach. Inside cabin was ok at the back of the ship on Deck11.
We were on the ship in ...
Not what I expected, the two dress-up nights were very very underwhelming, nothing much on, and the food was just very disappointing. Breakfast one morning the sausage was definitely off yuk!! In general, the meals were rather a letdown, some tables were rather small for 4 people and all the plates, etc.
Very little entertainment during the day unless you enjoy dancing which is on in the ...
Was weary of going with P & O and I was right, firstly the awful smell of sewage on deck 7 all through one of the cabaret bars, not an officer in sight all the first week. Secondly the petty rules associated with the drinks package, you were allowed 15 drinks a day, but no doubles. At the bar I asked for 2 single gins ( using 2 of my 15 allowance ), but no, I could only have 1 and had to wait 15 ...
We chose this cruise (Barbados to Malta) because it seemed like the cruise of a lifetime & ship pictures were lovely.
We understandably had a PCR test and an airport antigen test before leaving the UK (Gatwick) to create a 'Covid bubble' i.e. only allowed to travel if results negative. This made us feel safe.
We got onboard on the evening of 18th March and the ship seemed to live up to ...
Choose this cruise in 2020 as liked the itinerary and the idea of crossing Atlantic. Unknown to the joining 500 in Barbados on 18 & 19 March the ship already had Civif amongst guests who had finished Caribbean sector, the Crew especially waiting staff etc and booked Entertainment. Getting to ship however was like the Crystal Maze. Totally understand P&O wanting to create a safety bubble of guests ...
For this review, I have compiled the facts and written them in an easy, logical way to read, however, as will become clear, the information from the Captain was given after the acute crisis event, during a Q & A session, with a proportion of the affected passengers. This is a factual description of our experiences.
Facts:
1. The Captain had warned P&O 3 years ago not to include Monaco in any ...
Opportunity for sun after winter, family relaxation however it is the first time we have had such a poor experience with P&O. Hygiene was appallingly maintained for first week hence a significant norovirus outbreak. Passengers were allowed to regularly slip into buffet areas without any sanitising. Norovirus protocol resulted in staff serving you the buffet. Food was dumped on plates in ‘piles’ ...
