outward flight was ok but being x thomson crew i think they are better. we could only afford an inside cabin as xmas/new year v expensive. cabin ok, small, shower area was more like a caravan shower. 1st night was xmas eve, my birthday, even though we told the waiters, nothing happened, disappointed. next night we sat at two seats of our own choice next to a lovely couple, ordered drinks, pulled crackers .. ordered starter then a waiter came over and said we could not sit there as we had been allocated somewhere else, we were escorted out in full dinner dress ..embarrassed. then escorted back in 2 mins later to be sat at a table for 2 (had asked for 8) next to the waiters entrance. we didnt get our drinks , they never arrived. this was xmas day! i could not eat my dinner, just wanted to get out. we had never received confirmation of where we were sitting. i complained and we were eventually given a table of 8 but on early sitting, (we had asked for late, booked 18 months ahead!!) food was disappointing, expected better, tried two supplement rest .. indian ok, restaurant 17, good. buffet rest fine.. but xmas very very busy, could not get sunbeds during the day, on morning took us 2.5 hrs!. could not book into spa, never seen it whole trip!.. pool area v busy, noisy, rear pool lovely but impossible to get a bed, sick of people putting towels on, no action by staff. entertainment by headliners was vv good. booked entertainers were ok, but problem in the lounges due to noisy people talking , complained but again no action by staff. (this would not have happened in a northern social club!) trips were expensive, we went on lots they were ok, but next time prob do our own thing and save money. did have lots of photos taken as we did not think we would get back, but personal choice. p@0 members club bit of a rip off, 10 pts for every night on board but u have to have 150 to be a member. so even paying for the xmas/new year cruise (most expensive) at two weeks u do not qualify. drinks prices i thought were ok, and good that u could buy duty free and drink in cabin. holiday was spoilt because they put us on early sitting for dinner 6.30 was far too early, especially if u have been on a trip and were back at 5-5.30. the serving was too rushed, they were giving us our cheese and biscuits at the same time as our dessert! we always were the last to leave on principle!! i finally got to sit in the jucassi on the last am, one lady saying she was upgraded to late sitting after complaining bitterly that she booked 6 months before! .. after telling her i had booked 18 months prev and still was put on early she shut up, but that was just the icing on the cake for me . dont go at xmas, too expensive, too busy, flight back with thomas cook through the night was awful. why p@o use them ? they must be the cheapest. talk about cattle class! the seat was broke in front of us, so could not put anything on one table, crew would not move us, i hated it! my partner wants to go on another cruise to the caribbean, but will make sure i have a balcony cabin, late sitting, and hopefully try and relax with not a full ship. Having read some of the reviews on this site and never having cruised before we were a little uncertain what to expect from our first cruise. We can only say that from the moment our cases were checked in at the airport it was a pleasure. The flight going out was comfortable, food reasonable and service excellent (Thomson), the process of plane to ship was easy and ran very smoothly. We chose an inside cabin as you need to create a benchmark somewhere. The cabin was small as expected but well designed so that the available room was put to the most effective use. It was quiet and the cabin steward was brilliant, he couldn't do enough for us. The ship is very large and we would frequently go in the wrong direction as there are no indicators as to where is forward. This was no great problem and to be honest was part of the fun. We chose Freedom dining so that we could plan each evening around any shows we wanted to see. This was the right choice for us, not only did we meet some lovely people (only two exceptions), but we managed to take in some good entertainment as well. The standard of the shows was very good. Food - very good. There was always a good selection and the service was brilliant. The food in the buffet was also very good and a good variety was offered. We've seen comments that the the food in the buffet restaurants was repetitive and boring - we couldn't disagree more. Specialist restaurants - we tried Sindhu, this was easily the best Indian food we have experienced. The passengers - always a worry no matter what type of holiday you chose. We experienced a few very snooty, having done dozens of cruises, people and also a number of the 'Benidorm' set who seemed to be inseparable from the poll areas, but by far the vast majority of passengers were quite normal, friendly people. With a passenger list of over 3000, you will find all types but that's life. Only a couple of negatives: There is a policy that you can't save sunbeds, if you are not on them then they are free for anyone to use. This policy is good but is not policed in any way. As a result of this large swathes of beds near the pools were unavailable on sea days. The other negative is the habit of smokers to gather near to the entrances of the buffet restaurant or just outside the doors on the promenade deck. So although they are following the rules they also create a very unpleasant and unhealthy atmosphere in these specific areas. However, this is also true of public places and work places in normal life. Putting the two negatives to one side overall the cruise was brilliant, the food and entertainment excellent, service second to none and we can't wait to book another trip. Read Less

Being first time cruisers my wife and I spent many hours researching seeking advice reading reviews on - time of year, area, length of cruise, cruise line and Ship.We settled on a Caribbean cruise in February on the Azura. The ease and speed of embarkation was incredible and our cabin with a balcony was very nice and as expected. The service we received in all areas was excellent and any more I would have felt uncomfortable and demeaning against the crew (but for the grace of God we could have found ourselves in their position) The choice of places to eat was varied- we however met a good crowd at set dinning for ten and stay with them.Overall the food was very good indeed. We were a little slow in trying to book the retreat on a sea day however with so much going on I think i would have found it difficult to to sit on a sun bed all day. Again varied entertainment which was excellent from the sail aways to concerts. How do the Headliners remember all their dance steps in some eight different shows and where do they put all their costumes and scenery? Prices very reasonable even the supplements for some dinning We went to dance lessons for the first time and a couple of the many lectures. Went to the gym a few times but could not use the running machine as at 6 ft 4 hit my head on the ceiling -thats my excuse anyway We planned the excursions from home and were pleased we did as this enabled us to get an over view of the many islands. However in future we would perhaps make our own arrangements at a couple of the ports. All 3000 passengers appeared to British and everyone we spoke to were very friendly.Yes it was a large ship but everyone could make their own different holiday from it. We will cruise again and if the Azura was the only ship to tick all the boxes then we would have no problem in sailing again on her Read Less

This was our first cruise and we waited a long time for it to come around. We celebrated our honeymoon and we are a lot younger than typical cruisers! We expected a lot of elderly people to be on board but we were quite suprised to find there was a mix of ages. There were a lot of passengers who seemed to think they were better than everyone else and looked down on many people but we found a lot of people were also very friendly. Our stateroom was comfortable, altho our balcony light did not work for the whole of the cruise. I reported this to our cabin steward but nothing was done so I reported it to reception who told me they had a shortage of light bulbs. The food in the Glasshouse was amazing, although you had to pay a charge for this its well worth it. We did not eat in Seventeen or Sindhu. The buffet breakfast is very good and plenty of choice. Although lunch got a bit reptitive. The coral grill and pizzeria serves nice tasty snacks. We were on freedom dining which meant we could eat when we wanted in the Merdian restaurant. We never found this a problem, the most we had to wait was 15 mins for our table of two. The food in there was lovely and the waiters would always do what they could to accomadate you. Brodie's bar was great, the atmosphere was fantastic. All the casino dealers were lovely and friendly. Malibar is a lovely looking bar but service was usual slow even when not busy. Manhatten is great for those that want a dance late into the evening. Read Less
