Great destination, but not thrilled with ship.

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Azamara Journey

We tried this for the destination of going to Cuba. We are very loyal to Celebrity, but wanted to give this a chance. Not sure we’ll ever return. The balcony room was OK except for the tiny bathroom. We didn’t have the best attendants. Never got robes and one day they forgot to leave any washcloths or hand towel. Shore excursion person told us we needed their excursion in order to attend the ...

The January 2019 10 Day Cuba cruise was our 46th, and first on Azamara. Since the cruise right before ours experienced an outbreak of Norovirus, our ship was under the strictest controls the entire 10 days. You could not touch anything, no condiments on the tables, etc.. Overall, we were surprised at how many things were just not good on this ship, but grateful for those that worked. Journey is a ...

Azamara losing ground to its competitors

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Azamara Journey

Having not sailed Azamara in close to 8 years, after close to 20 cruises we chose to revisit Azamara based on their unique itinerary. We were able to see Cuba, and the three ABC islands to fill in gaps in our trips through the Caribbean. After 8 years Azamara is no longer the line it once was. In some ways it’s better than it used to be, and in other ways not as good as it used to be. Let’s all ...

Great cruise, awful food

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Azamara Quest

We recently sailed on the March 10th sailing of the Quest. We chose this ship for a couple of reasons, #1, the itinerary - 6 Caribbean ports, 4 of which were new to us and the #2 reason is that we have sailed RCCL several times and were Emerald level. The ship is very nice, we knew the veranda cabin would be smaller than we had recently experienced, but while it was compact, all our things fit ...

Destinations and the experience of a good trip on the sister ship Journey, unfortunately the restaurants on Quest fail miserably to compete with the standards achieved on Journey. Friday night dinner,X 8 returned raw or uncooked fish to the kitchen, gave up after so many attempts, the fish was never cooked to a safe edible plate noting a warning on the menus of the perils of uncooked fish, a ...

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary; being a smaller ship it could go to smaller ports. It was nice being the only ship in port so there weren't many people ashore. The visibility of the Officers was amazing and they were always so friendly - they were everywhere, sometimes even helping serve the speciality buffets. The variety and quality of the food in the Windows Cafe ...

Caribbean March 16 V1Club Veranda Stateroom on deck 8 This was our 5th Azamara cruise. First was Jan 11 Baja from SanDiego. Overall impression was something was lacking - service was hit or miss - staff seemed cordial but not friendly and always hurried. Think they are understaffed. Had 2 outstanding crew - Jason is Aqualina and then in Mosaic cafe and Michael at the sunset bar. I ...

I have sailed on much larger ships and knew that things would be very different on a smaller ship. I wanted a different itinerary and after many discussions with travel advisers and friends who had sailed with Azamara I bit the bullet and paid far more than I would of liked to book this cruise. I had been lead to believe that the service, food and more inclusive deals were far superior to ...

Disappointed with Journey

We had so looked forward to this cruise for a special birthday and left it disappointed. We booked a package with Azamara and the first problem was when we arrived at the airport to find that seats had not been booked although we had had been given seat numbers over the phone. The overnight hotel was the Hyatt Place at the airport and was fine for 1 night. The transfer to the port was ...

We had very high expectations for this cruise; perhaps they were too high, as we were quite disappointed. I'll start with the positives: Embarkation was easy and quick. We were on the ship and hooked up with our friends in no time. The ship is mostly beautiful. The colors are very natural and soothing, understated elegance. We had an inside room, and it was consistently and tastefully ...
