Great Itinerary and service, but not what I expected

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

We chose this cruise because it had a great itinerary, starting in Buenos Aires with 3 days in Rio during Carnaval, and it included Uruguay. We loved the itinerary, the staff on the ship was outstanding, helpful, friendly and seemed happy. Food was Ok, not what we had experience on a previous Quest cruise. In the restaurant the food was Ok,but not great most of the time, but the buffet didn't ...

Average cruise the destinations made up for the cruise itself.

So we were a little younger than most on the Ship but we weren’t to bothered with than until we found a few older people became rude and grumpy. Jumping lines constantly and on more than one occasion people arriving late to shows and demanding the best spaces to sit. And of course deck chair hogs need I say more. The service was good in parts great to see so many of the senior crew around the ...

Disappointed with the experience on Azamara Pursuit

Azamara Pursuit does not, imho, meet the standards that frequent cruisers with Azamara are used to. This was my 10th cruise with an Azamara ship within 10 years. In a way it was special to me because Azamara was one of my favorite cruise lines, and having cruised 10 times between 2009 and 2019, made me feel like celebrating a milestone. Well, nothing was really special about this cruise with ...

Love Azamara but..

We chose this cruise because we like the small ship experience with lots of sea days. We wanted to see Rio and Lisbon. Embarkation was a bit off-putting. We already had our bags tagged with our room number and did not need assistance getting our bags to the drop-off point. There was no place to drop our bags and we had to stand in line while others that used the porters were taken care of. Our ...

About the same as Oceania’s R class ships except no heated pool unlike Oceania

It is inexplicable why Azamara, when they drydocked the new to them Pursuit, did not add a pool heater. Although the pools on all the Old Renaissance ships are small and oddly shaped with their two whirlpools “pinching” the pool in the middle, Oceania made sure to add pool heaters, Azamara apparently cheaper out leaving the pool only functional for most when it is in the tropics. When we were ...

Delighted to see Azamara pick up another one of the "R-ships" and have a newly refurbished sister ship to Journey and Quest. It was great to see some familiar faces from the other ships on Pursuit. Overall, a good job in renovating the ship. We selected this cruise principally for the itinerary and were very much pleased with the ports of call; the fact that we had mostly great weather ...

The destination was the saving grace

We chose this cruise as we wanted to go to Antarctica but didn't want to pay the prices of the expedition ships. Fortunately the ship was small enough to allow us to navigate some of the small passages and appreciate the wonder of icebergs and penguins. We even entered an active volcano. 17 days on board with only 4 ports was a bit too long, but we knew this when we signed up. What we didn't ...

The ship is lovely except for the old windows which need painting. The dining room food and service was outstanding. Thank you Vishal ..the egg man, for looking after us. The Living Room was our favourite place...classy, quiet, and relaxing with the ever changing view. The buffet food was always only luke warm. Many passengers complained but this was never resolved. Shore excursions ...

Just Average

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Azamara Journey

Been on Azamara several times. The brand is in the luxury market and priced accordingly and, in this light, I think it has slipped from its original standards. The staff are still very good and attentive but the food quality has just lost its edge compared to other lines like Regent and some of the menus used in Discoveries were worn which is not a good look. As well, the major entertainment is ...

This was our third trip on the Journey. We have not been on any other cruise ships , so cannot compare. Overall it was a good trip. We very much like the small ship experience, no kids ambiance, and the staff are all excellent , and seem to "know you personally". Other guests were predominantly "senior", but well traveled and easy to get into conversation with. The one point many other ...
