Overall a very enjoyable cruise.
What we like about Azamara ....the friendly crew/ officers, the small ship atmosphere, the food, the Living Room and The Den with good live music....it was all there on this South Africa Intensive itinerary.

We choose this cruise to see South Africa. We have sailed many times before with RCCL and Celebrity.
We knew within minutes this would be our first and last Azamara cruise. This did not change as the cruise progressed.
Excursions were expensive and well organised.

Crew as always is very friendly and available but found our room stewards did not clean up to AZ standards.
Our butler was excellent and followed up on the poor cleaning crew as did Philip the hotel director.
The room also is looking worn as some wallpaper is peeling.
The food is standard AZ as not bad at all but not gourmet.

Overall, we experienced a very good cruise, and would definitely sail with Azamara again. This was our first voyage with Azamara, and we have previously sailed with Windstar, as well as Carnival, and NCL (never will go back to a large ship like those again!

Food was also above average in both Windows and Discoveries. I was unsure that Aqualina/Prime C was worth the extra money. We did splurge on the Valentine's Dinner in Aqualina, and that was incredible. I loved our waiters (Philbert and Yolana) in Discoveries.

Even though US citizens made up only approx 30% of the total passengers, the cruise was primarily aimed at Americans. If you attended a quiz, the questions were invariably geared to American culture, a fact acknowledged by the quiz-masters. We are experienced cruisers and have tried a number of different cruise lines over many years. Overall, we enjoyed this cruise despite the disappointment of missing Raratonga due to the poor weather and conditions too dangerous to permit safe tendering.
