This is our feedback on the cruise we booked onboard following our 2022 France intensive cruise. This time it's Spain intensive (Lisbon to Barcelona). Since we only sail Azamara it's an Azamara 2022 V Azamara 2023 comparison.
Once again, we sailed on the Journey and, as previously, the ship sailed and arrived exactly as scheduled in each port and in every case appeared to have the best berth ...
We selected this cruise as we were familiar with the Azamara line, having sailed with them previously. We prefer ships with fewer than 1,000 passengers, port-intensive itineraries, and the carefree nature of all-inclusive voyages. This was our 42nd cruise in all, and our fourth with Azamara. Having visited most of Asia on prior land and cruise vacations, The "Land of the Rising Sun" had alluded ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary from Hong Kong to Tokyo and for the cherry blossom. The itinerary changed and the apple blossom didn’t show!!. We used Imagine Cruising to book as there were a couple of tours included for the mega bucks charged. (As it happened they were not worth the money.)
Boarding was a complete nightmare. They excused it by saying they hadn’t done it since ...
We chose the cruise to meet up with family from the UK and to visit Japan for the first time. This was our first time on Azamara. The embarkation in Hong Kong was chaotic. Most staff are a delight and go out of their way to help; a few should find another occupation.
We only did two ship's tours and they were excellent. Our main complaint was the lack of port information before we docked. ...
My husband and I chose this Azamara Journey West Africa cruise starting on 4th March 2023 from Cape Town to Walvis Bay Namibia, Luanda Angola, Takoradi Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madeira and Lisbon on account of the stops in the African ports.
We have sailed a lot with other cruise companies like Holland America, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian but this was our ...
We chose this cruise based on location and the CruiseCritic Review of 4.5 by the editor who is delusional with her ratings of this ship---have lost all confidence in CruiseCritic ship ratings. Silverseas' newest ship Silver Moon was only rated 5 stars. We have sailed on both and it is Waldorf Astoria vs Holiday Inn. First the rooms are very small. A bathroom that two people cannot stand in at ...
For our first cruise embarking from a port outside the U.S. and our first cruise w/ Azamara, what an experience South Africa was! Not that we’re new to cruising. It’s just that the 25 or so cruises we’ve taken over the years haven’t been quite as memorable or immersive as this one. Our key takeaway… We really do prefer the atmosphere, service, and conviviality of smaller ship cruising, and the ...
This was our second time on the Journey, we previously had sailed a Baltic’s itinerary in 2018. We loved that itinerary, this one was not as good for us. Be aware that the ports are chosen for the safari tours you can take from the ports, not the actual ports. There is really nothing to do and most are very poor. Be sure to plan excursions!
The ship is still in good shape. Our cabin was very ...
First time with Azamara. We chose the cruise as we liked the itinerary around South Africa. Unfortunately one of the key ports of Durban was cancelled about a month before we departed due to the South Africans hosting the Russian navy…..
Cape Town was the highlight, and we enjoyed Maputo. We were very fortunate to have booked private tours from Richards Bay with a fantastic guide name Don ...
We had a wonderful time on the Quest and enjoyed the size of ship as have traveled on the Oceania identical ships. The choice of food and quality were generally excellent though a few meals were cold on delivery.
The dining room staff were also excellent most of the times but a few nights the waiting staff were very slow and mucked up the orders.
Overall the staff were amazing and couldn’t ...
