Better than larger cruise lines but not a luxury ship

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Azamara Journey

We chose this cruise because we hoped it would be more luxurious, being the highest quality line that Royal Caribbean became but it was not. I would describe this as better than Celebrity (also RC) but not on par with Seaborne or other similar ships. The food was decent. The speciality restaurants were not worth the money. The best place we ate was the Patio which was outside. A small ...

This was my second cruise, both with Azamara. I'm not sure how I venture to another company to make a comparison as Azamara is just delightful. We spent 4 days in Stockholm before boarding which was excellent, such a beautiful city. We found our cabin to be very comfortable, clean and well looked after by our lovely room attendants. Dining onboard is very good. Lots of options and the ...

Baltic and birthday cruise

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We had wanted to visit St. Petersburg for some time and this cruise offered 3 days to explore and were not disappointed. Embarkation was easy despite the weather. Cabin was complete with birthday balloons and was well located. Dining was pleasant in Discoveries restaurant though sometimes felt the menu was a little limited. Windows café was nice when ...

Very predictable Azamara - no surprises

We chose this cruise as it gave us the longest time in St. Petersburg. Also as we live in Scotland, leaving from Edinburgh was a bonus! We'd been on the Journey twice before and in truth we've mainly gone by itinerary. In April/May we were fortunate to take the 3 week Spice Route cruise which was amazing. It was fun and seemed to have a 'friendlier' and more laid back feel but apart from ...

Great close-in access to ports and wonderful surprise once onboard!

This cruise was selected to celebrate our anniversary and to get out of the extreme summer heat of Florida! Azamara only offered the one sailing for this itinerary, or we'd have selected another time to go since it was PEAK tourist season in all the ports of call. That made the trip stressful at times dealing with the thousands of visitors and hundreds of busses at tight venues, particularly in ...

Another great Azamara cruise but the need to be aware of the competition

We returned to Azamara after our first voyage last year on the Quest. We found that the two ships were almost similar although we preferred the artwork on the Quest better than the Journey. Else, everything was equal and the service continued to be excellent. We thought that the main dining room's menu had drastically improved over the past year and featured a more wide-ranging assortment of ...

My son took me on the cruise for a very special birthday....age not for public knowledge...We had a great time, met some wonderful people ( fellow cruisers and crew) AND MADE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY. STAYED UP TILL ALL HOURS, SANG DANCED AND IN GENERAL MADE MY BIRTHDAY SPECIAL. and I even went in the pool which is completely unknown for me. Loved every port we visited, even the soaking we ...

2nd time on Azamara

Last minute decision based on previous cruise and of course itinerary. We also like being on a smaller ship. Although the crew was wonderful, always helpful we felt the quality of the food has diminished since our first cruise with Azamara. The first one was 2 years ago. I am not sure why this happened. We decided to take a cabin on the 4th floor without a balcony. It was the typical ...

Wonderful Norwegian cruise on an excellent ship

This was our first ocean cruise and it went well. No problems at all. We were in a stateroom with window midships and had an uninterrupted view. We were just above the door used for most pilot movements but this was not a problem and gave us a fair bit of entertainment as we made extensive use of pilots during the trip. The size of the ship and number of passengers was ideal for this type of ...

Not perfect but a great time anyway

Not new to Azamara so know what to expect and on the whole it does deliver a great experience. However on this journey I did have some niggles, everything was not perfect but once I spoke to the Rob, Guest Services Manager, things did get better. However as the scourge of many cruise lines the devil is in the detail and the ball kept being dropped. On arrival we had been twinned on an embarkation ...
