Overall excellent cruise with some issues

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Journey

The staff, cuisine and ability for the ship to enter all ports owing to it's size, were truly excellent. The entertainment was a standout especially as regards the external talent. The Azamara troupe was full of xing but not always great individual singing talent. That said...as a troupe they were just fine and the Cruise Directors excellent. Yes the ship is in need of some TLC as it has clearly ...

First time on Azamara and NOT disappointed !

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Journey

We have cruised over 12 voyages on various cruise lines, including a river cruise and have had varied experiences. We had heard great things about Azamara and we were not disappointed. Yes, the earlier technical glitches were unnerving but thanks to the many loyal Azamara regulars on this site, our concerns were allayed. While the room was smaller that we expected, we found lots of cubbies to ...

First Luxury Cruise…Will It Be My Last?

Previously to this cruise, all of my ocean cruises had been on “value” and “premium” lines (RCCL, Carnival, NCL, Celebrity, Princess). I chose this Azamara cruise because the prices for a balcony on this 7-day cruise was only $1675 per person and came with an $800 OBC (per cabin), which isn’t much more expensive than those other lines. (For comparison, the cruise the prior week on same ship was ...

Very good, but not outstanding, voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona

We got a late deal at a good price - booked an Inside Guarantee. We were pleased to have a complimentary cabin upgrade. We enjoyed the cruise and benefited from fine weather throughout. We were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding condition of the ship despite having no major refit for 7 years. Embarkation and disembarkation was smooth. We appreciated being able to upload the key personal ...

Israel, Egypt & Cypress: excellent excursions, good food, and good service

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Journey

While searching for cruise-related information on the internet, I noticed an offer from Azamara for a last-minute deal on a cruise to Cypress, Israel, and Egypt. The price was excellent--less than I had just paid for a Princess cruise of the same length 2 months earlier. When I first saw the ship from the outside, I was taken aback as it appeared to be a much older-looking ship than I imagined. ...

We booked this crossing as we were headed back to the States after a long holiday in Europe and the departure and arrival ports fit our plans. This was our 35th cruise and our 5th time on Azamara. The best part of the trip were the people we met on board. We had many fun evenings over drinks in the Living Room before dinner and dancing after dinner. We booked a large suite and were very ...

Great entertainment, bathrooms too small!

Ship is nice with a good itinerary. The idea of spending the night in a few ports was attractive. However, the itinerary changed 3 times after we had booked and we booked only 100 days out. These changes actually took out an entire night in Rouen, France which changed the ability to spend an evening in Paris which was our plan. Azamara's goal is to make this a boutique cruise catering to a smaller ...

Nice ship, great port stops, a few misses

We sailed on Azamara Journey from Barcelona 29-Sept-18 to Rome 6-Oct-18. Cabin 7121. This was our first sailing with Azamara, our 15th cruise overall. Anxious to try out the smaller ship we were looking forward to this itinerary and stopping in some smaller ports the itinerary offered. Embarkation was incredibly easy, only issue was finding the ship location as it differed from the address ...

Piraeus to Civitavecchia: Upmarket but not ultra-luxury

After recent cruises with Silversea and Crystal, chose this port-intensive eastern Mediterranean itinerary for our preferred dates. We liked Journey’s Resort Casual atmosphere, but you get the room size you pay for, with bathrooms designed for hobbits. Unlike previous reviewers we enjoyed the entertainment: the excellent Standing Ovations opera quartet sang favourite tunes one night; another ...

Port Intensive Cruise to the Middle East

We sailed on the Azamara Journey 18 months ago and really enjoyed it so we decided to book this cruise from Athens to Dubai. We arrived after 2:30 pm so embarkation was a breeze. The ship came out of dry dock just prior to our cruise 18 months ago and the refurb is showing it’s age especially in the staterooms. The bathroom shower is wallpapered and starting to peel and the floor of the bathroom ...
