Small with virtually no distance between foot of the bed and the wall, not particularly well kept, mold in bathroom, dirty shower curtain and not great quality bed sheets and pillow cases. Read entire member review >>
The cabin was a reasonable size with very comfortable large bed. Lighting was good and and all linen was in good condition and very clean. There was plenty of cupboard and hanging space. The bathroom was compact, clean and perfectly adequate. It was well insulated and you did not get any noise from other cabins. We did however smell smoke from someone who was smoking on a balcony in spite of the no smoking rule.
There was no noise from engines or anything. Read entire member review >>
The staterooms on this ship are small, we knew this in advance, the bathrooms are particularly small but I think manageable. The condition of the stateroom was disappointing. There was a sticky brown substance on the divider of the veranda that was never cleaned, the paint was chipping and the balcony rail seemed to have burn marks on it. The bathroom shower was actually rusty, the headboard was broken and falling and the reading light was broken and dangling. Sheets had unnerving stains on them. The info system did not work at all. The emergency announcement system did not work Read entire member review >>
We´ve got an upgrade to a verandah stateroom at the aft of deck 8. Okay, sounds good, but this part of the ship is vibrating all the time, when the ship is sailing. If you like to read a book lying on your bed, this will vibrate all the time. If you are sensitive for seasickness, this is not the cabin type for you.
Cabin: The new beds are wonderful, the mattresses are really comfortable, and the bedding is very good.
Compared to the old beds, which caused us backache for the whole cruise, this is a quantum leap forward in comfort.
They mixed old parts in the cabin like the closets and the desk with the new refurbished parts, like the beds, new carpets, new love seat, new huge TV. Bathroom is as small as in an inside cabin and I hate this close contact to the shower curtain every day. But the bathroom is too small for another solution. We like the creamy soaps, shampoos, body lotions, but a lady asked me to write, that the smell is not acceptable for men. I spoke about it to other passengers and they were satisfied as we were, even the men. Towels were soft but some of the small towels had stains and wholes. That is not acceptable for a ship like the Journey and attendants have to sort them out. Hotel director agreed about this fact. Stateroom was cleaned twice a day, bottled water were placed close to the bed every evening.
The verandah was deeper than the usual verandahs, but… a lot of soot every day. You could not use the deckchairs without putting a towel on it. They cleaned it every day, but if you wanted to use the table in the afternoon (when ship was sailing) you first had to clean the table by yourself. There is enough space for the table with a comfortable size you can have your breakfast or other meals and two chairs. Read entire member review >>
Our cabin was 7025. It was adequate. Bedding was excellent. Cabin only had one comfortable chair. Many rooms had a love seat, but this was an adjoining room so probably limited space due to the adjoining door. The shower size was small. We found it adequate but we are small. The room needed some punch list items completed, which we reported and they mostly repaired. The ship probably needed another week in dry dock. Laundry room was not in service since we heard that the new equipment was too tall to allow fire sprinkler system to operate properly. People who asked received free laundry service. THE VERANDA CABIN
I found the layout of the cabin to be spacious with lots of nooks and crannies to stow clothing and accessories. The 2 closets and ample dress hangers were more than adequate. With the large vanity mirror & mirror wall across from the bed, the natural light was magnified. At night the vanity lights, over head recessed lights, & bedside table lamps were sufficient for mood or reading light. The bathroom upgrades will give that quality finish, and I hope they retain a corner mirrored medicine chest storage as well as the open glass shelves. The mini-frig was filled with the complimentary beverage of our choice, but we rarely used it as we were either in port, at a shipboard activity, or dining.
The balcony isn't deep, but a large square table takes up 1/3 of the space, allowing for ample room for dining set-up and two chairs. I wonder if a 30" square table wouldn't suffice, allowing for more standing room and space to move the chairs around. A table for 4 isn't needed when you can't fit 4 chairs around it. I loved the veranda cabin, but could be equally as happy with the ocean view (identical in size with picture window) where the itinerary isn't in the calm warm waters of the Med or Caribbean. Cabin was on the small side but offered enough space to stay organized, plenty of shelves, drawers and hangers. Our cabin attendant was friendly and was around if you needed anything but not smothering. The tiny bath room was not luxury but sufficient . We managed. Bed was comfy and breakfast on the veranda was lovely. The cabin was a bit tired but will soon be going into dry dock for a refresh. Read entire member review >>
This V3 veranda cabin was far forward. An unremarkable cabin, same as others in its class. The location was great, however, We weren't too far up the hall from either stairs/elevator or the laundry room. Quiet. Read entire member review >>
We were in a balcony cabin 7021 forward and not disappointed although they are now beginning to need a bit of a facelift. Mini bar replenished daily with soft drinks but liquor is charged. TV good size and beds very comfortable. Housekeeping staff very efficient and nothing too much trouble. As "regular cruisers" we did get some extra "perks" (4 bags of free laundry - superb service and beautifully laundered) and 300 minutes of wifi which is available in cabins as well as public areas.
