This was our third trip through the Panama Canal and we enjoyed it as much as our first two. We had been to many of the ports on this itinerary before, so we picked this cruise for the ship - we love the R Class ships. We sailed many times on Renaissance - it was our favorite line. We have followed the dispersal of the 8 R Class ships after the line filed for bankruptcy (Oceania has 4, Azamara ...
I don't usually write reviews, there are so many good descriptions of cruises and ports I normally don't feel I have a lot to add, but this last cruise was such a disappointment and it was relatively expensive I thought I had to.
Six of us booked an Azamara cruise through the Panama Canal based on an earlier cruise I had taken and therefore recommended we ‘upgrade’ to Azamara. Unfortunately ...
Just came back from our cruise, and it was more than I expected. I had read some of the reviews, and since this was my first time on this ship, I was a little worried. Our experience was great. I'll tell you the negative first. The shower stalls are very small, but the amenities are good. The excursions from the ship did not appeal to me and it was expensive, as is the spa.
The good ...
Been on Azamara several times. The brand is in the luxury market and priced accordingly and, in this light, I think it has slipped from its original standards. The staff are still very good and attentive but the food quality has just lost its edge compared to other lines like Regent and some of the menus used in Discoveries were worn which is not a good look. As well, the major entertainment is ...
This was our third trip on the Journey. We have not been on any other cruise ships , so cannot compare.
Overall it was a good trip. We very much like the small ship experience, no kids ambiance, and the staff are all excellent , and seem to "know you personally". Other guests were predominantly "senior", but well travelled and easy to get into conversation with.
The one point many other ...

My husband and I just returned from the 12 Night Rio Carnival & Buenos Aires Voyage on the Azamara Journey and we can't stop raving about the trip. We are well-seasoned travelers who have taken more than a handful of cruises, but this experience was really "la creme de la creme."
We love cruising for the ease with which it allows you to see multiple destinations: you unpack your bags once, you ...
This was our first Azamara cruise and will not be our last. From the very first day until the last, the service was superb. The food was excellent in both the Discoveries Restaurant and the Window's Cafe. We particularly enjoyed dinners in the Window's Cafe sitting at the stern of the ship, enjoying the sunset and breeze. The waiters and staff were super responsive and friendly. Noteworthy staff - ...
Due to the bad weather we missed the Buenos Aires port which we were looking forward to. ChoiceAir was the worst company to deal with. My husband and I never book through cruise lines but due to unpredictable weather we decided to take a chance. ChoiceAir has an emergency team that is supposed to do everything they can to ensure you get to the ship. They did not accommodate our requests but were ...
Went on this ship 14 years ago and nothing's changed in all that time! It needs a total makeover, a total gutting of the ship. It looks old and feels old.
The food in the dining room was only mediocre. They have 2 specialty restaurants which were better but they charge you extra to dine there. This felt like "nickle and diming". The cruise was not inexpensive--these restaurants should be included ...
