BACKGROUND AND BOTTOM LINE
Avid cruiser, many times with Holland and Cunard.
First time on Azamara and was in a suite. It will be our last. Exceedingly poor value.
THE GOOD
The shore excursions. While they contract with others to do them, they still get some credit for it.
The size of the ship.
The itinerary.
THE BAD
Communication before and after the cruise was ...
After taking the Italian peninsula cruise last year on the Azamara Quest,( from Rome to Venice) we were looking forward to another wonderful vacation. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The ports of call along the Spanish coast were not interesting and the ports themselves were more commercial than pleasurable with working cranes, ferry boats and warehouses in full view of the ship. The ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and it as great. Ephesus was unbelievable and the private excursion was noteworthy. There were several great features and some poor features. The captain was delightful and went out of his way to be visible and friendly. The entertainment director is a very talented singer and entertainer and was a lot of fun. The cabin staff were very friendly and efficient. ...
This was our 8th cruise with Azamara (both Journey and Quest) dating back to May, 2008 so we are familiar with the ships, many of the crew/staff members and generally know what to expect. Any comments/criticisms are not a reflection on the many friends who work on the ships that we have been able to get to know and enjoy. They are the sole reason, if any, to consider continuing with Azamara; not ...
Having cruised with Celebrity (regularly) and Royal Caribbean we were curious to see (what we perceived to be) the most luxurious cruise line from the RCL stable was like, and this taster cruise was a good chance to experience it. Sadly it didn't live up to our expectations. From the shambolic main dining experience to the odd assortment of cabin furniture, we were left unimpressed. The website ...
Never tried it b4. tauted as a luxery cruise with top amenities. not true. cabin/crew service awful. dining room crew awful, poorly trained wait staff.
Shore tours were very expensive with poor guides. very little value for the money. over all i would have to say the tours were expensive, sloppily run and poorly organized. as you might tell by now, i doubt that i would ever sail on ...
We were on the Azamara Journey for the transatlantic sailing April 5 to April 20 of this year and overall it was our 11th with Azamara and our 72nd cruise in total. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed and after returning home cancelled 3 future cruises with Azamara.
We prefer to dance after dinner, rather than sitting in a show, and unfortunately many evenings for us were tedious and ...
Maybe my expectations were too high. Having cruised Oceania and Regent as well as many other lines, I was under the impression Azamara was 6 star.
Embarkation and disembarkation were efficient and painless
The staff were lovely, and very helpful , trying to sort out problems they didnt have the resources to.
The entertainment was very limited, a guitarist, a pianist, the evening shows. ...
We went on Holly Lands cruise Athens -> Istanbul, with Israel, Turkey and Greece ports.
Azamara managed to completely ruin Israel, Phahos Greece) and Kas (Turkey) because all 3 days in Israel were a holiday and Shabbat: Thursday through Saturday.
Why Azamara named this cruise Holly Lands (the main attraction of this cruise) just to schedule Israel on a holiday and Shabbat when everything ...
On my previous Azamara cruises, I was amazed. Unfortunately, this cruise was not amazing. I booked directly with Azamara in October. At that time I was told that if I booked my excursions on line at least 4 days prior to sailing, I would get a 25% discount. After I paid my final payment, I was told that the discount had been withdrawn without notice. I was upset. I wrote and called Azamara ...
