Azamara Journey Disappoints

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Journey

This was my third and last cruise (12 Night Best of the Holy Land) aboard the Journey. The ship is in desperate need of a serious makeover not just refreshing cosmetics. The staff was as friendly as ever. The quality and choices of food one expects from a cruise line that aspires to luxury branding was lacking. Even visits to the specialty restaurants fell short. Tour guides did not seem to be ...

Very poor planning by Azamara - unforgivable!

We went on Holly Lands cruise Athens -> Istanbul, with Israel, Turkey and Greece ports. Azamara managed to completely ruin Israel, Phahos Greece) and Kas (Turkey) because all 3 days in Israel were a holiday and Shabbat: Thursday through Saturday. Why Azamara named this cruise Holly Lands (the main attraction of this cruise) just to schedule Israel on a holiday and Shabbat when everything ...

Ship much older than one would think. Interior tries to intimidate the luxury of by gone days. 1). RECEPTION Check in at port excellent and quick. At reception it stated that the ship was full and no cabins were available to be changed. This was totally untrue. Upon reaching our cabin which was to be shared by two ladies we found it to be extremely small and dark and in no way suitable ...

Just a few words to let you know that Azamara is still a great choice for cruise ship aficcionados. Embarkation and disembarkation went smooth. Journey is a medium size ship elegant and quiet like I like. No annoying music around the pool like other more popular cruise ships. Food is good and varied. Fish, steak and soup are great. Dessert could be better and I would appreciate my red wines ...

Small Ship, but Not Too Small; Friendly, but Not Obtrusive

THE SHIP We picked a 9 port-intensive itinerary for a 9 day cruise: Athens RT, Mykonos, Patmos, Rhodes, & Santorini in Greece, with Bodrum, Kas, Fethiye, and Marmaris along Turkey's Turquoise coast. Because we enjoyed the ship's activities, food, and entertainment so much, I would definitely look for a voyage with some sea days! It is great the ship is almost entirely no smoking, reserving ...

Embarkation in Piraeus was easy. As our taxi pulled up to the cruise terminal in Piraeus, an Azamara rep with a clipboard greeted us and two uniformed attendants relieved us of our luggage. In short order, we handing our passports and paperwork to a cheerful and chatty gate agent. Absent any signs of norovirus or ebola, she photographed us, gave us our key cards, and pointed us toward the ...

When our son announced he was getting married in Spain two years ago, we knew we wanted to add something from our "bucket list" to our second trip to Spain. We decided to add a "luxury" cruise to tick off Greece and Turkey from our list. I think I read every single review about the Azamara Journey experience before I booked our cruise. I was nervous when reading that some previous cruisers ...

The purpose of this seven night cruise, our tenth on Azamara, was for some relaxation. It was a port intensive cruise with only one sea day. Only one port was new to us (Patmos). An upsell offer pre cruise allowed us to splurge and enjoy a beautiful large room at the back of the ship. The passenger mix on this cruise had a good balance between those from the USA, UK and Australia/NZ. ...

First Azamara cruise

This was our first Azamara cruise. Wanted to see if we liked the small ship experience as we tend to favour Celebrity's Solstice class ships. There are pluses and minuses. Loved the fact that you never had to fight for a sunbed and no loud music by the pool. Also thought the nightly entertainment in the show lounge was surprisingly good. I so didn't want to like the cruise director Eric de Gray ...

Our second Azamara cruise, and only our third cruise in total - so not old hands at this yet. We wanted warm weather (our first cruise in October was not blessed with such!), and boy was it it warm... hot actually... but it was July in the eastern Med. And the Journey was a lovely haven to return to after a hot day at port - great air conditioning ensuring comfortable nights. The ports visited ...
