Avalon does it right!
Boat was in excellent condition, crew was fabulous.
Adding the Happy hour was an excellent way to start your evening on board. Never had to wait for a drink, the service was impeccable.
All meals on board are delicious & service in the dining room is top notch. Seating very comfortable with tables available for two, four ,and a few larger tables for bigger ...
This was to be our first river cruise after exclusively going on ocean cruises. We weren't sure if it would be what we are interested in. We chose a shorter cruise (8 days) on a less travelled river to avoid larger crowds. It is a different experience never being out of sight of land and all activities on board occurring at a fixed time. It is also very different travelling with 120 passengers ...
We were about to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something special. Having been on several ocean cruises we deiced a river cruise in France would be a nice option. We couldn't have made a better choice. Avalon handled everything and it was all first rate. The food was exceptional and there were many options to choose from. my wife has a few food sensitivity issues, and they ...
Our recent Avalon Active and Discovery Cruise (southbound on the Rhone) exceeded our expectations. We chose to visit Paris for the 2 days prior to our cruise. The airport transfer was easy, and our Tour Director Simona met us at 7:30 am at our hotel, the Marriott Opera Ambassador. (Great hotel; excellent location; wonderful full breakfast included.) Many “must sees” close to the hotel, including ...
Friends were already booked on it, and so we elected to join them! I had always fancied a river cruise, as opposed to an ocean cruise, and particularly wanted to do this Saone- Rhône one.
I thought it was very good value for money, as there were several excursions included, and also drinks with meals.
I throughly enjoyed it, as I adore France, so I was in heaven, visiting so many beautiful ...
We choose this cruise for ports and because there were options for active excursions.

There were high expectations for this cruise. We do not get to take very many vacations together as a married couple, especially as we are working and our schedules do not align very often. So, much emphasis was placed on maximizing our time. We had take the Avalon cruise of the Rhine River in 2018, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an "active cruise" and also introductory - which meant that ...
We were looking for a Provence experience and Avalon delivered. First Avalon sets the standard for top. Held cruise experiences. The rooms, the staff and crew are so attentive. They made us feel so very special . The food, entertainment and excursions were all excellent. We gained so much information about all the places we visited.
The special Avalon service started at the airport where they ...
We had done Amsterdam to Basel in 2018, and Paris-Normandy-Paris in 2019. This was our third cruise, and in our opinion, the best so far. Poetry II was immaculate and the crew and staff were friendly, competent, courteous and professional. As usual, the food was superb with excellent wine accompaniments. The daily "happy hour" is the best idea yet! We haven't decided where next year's cruise will ...
I chose this cruise because thirteen friends and family were going on cruise. Unfortunately, I was the only one who made it. Two got covid, and the others cancelled because cruise was shortened to four nights, due to strikes in France. I was already in Paris so I decided to take the abbreviated cruise.
I can't really call it much of a cruise as we only spent two days actually cruising and ...
