There are no better views from your cabin than with Avalon Waterways. I’ve sailed with Avalon before and love the 200’ cabin, with 11 foot glass wall that opens up to 7’ of water, sun, fresh air & spectacular views which can be seen from my river-facing bed!! Awesome!!! New awesome concepts are: 1. the fabulous coffee machine in the lounge area 2. station to refill water bottles 3. ...

Pleasant Avalon Cruise, But More Expensive Than Its Worth

Our Avalon Rhine River cruise from Basel to Amsterdam was taken in late October 2019. The cruise was pleasant with no real negatives, but also without any exceptional experiences or excursions. The cruise is marketed as an 8 day cruise, but there are 7 breakfasts, 6 lunches, and 7 dinners included, so its a 7 day cruise at best. The last 24 hours are spent docked in Amsterdam, so you are ...

Service could have been better

The active cruise interested us as we are both avid walkers and enjoy biking and hiking. We were disappointed in the Avalon service compared to our experience on a Uniworld River Cruise on the Danube River. We enjoyed the option of the flexible dining that Avalon Cruise provided, but found the food being removed an hour earlier than advertised e.g. 8:00 PM instead of 9 PM. Then when we tried to go ...

Low water levels in August caused 3 bus trips.

After 40 trips and cruises over seas, this 15 day Budapest to Amsterdam was our first river cruise. The record low water levels throughout Europe required us to take 3 bus trips to get around low water sections. The biggest problem is that we missed most of the Rhine River cruise up to Cologne and then on to Amsterdam. We each got compensated $200 and 50% off the daily cruise rate for each of ...

Relaxing Rhine and Danube Cruise Experience

We chose this cruise as we knew we would see lots of castles, beautiful churches and pretty towns and villages and we are particularly keen on scenery and wanted to see Vienna and Budapest. We would have liked a little more time in Cologne and Passau but realise that sometimes it is not possible for this to happen due to our sailing times. All the staff were helpful and friendly at all times. Our ...

High Quality Cruise Amsterdam to Budapest

Went on 15 day cruise Amsterdam to Budapest. Ship, crew, food, cabin all excellent. You tend to travel overnight, mooring up during the day, often for just a few hours for quick tour either on foot or by coach. We would have preferred longer time to wander but of course it would mean less stops. When you moor up you are often stacked up against other boats and if you are unlucky there is no view ...

My wife and I are in our mid '60's. This was our first river cruise. The Panorama is a newer ship in great shape, with sliding glass doors on all of the rooms that are above the waterline. We found this to be an exceptional feature that added a lot to our travel experience. Because there is no "Balcony" the size of the cabin is larger than a ship with balconies. (Remember, there is a width ...
