Firstly let me say how wonderful all the crew were. Our cabin crew were so helpful friendly and efficient. Food overall was delicous except for shell and bone we ordered the cold seafood platter the seafood was not good watery tasteless and tough. Why they have no salads on that menu is beyond me. We also had the high tea please p&o advertise this better for it was the best high tea i have ever had, unfortunatly people we spoke too had not seen anything about it and missed out. Yes you have renovated. Sorry to say the loo's missed out. Being a little short i found it nearly impossible to see much of the shows so i think the marquee might be needing a upgrade. What i did see was excellent. Our cabin was old but clean but definitly needing a little reno. Overall we loved our short little cruise and are looking forward to our next cruise on the eden. A mix of good and bad. The service was generally excellent. The onboard lecturers were very good. The Palm Court is a lovely room with excellent staff and quickly became our room of choice on board. The food, in particular the main courses in the MDR, were mostly very disappointing. Every meal seemed to emphasis Salmon or Shrimp and the meats were dry, bland or overcooked. Considering this was supposedly a Food & Wine cruise it was not good. The entertainment was variable, sometimes quite good and sometimes very ordinary, and catered for more for a 70+ market rather than the 50+ market my wife and our friends belong to. The 'streamlined onboard checkin' was one of the slowest checkins I've experienced and definitely not what you would expect with a smaller luxury ship. And despite being an upmarket ship, we copped the second string berth at many ports, with the prime spots going to other vessels. I enjoyed the cruise but my wife and I both agree it wasn't worth the higher cost, even with its all-inclusive nature, and I think we'd rather go back to a balcony or suite on Princess or HAL over another oceanview on Crystal. The food and wine cruise on Pacific Aria was absolutely amazing. From the moment we lined up to check in (the line moved very quickly) to when we first opened the door to our amazing room to the moment we unfortunately had to leave the ship (which took all of a very quick 5 minutes) we had an amazing time. We got an upgrade on the level of our cabin due to our cruise being for our 20th wedding anniversary. Our cabin was beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. The bed was comfy and the added bonus of having a tv and dvd player was great for relaxing in bed late at night. The bathroom was very clean and easy to use. We also had a great steward (thanks Richard) whom was always at the ready to assist us. We mostly dined at the pantry which we absolutely loved. The food was always yummy and the various daily selections blew us away every time. The staff in the pantry were always very nice and extremely helpful. We dined twice at the Waterfront restaurant but felt the food came nowhere near the quality and selection of the pantry. Loved drinking the yummy cocktails. The ship itself was beautifully furnished with great colour schemes. I loved the blue room. It was always such a pleasure to walk around the ship. The games that were on during the day were always great fun and we had lots of laughs. The night time entertainment was great and we even got to watch the nrl grand final. My husband and I had an awesome time on the Pacific Aria and never once did we feel unhappy or disappointed. (except when we didn't get in quick enough to book into Angelo's and the Dragon Lady. Do this as soon as you get on board. We were still happy though) Can't wait to do it again, this time with our three children. Had an awesome time, loved it, loved it, loved it. Read Less

This was a food and wine short cruise. It was the first time we had an interior cabin which was right up the back of the ship. With the beds pushed into the middle for a queen, there was not a lot of room left down the sides to actually get into the bed. However, there was heaps of storage space being a cabin for 4 people. It ended up being a great location as we only had to walk out the back door and then up to the buffet area, or down one to the adults area. There were 6 of us travelling together so we always booked a table for dining together. The food was good but the service was a bit lacking. The entertainment was good but we did not undertake any of the wine appreciation activities. We did however, attend a food demonstration which was really entertaining. We took our own accessories for the Gatsby night. It didn't cost much for headpieces for ladies and coloured braces and bow ties for the men. It ended up being a good night. We did intend going to the Bianco party but it was really cold up on deck but we did see a lot of different versions of white from passengers. Read Less

The service, the food, the crew, the accommodations, the Great Barrier Reef Queensland, AU, it doesn't get any better than this for an active fit adult experience. We did the 7 day which is the 3 and 4 day combined of north and south cruises out of Cairns, pronounced Cans, and loved it. There is a bit of a shakeup when you lose shipmates and pick up new crew and passengers after 3 nights, but the new were just as friendly as the ones who left. We happened to pick the shoulder season so with a crew of 11-12 and 11 passengers on each of the passages the service was fantastic. But pictures of crystal clear water with depths of 100-120 feet wasn't what we saw. Our only disappointment was our first stop for snorkeling at Fitzroy Island. When we got back on board from snorkeling, we looked at each other and said what a waste of money if this is what we came to see. Yes, it was overcast, but the coral was brown and there were very few fish. Surely there is a better introduction to the GBR than this stop. And perhaps everything else wouldn't have been as good if we hadn't been so disappointed in Fitzroy Island. Pre dinner cocktails every evening in the top lounge with a preview of tomorrow's activities and then to exquisite dinners in the dining room. Tonight it was a seafood buffet with bugs (AU lobsters), oysters, smoked salmon, heads on prawns, a fish similar to whole red snapper assorted salads and sides. Saturday we arrived at Nuggin Reef for scuba and snorkeling. I was the only certified diver which was awesome. Ricci, the dive master, and I had an incredible dive. Lots of fish and soft coral. The afternoon we anchored at Nathan Reef which was just as beautiful as the prior one. the engines started at 7 am and breakfast at Saturday we rose to a beautiful sunrise anchored in the Hinchinbrook Channel. We took a glass bottom boat tour through the mangroves looking for croks, dolphins, turtles, birds and other wildlife. Although there were none of the above, it was a beautiful tour and a nice diversion. I jut realized how much I've done and only touch on the trip. Needless to say, it was amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. There are beach bar bqs, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, great presentations on the reef and history, amazing people, fantastic food, unbelievable fish and soft corals snorkeling and diving. I couldn't have spent my 60th birthday in any better place with any better people. Thanks to my wonderful husband, Richard, and our new friends. But it is NOT for people with limited mobility. There are steep stairs that cannot be avoided. The activities do not require Olympians, but they do require good knees, hips and feet. Meals are about as good as they get on any large or small cruise line. The accommodations although smaller than large cruise ships are more than adequate with good storage. You only need a few bathing suits and shorts and casual shirts. A carry on is more than enough clothes. Suntan lotion of SPF 50 and insect repellent are provided. When you go to the beach, the crew sets up chairs and shade and brings water and drinks. Access to the water is unbelievably easy with the hydraulic lift for boat rides and snorkeling access. I would add this cruise to your bucket list. I crossed it off mine and couldn't be happier. The crew is outstanding. Eliza, purser, Evie, marine biologist, are the best - I miss you guys. Read Less

What a trip, unless you actually see it yourself you wouldn't believe it. Every day started off beautifully weather wise, company, staff and guides. Our cabins were very comfortable with plenty of room for both of us. Dinning room and lounges around our ship were comfortable and documentaries, screenings, videos, charades, hat making and talks were a treat and must say a little nap time for some after another wonderful day. Christoph, what a wonderful and pleasant chef, always with a smile on his face and what meals he provided us, and must say my steak was perfect. Now what a beautiful country we have, we had no idea just how beautiful an area we were sailing into, every single day was an eye opener and we were blessed with perfect weather. Going out in the explorer every day was an absolute treat, and having beautiful waterfall showers, and fresh water swim wow. Exploring everthing on a whole was more than we imagined possible and seeing is believing. One very exciting treat was going fishing in the explorer with Josh out of the 12 persons who fished almost all caught fish and quite a bit of excitement was had especially by me. Finishing our trip was sad as our trip was over but how bitter sweet it was to have all the crew there for our final farewell, and hugs as well. Home again and we have let our agent and everyone who has asked that telling them about our trip is never enough, and they should do the trip and see for themselves. Thankyou so very very much.
