Exceeded very high expectations
"The quality and organization of the onshore excursions was excellent, and when the inevitable issues arise (like the need to reroute on an excursion due to road closure) the staff handled it very well.I wish that there had been more ability to get onshore excursions because by the time we were allowed to sign up many were already full...."Read More

A nice cruise on a nice ship

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Viking Orion

This was my second Viking Ocean cruise so obviously I liked my first one. For reference, I would classify Viking as perhaps a rung below lines like Silversea and Regent, but above Oceania or Celebrity. This was my first visit to this part of the world, and generally it was an excellent cruise with a few hiccups here and there. I probably preferred my first Viking cruise to this one for a few ...

We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The service on board was uniformly excellent and the entertainment was superb. We had a spacious suite and a very attentive cabin staff. The meals in the specialty restaurants were excellent and inspiring and we were able to invite our friends to share the table with us on many occasions. The shore excursions were a mixed bag. Some had excellent tour guides who ...

This is our first time in a Viking Ocean Cruise and the experience was amazing. First, the number of passenger is not too big (less than 1000) which makes the trip more enjoyable. No lines in the buffet, no crowd in the major areas. The meal is outstanding in quality and variety. The staff is very nice and professional. The shows in the theater are excellent. There are shore excursions included in ...

I choose this cruise because of a good offer provided for it two years earlier and due to the good reviews Viking had been receiving. In addition to the the cruise, I signed up for the pre- and post-cruise packages. It turned out the excursion included in the pre-cruise package was a duplicate of one I already signed up for after boarding the ship, so I paid out of pocket for my own ...

We choose this cruise to travel with our friends who has mobility issues. Our first Viking Cruise and it more than met my expectations. The stateroom was excellent, our cabin service as well as the waitstaff and ship crew were all friendly, and went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. We had a few issues including an electrical fire in a stateroom on our deck the first day and a ...

Viking 15 day Auckland to Sydney

Excellent service throughout the cruise. DInner wait staff was very attentive. Food was always top notch. Room was cleaned twice daily by housekeeping crew. The smaller sized ship Viking utilizes allows for more personal attention and opportunities for the crew to meet or exceed your expectations for the cruise, be it food, drinks, or housekeeping. Although the Orion is scheduled for dry dock ...

This was a bucket list cruise, to see New Zealand and some of Australia. We enjoyed really good weather, even a little cook at times in NZ. The crew was excellent, from our cabin attendant to our wait staff in the dining room, to staff at every venue. They work so hard, yet always have a smile when you talk with them. The food most of the time was excellent, although a little bland at times. ...

The staff was great! Always greeted us with a Hello and a smile. Very helpful whenever asked. The entertainment was a lot better then on the river cruise. Graham the cruise director was the best! Food was absolutely fabulous!! Some of the best soups I have ever had. Most definitely should offer a cook book with the recipes from the cruise ships. The Orion ship was absolutely ...

Had enjoyed a Viking Ocean to Scandinavia in 2019, liked the small ship size, but not too small, no kids and no casino. This ship experience far exceeded my very high expectations. The food options were all consistently excellent. The variety of things to do on board was great, with interesting and varied talks, games, great entertainment, movies, great in room TV options. I wish that there ...

This was a very exciting trip. Great tours. Interesting lectures and great entertainment on board. The food was out of this world in all of the eating places. Comfortable bed and nice sized cabin. It was nice to be able to make reservations for the three restaurants that required reservations on board. One complaint I did have is that there were two many tables that were for two people only. ...
