1-10 of 9 Auckland to the South Pacific Family Cruises Cruise Reviews
My husband and I decided to join a friend on a five-week cruise on Crystal's Symphony. She gave it glowing reviews and we were excited about the trip from Auckland across the Pacific to Valparaiso. That dream soon turned to a nightmare, as explained toward the end of this review.
Let me start with the really great part: Crystal employees are devoted and loyal and give first-class service. This ...
Great itinerary but lack of on board activities, minimal cruise staff after cutbacks, and lack of live musical entertainment. Many of the activities in the program were actually revenue advertisements such as art auctions and spa promotions. The jazz trio (formerly known as "The Neptunes") and the solo guitarist/singer were sorely missed. Piano bar musician Stryker did a great job of keeping the ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary. The few issues on the ship that occurred were handled and resolved promptly which we appreciated. The staff was courteous and the food was good. Good variety of ports, however, the excursions were absurdly overpriced. We used outside tour companies that cost a fraction or we went on our own. Entertainment in the show room was the poorest we have experienced ...
We chose this cruise primarily for the itinerary - 9 ports in 14 days in both New Zealand and Southeast Australia. The ship is in pretty good shape for its age, but a little gaudy for our taste. Staff was very pleasant and ports were great, when the weather cooperated. We only signed up for one of the ship's excursions (due to the high price), but that excursion was very good (Melbourne). We ...
We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise it was perfect for our family or two older and two younger kids, there was something for everyone.
The people is what made the cruise, the staff were amazing, our room steward marvin was so awesome, we felt like we were leaving behind a friend.
The boat itself was not so great, on the ridiculously hot days the air conditioning in a lot of places was hotter ...
Good value overall, though looking back we wish we had done more research and looked at other ships and taken closer attention to the Ports.
Early on in the cruise we heard entertainment staff saying that of the last 12 cruises that have been scheduled to go to Norfolk Island, theyve only successfully docked there twice. ASccordingly the same thing happened to us. I have to wonder why they ...
This was to be my wifes and my third cruise with P&O Aus, after sailing on the Pacific Sun, we had a lot of advertising about a refurbished ship, even received a cardboard ship silouette that was scented and advertised as a new ship smell. My wife has mobility issues so opted for the wheel chair access, embarkation and disembarkation were both very efficient well done P&O, unfortunately it does not ...
Our cruise on the pacific pearl 30th December 2010 had finally arrived.
Excited... But upon Embarkation it all seemed Chaos. This we were told was normal.People handed papers to fill one health form from p&o one customs form. Trouble was no pens or very few tables to complete these required forms. Once aboard the pacific pearl we soon became delighted.
Until our luggage went missing. By ...
TRAVELLING ON "PACIFIC PEARL"
Who would have thought that after four decades of travelling by sea, and not meeting one person I knew, I take a short eight night cruise and meet up with many people who I knew by name or they knew me. And even more so to meet a girl I went through Primary School with and a guy whom I had not seen for 20 years.
That took place on Pacific Pearl which just ...
