Disappointed

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Explorer Dream

This cruise was our 1st cruise and reasonably short, but long enough to know if we would enjoy cruising. Being a Chinese owned ship, it was mostly Chinese workers where 1/2 of them would wear face masks (which made it very hard to understand someone with an accent let alone wearing mask also). Two of the three free restaurant were often full as they didn't sit people together!!!! We had a table ...

I was actually looking for a 12+ night cruise and I chose this cruise as it was going around New Zealand. I have travelled a fair bit of New Zealand by land and thought it would be nice to see some of the hard to get to places from the sea i.e. Gisborne, Dunedin, Milford. This was a re positioning cruise to Sydney. It was a 7 night cruise and I saw the following cruise went around Tasmania, so I ...

As promised, here I come with my detailed review of the Explorer Dream. On 2 Feb, we boarded the cruise at Auckland. We thoroughly enjoyed right from the time we checked in our luggage. Contrary to my doubts that there would be a long queue waiting for baggage drop, I was pleasantly surprised that there was hardly any que and the helpers were too quick to take my luggage from me. Then came the ...

This was our second 7 night cruise on board as we did the Sydney to Auckland 7 night cruise late last year. We are dismayed at some of the reviews in here , but each o their own I guess. Both cruises we enjoyed and we are seasoned cruisers and cruised all over the world. Some some degree you get what you pay for , but people need to remember this is not a standard western ship . It was ...

Cruise was around NZ. Excellent shows however not much else to say anything good about.Although while i think about it, the shower was good and the bed comfortable. Here are just a few random issues, not every complaint as I don't want to bore you just warn you. We (2 women) shared a cabin and had issues with the room attendant coming in to the room 2-3 times a day (that we knew about) ...

We wanted a short cruise before summer and thought we'd try this new cruise line. WE paid quite a lot for a balcony cabin but there was not much space in there. Embarkation etc was very quick, no problems at all. Staff were very friendly and plenty of staff available. Food was a definite weak spot. Most food was Asian, not to our taste, but the so called Western food was not good at all, in ...

Got what we thought was a good deal & really liked the itinerary. Unfortunately the times in port were very restricting for example we didn’t get ashore in Napier until 5.30 pm when most everything was closed & only had 90 minutes there. Dunedin & Wellington had to be back on ship really early. Complimentary food in MDR & Lido was just awful - stale bread, little choice, lukewarm or cold food, ...

Shambles from start to finish

The stateroom was awful. The bed was as hard as a rock, and the bathroom too small for me at 6'4". The TV didn't work. The soap dispenser is a tube you have to squeeze, which was painful with my arthritic thumbs. The wi-fi is not free and costs A$30 for the week. Even a grubby motel will give you free wi-fi. There are three restaurants included in the fare. The Pavilion Chinese restaurant ...

We have cruised the world many times but sadly never around NZ and the opportunity to sail around nz on Explorer Dream and visit the magnificent Milford and Doubtful sounds at a very good price for a balcony cabin seemed a good deal. Sadly the rooms are quite congested compared to say Princess cabins, the food - not bad in the sit down dining rooms but the Lido buffet area really congested and ...

My wife and I booked this cruise on impulse on a one day special. This ship normally operates in the Asian market The Ship had been recently upgraded and was overall good. Lacked a quiet lounge for reading, relaxing.and conversation. The ship has upmarket palace rooms, they have there own exclusive restaurants and pool area. The other cruises we've been on have the expensive rooms but ...
