This was our fourth Windstar trip. The 3rd on a sailboat. We love the informality of Windstar. If you are looking for a Seaborne experience with butlers and dressy evenings this is probably not for you. We loved the sail as we wanted to get an overview of the islands. Very nice cruise--great destinations, most notably smaller islands where big ships couldn't go.
Kusadasi was wonderful--dinner at Ephesus was spectactular; food utterly unedible, but setting and light chamber music was extraordinary.

The main problem with Windstar, confirmed many times over by other guests onboard, is that their office NEVER responds . If you have an issue, and you will have because they have some serious internal communication issues, forget reaching them by phone, email, mail, or fax. Yes, tried them all. This was a 30th anniversary / 60th birthday trip for my wife and I, and up to departure it seemed everything was going wrong. The original departure was Istanbul, then there was an airport bombing and a coup in Turkey! Windstar immediately moved the departure to Athens and issued us a flight credit. This was our second Windstar cruise and it did not disappoint. We had made reservations well in advance and noticed that the price was significantly discounted afterwards. After working with our travel agent, the company came through for us and gave us a refund and cabin credit for the difference. Very classy.

The new owners have spent time and money renovating the public areas and keeping the cabins up to standard. However there needs to be a lot more effort, time and money spent on the decks to get the ship sailing again.
