We chose this cruise because we had been on one that ended in Athens almost 2 years ago and my husband got sick (we were quarantined to the stateroom on our last day and missed the excursion in Athens). There was a special deal on the first 8 days of the 14 night Mediterranean Antiquities cruise, beginning in Athens and ending with disembarkation in Rome. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were at ...
My sister and I took this cruise because we both had wanted to go to Athens, and we had never done that. We are both over 80 years old and have mobility problems. On the boat, everything was fine. Shore excursions less so. We did not realize that there were enrichment and entertainment options, Our fault, we did not look at the daily briefings. We both wanted to go to Knossos, but the boat ...
Beautiful countries. Some wonderful excursions especially Montenegro. A couple stops were extremely congested. Dubrovnik and Corfu crowds were massive. We missed Santorini due to high winds. Staff and crew on Viking Star were great. Room steward Virginia was fantastic! Food on board and ashore was incredible. We would probably not repeat this itinerary but only because we would like to experience ...
We liked the venue: Athens to Venice. The accommodations were good. Cabin nice and clean. Balcony and pools were great. Food wasn’t what I expected is all. I’m not fond of cafeteria style. We ate at The Restaurant was good. As was The Chef table. Manifrdis was ok. The Explorer bar was our favorite! Great bartenders and view! We felt service was slow even with so many employees mulling around. Many ...
The cruise hit several locations we wanted to visit. We were glad we started in Greece then Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and went to Italy. We did extend our trip 2 days in Venice which was a must. The locations seemed to improve as we headed north. The food was outstanding and the daily wine choices were great. We should have taken more advantage of the onboard entertainment. The crew were ...
Wanted to try Viking Ocean after having enjoyed their river cruise but when the captain chose to not stop at Santorini due to high winds even though the Holland America ship did stop I decided that I would probably not choose Viking Ocean again. The rest of the cruise was more enjoyable and the service like on most cruise ships was superb. The ship was well laid out and our cabin was quite ...
We had never cruised and wanted a new experience. Also wanted to see homeland of my grandfather, Croatia.
Nice to be on a ship and never feel crowded. Food was good not as great as we were expecting. Food in specialty restaurants were just ok. The Restaurant was the best. We had very little time to use the pool and when we did have time there was no room with shade so we didn’t use. Understood ...
Viking ticks all the boxes with two minor exceptions (for my taste). I like to have a top sheet on the bed and Viking did not provide one, I think for the price, this is not a place to skimp. The only other issue we had was that the tours were crowded and the guides could not be heard on the audio devices because they would not be close enough.
The cruise itself was lovely, the food was ...
We had a wonderful experience on our first cruise with Viking. I'm sure we will at some point try one of their river cruises. The ports and excursions included with our Adriatic cruise were well selected and the logistics for each one of them was handled with ease. Dining at the various restaurants was a positive experience with ecellent service and good food offerings. The evening ...
My dream vacation after I retired was to visit my ancestors in Athens Greece. I shopped for a long time for the perfect itinerary. I knew I wanted a small ship with a veranda and no kids. I choose Viking for these reasons. I had no problem booking my trip, plus if you paid with echeck you got an extra three percent off. I flew in early so you need to find the ship on your own. Staff greeted us, ...
