Expected more activity on board and enthusiastic excursion guides

Viking shipboard service was impeccable. The included excursions did not always match their descriptions, especially the driving excursions. Some of the excursion guides seemed to lack training and enthusiasm which made the excursion below expectations. Viking food was okay, nothing special Twice menu items preselected for medical diet were unavailable because the wrong menu was ...

We chose this cruise because we've done 2 river cruises before and we enjoyed the Viking experience. Food on this cruise was fantastic. The ship was beautiful and well-kept. The evening entertainers at the theatre were excellent. Our cabin was exactly what we needed. The excursions were great. The scenery was beautiful. Now, I'll provide suggestions to make the trip better. For ...

Almost perfect, but not as great as our first Viking cruise in 2018

We made a poor decision to travel to Europe in the summer, partly because our preferred cruise to Buenos Aires was delayed by Covid for 3 years and we mistakenly believed Viking wouldn't refund our original payment. For that I can never forgive Viking. The cruise was basically fine and uneventful but seriously marred by extreme heat. Our first stop in Katakolon was a disaster - Viking should have ...

We took our first Viking Ocean cruise last year, and enjoyed it very much! We decided to book another ocean cruise this year, and since we've already seen the Western Mediterranean, we wanted to focus on part of the eastern half this time. We chose the cruise from Athens to Venice, and extended our time in Venice by two nights at the end of the cruise. As always, the food and service on-board ...

We chose the cruise because it went to Thessaloniki and Crete. Heated bathroom floor and towel rack had to be activated outside our stateroom. That's bad in summer. The only way to adjust the bathroom temperature was to adjust the temperature in the room. Most of the food was good. In the World Cafe, signs did not always match the food. Most serious was putting soft-boiled eggs under the ...

This trip was on my birthday bucket list and I have looked forward to this trip for many years! The ship is beautiful, restaurants excellent, food variety excellent, Chef Ivan's cooking class was fun, entertaining, and a good learning experience and staff was exceptionally responsive and always upbeat. Overall a great time with two exceptions: (1) our trip to Volos, Greece was disappointing ...

We went on a River cruise last year and it was perfect. The ocean cruise was great but it did not have the intimacy of the River cruise. The ship offered more - spa indoor pool and sauna several restaurants. It would depend on personal preference. For us we preferred the River cruise and the chefs talk nightly about his dishes and the focus on each ports culture. The week before the cruise I ...

Good cruise experience, but Viking's standards are slipping

We sailed onboard Viking Venus on 4th November 2022 for the 'Ancient Mediterranean Treasures' itinerary. We have sailed with Viking before (both river cruises and an ocean cruise), but I have to sadly report that Viking's high standards are slipping to make them comparable to cheaper cruise lines. Issues experienced were: 1) Poor service. On a daily basis we had to find waiters to serve us. ...

We chose this cruise because of some of the excursions offered. All were of particular interest to us. In order: 1) Athens, Greece: Acropolis, Agora, Athens Flea Market (saturdays), and all of the little but ancient Greek and Byzantine churches. We did not actually participate in the standard excursion but did "our own thing" while in Athens. The stay at the Athens Marriott was nice, the ...
