Viking is not my thing

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Saturn

Had the opportunity to cruise with Viking for the first time recently. We've done 21 cruises with most of the major players out there, and a few of the premium lines. Positives: - Very clean cabins with 2X day housekeeping - No cruisers under 18 years of age - Perfect sized ship - No upsell once on board - Embarkation / Disembarkation very easy - Decent selection of Video On ...

Ship, stateroom and staff were all great. For the cruise cost, other aspects of the experience were, in our view deficient. Our TV system was of such poor sound quality as to be inaudible and when reported it was clear that Viking had no more interest in a resolution than they do to responding to other constructive criticism. Food is generally quite good but not exceptional and some aspects are ...

My wife and I have sailed on many big-ship cruises and once on the Viking River longship. We decided to try the Viking Ocean cruise with the Included Airfare and pre- and post-cruise extensions. This review reflects our experiences onboard of the Viking Sky and other segments of our trip under the Viking care. • The best part of our journey was the 7 days on the Viking Sky. The ship itself is ...

We chose this cruise because of the ports visited that was on our bucket list for years. We sailed on the Viking Sea in 2019 and loved everything about the cruise. We had the same expectations after booking this cruise but we were immediately disappointed starting the first night on board. The food quality, selection, taste and presentation were lacking and mediocre at best. The food lacked ...

Viking has a lot of positive qualities, however, on this trip it was difficult/impossible to arrange dining and excursions with the other couple we were traveling with. This was very disappointing.

We had previously been on 4 Viking River cruises, one Viking ocean cruise and one Oceania cruise. We always traveled with friends and had a wonderful time. On this trip however, my deck 4 accommodations made it virtually impossible for me to schedule any meals or shore excursions with my friends. Even though I was supposed to be able to book two dinner reservations at the specialty restaurants, ...

The overall cruise was great but the food selections and cabin were not up to par for a Viking sailing. The World Café has many of the same items each night (side dishes, fillers, salads) and the selections for the main courses were limited. Also on the night they served lobster we ate in the restaurant but when they served the lobster it was "fishy". I ate one bite and that was it. We went to the ...

I chose this cruise as it was on sale. It was off season and I loved that. I thought there was a crowd as we toured but I learned that during the summer there were long lines. We had basically no waiting times and we were never packed in. The extensions with tours in Athens were great. We did almost all the things we wanted to do. In the Rome extension, they did have some things they provided but ...

I wanted what I thought would be the best so I thought I'd try Viking. Not for me. Geared for the Americans, we were the only British onboard and aghast at discovering no tea making facility in the cabin - not a good start. Great ship and crew. The cabin was great. Food not as good as expected, breakfast in the dining room, service was slow, cold plates were common. Fridge cold baked beans! I ...

A Very Ordinary Experience

This was our second Viking Ocean cruise and we have done multiple Viking River cruises. Although our first Viking Ocean cruise a few years ago was disappointing, we wanted to give Viking another try. Unfortunately, our low expectations were met on this cruise too. This was the first Viking Ocean cruise for the others we were traveling with and they were similarly "underwhelmed." The best part ...

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

Lack of bonhomie among most staff towards passengers, more interested in talking among themselves than interacting with passengers. We got blank stares when asking questions, sometimes a scowl at buffet, missing servers at stations. Felt like we were on training cruise. Entertainment people were lovely. They had many jobs, performed all well, among only ones on board who actually did. The spa ...
