This was our second Viking Ocean cruise and we have done multiple Viking River cruises. Although our first Viking Ocean cruise a few years ago was disappointing, we wanted to give Viking another try. Unfortunately, our low expectations were met on this cruise too. This was the first Viking Ocean cruise for the others we were traveling with and they were similarly "underwhelmed."

We sailed onboard Viking Venus on 4th November 2022 for the 'Ancient Mediterranean Treasures' itinerary. We have sailed with Viking before (both river cruises and an ocean cruise), but I have to sadly report that Viking's high standards are slipping to make them comparable to cheaper cruise lines.

We chose this cruise because we had always wanted to visit Greece and Turkey. This was our first Viking cruise, and we were so impressed with the level of detail in every regard and how perfectly everything was coordinated.

We boarded the Azamara Quest in Piraeus (Athens) and after we finally got onboard, we started to have a great time.

The ship has an airy, Scandinavian design with many lovely gathering spaces as well as plenty of spots where you can be all alone if you want to.
