I have cruised many times and even worked on cruises as a performer, so I really know what I like and dislike. The ship was beautifully clean and really looked the part. Rooms were large with lovely decor and well designed. Bathroom was great and loved the design of the shower doors - so practical. Dining room was beautiful and we had reserved private dining which was a real treat for my wife and I. This is something that you must pre-do before embarkment. Entertainment on board was enough and although we would have liked more gym equipment, we could not complain. Maybe a treadmill and fitness trainer could be added to make it perfect. It also would be nice if they had piped music on the sun deck so at night during our cocktail hour it would be a little more romantic, although it was lovely watching the Mekong and it's wonderful moonlight. Service is outstanding and shore excursions were excellent. One of our best cruises!!!!! Thank you Pandaw. Read Less

Our 15 days cruise started in Hong Kong; we made a tour along Vietnam (3 ports) and around Taiwan (3 ports) and then back to Hong Kong. Celebrity Millenium is a very nice ship (°2002), but it's well maintained, and very stable. Even in heavier weather with 5m waves, the ship cuts clean through the waves. Oceanview cabins are agreable. Our room attendant gave a very nice service. The captain showed up regularly, gave some presentations in the theatre, and was very accessible and sympathetic. But for people like us, who like French cuisine, the food was a disaster. For other people it was maybe mediocre (never 'delicious', sometimes looking good, mostly tasting bad, chewy steaks, greenish scrambled eggs, ...). Often it sounded right on the menu card, but sometimes it turned out to be something entirely different; they used a nice french name, and then they felt free to create a dish that does not even smell right. For example, when words like 'bisque' are used, you cannot throw in some fish in the soup, it should be prepared the french way. We wanted to 'celebrate' the new years evening countdown to 2018. What did we expect? - A deliceous dinner in the Metropolitan Restaurant - A big Sylvester Show in the Theatre - A nice dance evening in the Rendez-Vous lounge What did we get? - The delicious dinner was a disaster (several people had to send their plates back because of almost uneatable, like the lobster bisque, the salmon mousse and the orange duck). - There was no big New-Year's Show, instead the show was a female singer (although very good) but nothing like the big broadway shows that they dis on some other days (with the Celebrity Singers & Dancers). Bad timing regarding what show to bring when. - Later, while we were dancing in the Rendez-Vous lounge, suddenly the band stopped playing from 11:50 until 12:05, so we missed the whole countdown experience, the kissing and the wishing. Explanation was that the 'official' countdown was at the foyer, and that all the rest was secondary (and therefore aborted). At 12:30 a DJ would then continue in the ugly Cosmos lounge on deck 11. Thanks, but no thanks. Overall the staff was very friendly, and they offered a very nice service. Only the Cruise Director (responsible for entertainment) had no feeling for how and what to organise on which day: Chrismas went by unnoticed. On some days he organised 'silent dancing' where people were 'dancing' with headphones (choice of 3 channels), unable to communicate to each other while doing so, and not on a dance floor but on the carpet of the foyer. Celebrity maybe again, but surely not for Sylvester. Read Less

We took this cruise as we wanted to away for Christmas and New Year, cannot understand the bad reviews, must be very unhappy people and miserable in their lives. We had a great time and especially on Sea Day, I was running from one to event to another. Ate most nights in the Main Dining, and sometimes for lunch and Breakfast rather than the buffet, you eat better and have less on your place rather than the buffet, plus better relaxed atmosphere, rather than searching for a table and the waiter to bring you your drinks. We did select dining and met amazing people every night. The shows were very good quality Uk West End or New York Broadway quality. Most of the shore excursions were good, perhaps I did not do enough research to the finer details, but they were as described, just I perhaps was not so interested, next time I will do my research. All in all we found the staff very good, our cabin boy was great and we have no complaints Read Less

Greatly recommend to those who are keen to go for a cruise managed by a poor management who always put on an "unhappy" face on all their cruise with no proper instructions given and when questions were raised by their guest to their crew, the standard reply was "I don't know, please check with another crew.". Also if you do not wish that the crew to enter your cabins, do remember to put the "Do Not Disturb" sign at your door as our room was entered multiple times for no particular reasons even though we didn't call for housekeeping and we realised that our laptop had been touched ( as we left room for a short time to attend their concert, we left our laptop open and when we were back, it was closed and the whole room was pitch dark - even side table lights were offed. ) When asked to the information counter, they said we didn't put "DTD" thus the crews can enter and leave anytime they like. Toilets were filled with moulds at bathing area, beds were stained with black stains even after a housekeeping session done.. Smoke can be smelt along the corridor of the cabins, insufficient kettles available as well. The adapter given by the crew had sparks coming out from it when it was plucked it and when asked for an exchange, the crew said that they ran out of it. Long queues during meal times and there was no one controlling the crowd nor guiding the passengers. Ice cream stall only open for 1 meal throughout the 5 days of cruise. Speciality restaurant does not offer all indicated food items and we were not told before we sat down for our meal. Waste of money. There is 3 eating area for the passengers, however, only 2 is available as 1 is converted to "FOR SUITE" passengers only. We purchased the non-alcoholic beverage package but the crew would keep on telling us that the non-alcoholic drinks are not included and we had to pay extra (don't buy package as they don't honour it). No proper lightings near the swimming pool where some kids are found running in dark as well which is very dangerous. Entertainment were the same for the 5 days. Poor management on disembarkation and embarkation as well as no proper direction nor instructions given, announcement system is also not clear. Overall, its a waste of money and time, both my partner and I are very displeased with the service provided, management control, experience, condition of the cabin and the embarkation and disembarkation process. This is not our first time cruising on a cruise liner but it will be the first time and LAST TIME cruising with COSTA VICTORIA. Read Less

We choose cruise for destinations and locales We looked forward to an exotic cruise with lots of new sites and sounds. The destinations were disappointing especially since the tours were very expense, misrepresented and very disappointing. Ac,tivities on the ship were underwhelming and poorly timed during meals or land days. Big focus was for passengers to upgrade and spend money. Drink packages, WiFi , speciality dining, Upgraded room service, Even water for tours. Very few Americans , focus was on Asian customers. Price for cruise very reasonable, but travel costs are very high to get there and cruise Is very short 5 Days. RCL felt like NCL in their focus of getting guests to spend money on all activities on and off the ship. They should be more like their sister brand Celebrity to make the cruise more enjoyable. Nice cabin but engine nosies in Jr Suites make nights very uncomfortable. Food mediocre. Upgrade for a steak at dinner????? Rethink the brand...... Read Less

Do not go on Star Clippers if you need pampering or entertaining. It is all about the ship, which is beautiful in itself but when under sail transcends the ordinary. Siting on deck at night, under the stars with a drink and the "one you love" is worth every penny and all the effort of getting to our pick up point in Phuket. As has been said in other reviews, the food is excellent but the entertainment officer is painful and the state of much of the deck furniture is poor. The officers appear lack lustre and oblivious to guest comfort and in some cases safety. I had to report two of the young entertainment staff for cross tanking petrol for the speed boat on deck whilst a party was going on a few feet away. Shore excursions were average but interesting if you found your own way, which is easy in Thailand and Malay. Again the crew appear to wash their hands of passengers when ashore, quite unlike Windstar their competition. It is what it is, we have sailed on Royal Clipper which is even more awesome as a ship but the Teutonic disdain for the passengers is the same. Read Less

We did three consectuive sailings I think though because we were in a suite we didn't need to line up embarkation was super smooth Priority access boarding for suites guests, Pinnacles, Diamond Plus, Diamond, Emerald and Platinum. Gold cards holders could eat at the Coastal Kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you wanted to at no extra charge. Silver card holders could use the Coastal Kitchen for evening Meals. This is a brilliant restaurant with waiter service and everything is cooked freshly for you The Windjammer is very busy but had some nice options. We ate at the Hot Pot twice excellent, Jamies Italian three times excellent, Izumi great choices and Wonderland was great. Disembarkation at the ports was great as well with the conceige escorting you off and back onto the ship. The conceige lounge on deck 12 aft was a littele oasis as well as the Spa I beleive if you are not in a suite you would be pushed and shoved quite a bit. We loved the entertainment and found that most of the shows were in English The cruise Director Kris was hysterical and his assistant Bonnie was absolutely great. We booked a local guide in Shangahi with China Tours also in Nagasaki we found this invaluable and they took us to non tourist places as well We went on the bullet train from Yatsushiro to Kumamoto which took 11 mins a great experience. This was to be an Anniversary Cruise. Dubai to India The ship looked great on the outside but inside no WOW FACTOR to greet us nothing like the brochure. It looked tired and dated. The cabins were kept immaculate and the crew worked hard to keep the ship clean clean. The crew were very friendly and cheerful The elevators one of the best bits It was rated as 5* but a 3* was about its limit. Not really a Christmas cruise very low key not what was expected. Poor overall Christmas Decorations one Gingerbread Village in reception and in general dining and a few Christmas Trees and lights The food was adequate but not exceptional in the Ocean View Dining room. Selected Dining was better. The waiters worked very hard. We didn't use the specialty restaurants We had the drinks package and this worked well also the on board spending was ok but the shops were expensive as were the trips. We did our on thing at the various ports. India was very hot and a great experience the train ride was awesome though for this outing we went on paid trip. It was one of the cheapest! It was difficult to find a quiet spot but we did. The roof top for evening cinema under the stairs had too many steps to reach it as I a stiff back. Plenty of towels available loungers could be a problem. The "solarium" salt pool was lovely. Many passengers got nasty coughs due to the air conditioning I believe including my husband. The theatre put on some good shows and the resident band was excellent the Cruise Director tend to be annoying but worked hard . Ashlie Amber the Whitney Huston act was Fantastic. We made the most of the holiday BUT the visa procedure was a nightmare at the 3 Indian ports of call.Indian officials not at all friendly. Our flight with Emirates home was delayed 5hours due to engine trouble as taxied and to cap it all our luggage was left in Dubai when we had a new plane. We did get a lovely suntan Read Less

Embarkation from Singapore was a little slow, arrived at the pier at 12 noon and didn't board until 145pm. Cabin was ready straight away and luggage was waiting for us at our door. Cabin D307 Dolphin Deck 9. We met our cabin steward straight away James, he was wonderful. Cabin was a Mini Suite Balcony. Loverly cabin well worth the extra $$$. It was spacious and a great layout the balcony was large. Then it was Full steam ahead at 5pm. Went dinner at the international restaurant. Food was good quality and well presented never cold. We also ate breakfast in the restaurant as we didnt like the noise in the Buffet Horrizon Buffet. Entertainment was great and the shows well Choreographed. Ports of call Kota Kinabalu,Phu My. Nga Trang, Sihanoukville, Bangkok and unfortunately KO Samui was missed due to Tender Issues. All ports were good but remember it is Asia and its hot and most places are under developed and still very new to cruising. You'll be jumped on by touts as soon as you get off the ship. Make sure you barter for everything, especially taxi and tour fares. Back to the ship... There was plenty of things to keep you occupied whilst on board. From bingo, trivia, shopping, casino or just relaxing by the pool close to you favourite Bar (plentyof them). Cocktail prices were 7-12 US$ but in the wheelhouse bar between 3-4pm it is happy hour. By one drink get the 2nd for $1. Overall it was a good trip but very packed as it was christmas and to many Kids. Read Less

Celebrity and the Millennium and it crew are one of the best. I have never been disappointed with Celebrity and love Cruising with them. The service is superb, great entertainment and the excursions were fantastic. I will of coarse be cruising again with Celebrity on one of the four millennium class ships they have. The meals in the Dinning room are first class meals thereby eliminating the need for the specialty restaurants. All the excursions were well planned out and organized with experience staff and guides. Some of the excursions we took had lunch provided so that we could experience the flavor of the local culture and food. The weather was a bit touchy a couple of the days due to a tropical depression we had to sail through, a little rough at times, but it didn't really affect us. Captain Leo and his bridge crew kept us as calm as possible. Captain Leo was fantastic, he was very personable and was always around the ship talking to the guests. We loved it. Read Less

We have Elite Status on Celebrity which says, we are fans! Our previous Celebrity Cruise was on the Millennium as well... Vancouver to Japan. We were on Concierge level which, to be honest, is not worth the extra. Friends were on Aqua and were raving about it, We had wanted to even see the Blu restaurant and even the Concierge couldn't arrange it. WE found a 'deal' on Aqua for this cruise so booked it. Loved the shower. Tried to get some good non-allergic pillows. The first one was like a brick. The 2nd was like a dishrag. I wrote a comment to the Accommodations Manager but received no comment back. The room attendant tried his best but to no avail. The food in Blu was good... but nothing outstanding... I sent back a rack of Lamb that was raw... and on another occasion a steak that was tough. My wife returned a chicken breast that was so tough she couldn't cut it. SECRET: you can order off the regular dining room menu... or virtually anything else ... so just ask. It was nice to have the same Cruise Director and the same Captain Club manager plus the amazing Tina as Musical Director. The best part of the cruise was a result of logging into Cruise Critic's Roll Call. Jon had arranged the rental of a 10-cabin Junk for Halong Bay. Ziggy had arranged a 2-day tour in Bangkok. Penny had arranged some other day tours in Vietnam. All we needed to do was send money! Check out the Roll Call on your next trip!!! Read Less

SHIP: We are cruising since almost 10 years and take at least 2 cruises per year. So far we have tried Oceania Cruises (Marina-PH2 Suites), HAL (Koningsdam-Vista Suite), MSC (Aurea Suites) and TUI Cruises (Junior and Captain Suites) on several occasions. This has been our first cruise with Celebrity Cruises and we have been very insecure prior starting our vacation due to so many negative reviews here. We have received a very good offer with all 4 „perks“ included (all inclusive premium drinks package, pre-paid gratuities, unlimited internet access for 2 and a shipboard credit of USD 300,-/cabin) and decided to try Celebrity as we wanted always to discover South East Asia… After all we would state, that this cruise has been by far the best „suite life“-experience we have enjoyed so far on a cruise ship. We always have been treated like king and queen from any staff member on board (No matter of cabin category you have been booked in!). They all work so hard every single day and still have a smile on their lips… Despite the MILLENNIUM is an old ship (the oldest within the fleet of Celebrtity Cruises) she is still very nice and very very clean. Despite several refits there are still some occasional signs of aging, but the ship is still very well looked after. The signs of age are mostly shown in cabins (bathrooms, furnishings, balcony railings) and in SOLARIUM/ Persian Garden area where there are some new and very pretty lounge furnishing, but the covered pool has plenty of rust spots and the glass dome seemed very old and not cleaned for a longer time. The sauna area is not up to date, the Persian Garden is inside without any window… Restaurants, bars and public areas in general are stil very nice. Do not let this minor unperfections spoil your vacation! Even on newer ships like MS Marina (Oceania cruises) and MS Koningsdam (HAL) there are several rust spots… Even in our home not everything is perfect! DINING: Dining has been one of the highlights of our cruise on one side and the cabin and the itinerary/ ports of call itself on the other side. As suite guests we have been allowed to dine at the LUMINAE Suite class restaurant, which has been open on each day for breakfast and dinner and on seadays also for lunch. The restaurant is very elegant (furnishings seem the same on all Luminae-Restaurants fleetwide). The Menu has a very limited choise of 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 3-4 desserts, but you can choose as many courses (including entrees) as you would like to and in the event of missing anything you can order a la minute and they will make their best efforts to refill your wish. You can also order any course from the Main Dining Room (MDR)/ Metropolitan Menu. The quality of food has been extraordinary and offered a wide choise of meat, fish and vegetarian foods. We are foodies and really liked the cuisine. In our opinion the LUMINAE restaurant stands above even the specialty restaurants on Oceania Cruises and even Pinnacle Grill on HAL. We have even got one of the best soufflés so far on a cruise ship. The wine list has been quite large and we could enjoy or favourite wines: Austrian Grüner Veltliner and Riesling (for white) and Burgundy and Bordeaux (for red ones). Our another favorite venue has been the CAFE AL BACCO AND GELATERIA with the fresh italian coffee and small suite delights (complimentary if you order a drink) in the early morning and afternoons. The AQUA SPA CAFE has offered a good choise of heathly food, breads and fresh juices and smoothies. On 2 nights we have tried the QSINE and have found the food to be quite good, but the focus has been mainly on the different/ unconventional kind of presentation. Our favorite dish has been the Mediterian delights (thought too big portion). The waitress GORDANA from Macedonia has been a real treasure and provided a merorable service. One night we ate at TUSCAN GRILLE, but neither the food nor the provided service met expectations, so we have cancelled the pre-booked second visit (Celebrity have refunded payment immediately!). As suite guests we had complimentary access to MICHAEL´S CLUB LOUNGE with the concierge service desk (Rhiannon Lewis has been so helpfull on several ocasions) and the afternoon High Tea Service on each day. We have never ate at the self-service OCEANVIEW CAFE & GRILL, so can not make any comment on this venue. The open air terrace at the back seemed quite nice however… CABIN: On this cruise we have booked a CELEBRITY SUITE (CS 6104) on deck 6. The cabin has offered a great location midst of the ship without any noise disturbances from other cabins (sometimes we could hear the neighbours from the sky suite beside banging the wardrobe shelfs in and out). This cabin type is a real suite, as you have a large separate living room with large dining area, entrance hall and a separate bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom. While the living room is very bright with the large window front going around the entire living room front, the bedroom is complitely dark as laying inside. For us this was perfect, as we are very light sleepers and enjoyed to have a complitely dark bedroom. The dining table has been large enough for up to 4 people and we have regulary enjoyed our breakfast in the suite. The biggest disappointment with the room was however the bathroom. Comparing to the rooms size and layout this seems quite small and old. The height/ entrance in to the bath is quite high and very difficult for ederly people, this becase a real issue… Also there is no socket/ electricity layout in order to connect an electrical device/ toothbrush etc. We had to order an extendable cable which has been provided immediately. The furniture itself is old and needs replacement, but still good in shape and clean. The balcony infront of the living room is quite narrow, but of good size with 2 chairs, a food step and a small table. SERVICE: As mentioned previously we have been very satisfied with all crew members on board! They all made our holidays to become a great experience and we can only confirm Captain´s Leo words: we have welcomed you as foreigners, but will say good bye to you as good friends. Our maitre in Luminae NATASHA from Macedonia has been a great person and soo freiendly, as well MILLA (somellier) and all the waiters… After few nights they all knew our Names, prerefed table and drinks… We could not await it to return every evening to our restaurant…Our butler RAMIR has been the best we had so far on a sea and has been so helpfull on any occasion. One day we have decided to carry out a party in our suite for some other fellow passagners who became friends on board and Rhiannon (concierge) and our butler have beed so great of providing some canapes, sweets and drinks for all 12 people! This service has been for free! Thank you! Our suite manager Denny Flores and his spanish collegue from Alicante (sorry forgot her name) have been also very helpfull after an issue with the bathroom access and have even done a very nice poresent for our next cruise with Celebrity. The guest Relations Manager ALANA from South Africa has even refunded us the costs for our private visas in Vietnam (more than USD 175,-), as this has been caused due to wrong informations from their sale office/ representatives in Austria/ Germany. Our suite attendant has kept the suite always tidy and clean. ENTERTAIMNET: The cruise line show productions have been almost all good and we have especially enjoyed their guest entertainers on board, especially the young singer lady from Jamaica who is living in Japan and as best the Celebritys exsclusive british signer lady JAYNE CURRY with her great voice(not many songs but all of them san great!) and british humor! SPORT/ SPA: The fitness room is surprisingly big and offers a large number of fitness equipment in some hours the room could become quite croudy, but in general you could always make a good workout. The PERSIAN GARDEN area is quite dark, as laying inside; we found the sauna and changing rooms and showers to be quite old and the SOLARIUM covered pool need some attention. The sunloungers at the Solarium are quite new and comfy. Celebrity shall refit this area when ship is in dry dock next time. SHIP EXCURSIONS: As on every cruise line all offered ship excursions are quite expensive, so we have done all of them on our own. The airplane scenic flight in Halong Bay was just 1/3 of the price we have been asking from the cruise line for example! RECOMMENDATIONS: We can recommend the MILLENNIUM SHIP to any cruisers looking for a cruise in style with superb food and great service provided from any crew member! We definitely consider cruising again with Celebrity on one of their Millennium Class ships and for sure with the bigger Solstice-Class ones. According to the infos provided on bord all ships fleetwide will undergo a totally refurbishment by the end of 2020 in order to bring them all to tho the new EDGE-Class level… Read Less

We were on the Journey from Singapore to Hong Kong. We spent one day in Singapore as we had been there before so we did a lot of walking and checked out Orchard Rd since we did not visit the last time. Very clean city and safe for walking about. Embarkation was easy and on board quickly. Our cabin was 8036 and found the refurbishment to rooms beautiful. We ate most dinners in specialty restaurants and food in Aquilinia was good but repetitive in their specials. All food on board we found to be very salty as opposed to our last cruise on Quest. Service was excellent and they were dealing with health precautions. Entertainment is not their strong suit but Eric's show was outstanding and the Christmas show was a hoot, much appreciated the light tone from someone that is Jewish. The weather was difficult in some areas with very rough seas and the captain kept people informed and adjusted departure to help avoid storms this was an excellent effort. Loved each port in this cruise that we did independent tours other than taking their Angkor Watt overnight. It was very hot but worth the trip and happy I did it in the short time as it was enough. Our favourite was Halong Bay as we gathered 12 people from CC and had a Dragon boat tour into the back Bay Area for 8 hours and a gourmet lunch, very memorable. Hong Kong is a city we visit often so we explored on our own. Would do this cruise again but only on a small ship. It was a great way to celebrate my 65 th birthday. Read Less

We choose this cruise to see the places in Japan and to link it with our extended holiday and to have a very special occasion which is my daughter's wedding ceremony on this cruise. Although the majority passengers were Chinese and they have shown limited regard for personal space, consideration of others and privacy, the services and entertainment onboard Quantum of the Seas were an absolute disgrace. It reminded me on the different "Classes" when traveling by train. The food in the Windjammer buffet was always not hot or cold but room temperature, glasses and cups limited and very dirty. As usual the lack of tables and chairs in the buffet. Entertainment and shows were not in English which is the international accepted language of communication. Other entertainment was non-existing or fully booked. Only one show session per evening. As for the wedding ceremony, the facility was booked but nothing done to make it special. The photographer had no idea of ensuring his camera is nin focus when taking photos for such an important occasion. (this was the whole purpose of our cruise - we were a group of eight adults) Trying to book dinners etc, was not that easy. But thanks to the staff, they made it possible to have a laugh all the time for us! Embarkation and disembarkation were total failures. Disembark 3 hours late due to unexplained reason. Cost us extra to have our our train tickets Changed in Shanghai. RCI will not refund that, nor will my travel insurance, both just passing the ball... No theme nights on the cruise. Read Less

All our local guides in every ports were super, excellent. Its small cruiseship but seem huge spaces.. The design, interior is excellent. Everywhere in the ship is clean, except the public toilet kind of no goed smell. I thought it was just my sensitive nose but more than few people complained about it. We loved the itinerary and the tours were wonderful (except Malaysia but that was because the ship had a mechanical problem so we didn't get to Malaysia in time for any good tours). My cabin steward was excellent - the best ever - Robert on the 10th deck. Embarkation and disembarkation so very smooth. That was the pro's. Now for the con's - the ship is in dire need of restoration - our air conditioning didn't work well at all - we had it at the very coolest level and we still were too warm. The dining room staff in the Pacific Moon were for the most part not very good. It seemed that they were not happy with their jobs and it showed in their service. No one ever came and asked how we were doing during the meals like they used to. On this ship they acted like it didn't matter how they treated us because they were going to get the tips anyway. No real incentive to serve. The most disappointing thing was that only once did they have good dance music where there was a dance floor. There was a wonderful piano player and singer who played near the piazza most nights and we would have loved to dance to his music (the last night there was a group of us that did end up dancing in the aisle and really enjoyed it). He also did play one night at the Wheelhouse (where he should have been most of the time as for the one and only time the dance floor was filled with dancers). Also the other piano player played one night at the Wheelhouse and my husband and I were the only ones dancing because people had given up on finding a good dance place. On our other cruises the Wheelhouse was always the place to go for good dance music and it was always filled with people. That was my biggest disappointment as that is one of the things I always look forward to. Also disappointed that there were no Enrichment Lectures like they usually have. (Do not like all the shopping lectures). Also the accounting for our bills were terrible (I had gift vouchers and yet I was always charged for the item and then had to spend so much time in long lines to get it right - the long lines were because it was happening to everyone. Also when I got home I have a charge on my card for $600 more than what my bill was and now I have to call and try to get that straightened out. On the Pro side - the CS people were very sweet and understanding. The food was not as good as previous cruises. I heard that the ship has been chartered out to a Chinese company and if that is true then that would explain why it didn't measure up to all of our other Princess Cruises. In closing - even though there were many cons - the itinerary made it one of our most favorite cruises. We had never been to Asia and we loved it so we did come home delighted with our vacation. We chose this cruise for its itinerary, which ended with the F1 . The check in was chaotic, but once on-board that was soon forgotten. Our cabin was at the rear of the ship with a large balcony, this was ideal for our cruising through the Suez canal, offering panoramic views. My personal opinion is that some excursions were over priced but I know others on-board were happy with them. Entertainment was good and varied. No problems with the sunbed but think that was more down to the demographics of passengers. We enjoyed the dining in the main dining room and requested the same location every night as we had an amazing waiter. On previous Celebrity cruises we've struggled to find somewhere to sit at Cafe Al Balcio, this time we never had a problem and enjoyed a coffee while watching the world go by. Would highly recommend this itinerary. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the sailing dates fitted in perfectly for us to celebrate the 50th birthday of my wife, it had been booked for 1 year in advance. We arrived at the terminal to get on the ship at our allotted time only to discover that a block booking of about 700 had turned up early resulting in queues everywhere, but we could live with that we had a holiday to look forward too. We had read reviews in advance about the ship but that didn't bother us much as cruising is subjective. All i can say is the ship is indeed tired in a lot of places, rust on a lot of outside areas the ship just needs a lot of TLC.If you had never cruised before it would be fine but if you have the newer ships blow the Millennium out of the water,Celebrity need to take this vessel out of service asap (i believe it goes in for a refit in the next year or so) or charge accordingly ie tired old ship should mean cheaper price? Having to share a cruise with a block booking which was a free holiday for them all was no fun. From them all mobbing the oceanview cafe and them touching the food and then leaving it for someone else to pick up i found revolting, to sitting on the stairs in large groups is ignorant and a safety hazard for other passengers.Maybe in future Celebrity should do the right thing and let all the fare passengers know that they are sharing the ship with people that are on a block booking. In booking this cruise we wanted to see places we hadn't seen before, at no point does it tell you on the Celebrity website that some of the ports are a 3 hour roundtrip to the city or place you are visiting, maybe that should be on the website? The tours that are sold onboard are average at best you can easily do your own deals with a taxi for a tour at most places for a fraction of the price,Manilla is a perfect example you can walk from the boat to most places but Celebrity charge a lot for driving around the block a few times to make it look like a tour. For a vacation that was booked 1 year in advance for i feel this cruise was very average its like staying in a Hotel that 20 yers ago was a 5 start but over the years is now a 3 star but they are still charging 5 star rates. In saying all of this the staff onboard are the best that we have seen compared to other cruise ships, they always smile and are a credit to the ship. Celebrity must do better. Read Less

We were on the 15 day cruise Oct 26 - Nov 10. Chose this cruise as our 25th Anniversary celebration. Despite not getting to ports which is understandable because of weather. But the Captain of the ship was extremely unprofessional by coming over the loudspeaker and threatening that people would be thrown off the ship when we arrived in Hong Kong and calling them a group of “hyena’s and stupid” people. Even last day while commending his staff, for the situation earlier in the cruise mentioned “stupid” people again. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! Besides not getting to ports for uncontrollable reasons, one port that we got to was a complete disaster. People that weren’t scheduled for tours got off the ship before us. Don’t know how that was possible. Our tour was scheduled for 2:45pm and we left at 4:25, by the time we got to the castle it was getting dark and it was under construction so no beauty in that. Then off to a shopping area, arrived at only 7:15, where everything was closing at 8 except restaurants... most of us took taxis back to the ship. So disappointing! The food was also disappointing this time, the buffet was repetitive and not a lot of choice, maybe it is because it is a smaller ship or the fact that they were catering more to the Japanese clientele. The food in the main dining area was average a lot of times lacked flavour and the “Princess Favorites” were all Japanese choices. Our waiters were very good, but never once did the maître’d come and ask us how our meals were. There were a lot of people complaining about the quantity of food (for me it was fine) but even the waiters would say to us we can order you more if you would like when placing our meals in front of us. Also, bring back anytime dining 5:30 is too early and 7:45 to late. Entertainment was subpar sometimes very amateurish. People would walk out of them. Scheduling was also not very good as they would be at 8pm when you just sat down to dinner, sometimes went to the early show but it wasn’t convenient either. The onboard entertainment was also not what we have been used to in the past. No poolside entertainment, too much art auctions, junk on sale or things to do that would cost extra money. The cruise director was non existent except at the shows, but the cruise staff were very friendly and entertaining. Princess needs to step up with their entertainment and get creative if they want to compete with the other cruise lines. Disney, RCCL, and NCL have great shows! We had a balcony cabin that was spacious and our stateroom host was excellent, no disappointments there! Still made the best of out of lemons and made lemonade to have a good time and meet some really nice people too! Read Less

Very nice ship, fitted out well, plenty of eateries and bars, but the allowable dress code, was appalling. I understand people like to relax and unwind, but there is a time and place, where you need to make an effort and night time dining, is that time. Far too many people, rocking up in board shorts, singlets and thongs and expecting to be allowed entry to the Dining Rooms. We are not snobs by any means, but we do like to make an effort and dress appropriately, when we enter and are served a meal, in the ships main dining room. You want to dress and act like rednecks, then go to the Buffett. We did notice that waiter service, in the bars and dining areas, appeared to be cut back a little, compared to other ships. The food on board was very good, but we have experienced better on other Cruise Lines. Staff were very good, as we have found on other ships, but lacking in numbers on this ship. All the on board venues, both dining and entertainment, could have used some additional staff also, but on the whole, our cruise was good. The main theatre entertainment on this ship was exceptional and probably the best we have seen throughout our 15 cruises so far. The smaller bars provided reasonable music, but nothing you would write home about. Cruise Director and staff were always mingling with the passengers and available to answer questions. The Captain and ship's officers were seen to be walking around the ship daily and always speaking with the passengers. We joined the ship in Papeete and the whole process of getting on board, seemed to take forever, but this may have been the first time, a ship has embarked hundreds of passengers here and the facilities were just not up to task. Disembarking in Sydney was fine without any problems. As stated above with minor grievances set aside, I would recommend this ship for future cruises, if your happy to hang out in your shorts and thongs all day, then this is the cruise line for you. We have sailed on this Ship before and enjoyed it very much. The start of our Cruise was a nightmare we waited forever to get on board then one of our suitcases was not delivered to our cabin and was held because we had a opened bottle of Gran Marnia which they took of us we were not impressed as we spent 5 days in Singapore and thought we could bring it with us, while checking our bag a luggage trolley slammed into my husbands back so I think it is important that you put breaks on these trolleys it took so long for all this very upsetting day and we missed everything that night including the show. The breakfast next morning was hard to find something decent the boiled eggs were green, the bacon was all fat, scrambled eggs I am sure we're powdered and un eatable, the yogurt yuk. Some of the entertainment was crap especially the late show I don't know where you got him from, the restaurant food was fine except for most of the meat very grissely. I think the drinks could be cheaper. The cabin boys are wonderful. The photos are too expensive. The tours are much to expensive. As for getting a seat near the pool it's impossible because people posses them all day even if they don't use them. I do miss the chocolate on my pillow. I do miss a inside movie theatre. Some movies on TV would be nice. Apart from all this because we love cruising we still had a great time. Read Less

This was my first cruise on the Voyager of the Seas ,I cruised in the past with RC mainly on their Oasis class so I did not know what to expect , the reviews here did not helped much to reduce my worries. I want to say my worries were for nothing , this is a big ship well maintained , I did a lot of tours over the ship and could not find many places that the ship "show its age" even comparing to the new RC ships (my last cruise was on the Harmony of the seas). So we really enjoyed this ship and for shore the ports it brought us to. There are also some downsides for sure : On the first two days there were many queues mainly to the shore excursions and guess services, I guess people did not planned ahead and book them online , Regarding the guest services , they could have done better job by adding more people to the desk (there was a long line and not all the station where manned). I heard some people at the beginning of the cruise saying the name of the ship should changed to "Queues Of the Seas). but after the first two days the queues gone. The food was good , although we mainly were eaten at the buffet we went to Giovanni table once and it was excellent. The port we went to were very interesting. The entertainment was good but disappointing comparing to the previous ships I was cruising with , but again I was cruising mainly with the Oasis class that had Broadway productions and the aqua show. My husband I wished to combine our leisure time and visit parts of the world together we would not otherwise have an opportunity of reaching and this, my first ocean cruise seemed the ideal way for us doing just that......but sadly despite investing a large amount of our hard earned finances and holiday time this proved not to be the special trip we had looked forward to for so long........all Hughly disappointing and time/money wasted we will not get back. Upon reading this review you will realise that things just got worse as the trip went on starting in the terminal where we arrived via arranged transfers bringing us there 6+ hours ahead of when the ship arrived so this meant we were summarily deposited at a shopping mall for the intervening time and apparently like many other passengers acquired Middle Eastern Respirstory Syndrome (a version of Hong Kong flu) for our troubles. upon return to the terminal the boarding process of ~ 3000 people was chaotic to say the least and disorganised at best having a likening to a rugby scrum at times rather than an orderly boarding procedures. Once on the ship we were sent to dinner and this turned out to be the sole time our evening meal in the dining room actually had us sharing with any other guests as our designated table of an evening ( with 6 places only had us at it and we were made to feel like the spare parts at a wedding as waiting staff continually came and went from our table picking up missing cutlery, glasses, etc. - all not very pleasant). The food in the dinning room was never better than Luke warm and the optimum disregard for culinary care was exhibited the evening Luke warm scallops were served to everyone as a starter! Interestingly the following morning the captain announced a coincidental outbreak of a second notifiable disease , this time a gastrointestinal one (Nora virus) and reminded everyone to minimise spread by washing their hands and using the hand sanitising stations which were strategically placed throughout the eating establishments onboard. To be fair if we had not invested at additional expense in the dine around package for the specialty restaurants ( which we eat in x3 times each) we would had an even worse experience. I am not going to say much about the room service but suffice to say cold porridge is not my idea of a suitable quality of sustenance to start a busy day’s site seeing with.....as for the a la carte breakfast ...where do I start; chipped glass and congealed uncooked food I would not have fed to the dog that took more than and hour to reach us on one occasion and nearing 2 hours on another...the buffet was marginally better although you were always “herded” together with others. This ship was at sea for 6 of the 10 day voyage and despite this being the case the cleanliness of the open spaces on decks 11 and 12 left a lot to be desired (hairs and grime visible in many places). I actually spent 2 days in the cabin due to flu and my husband is still coughing and spluttering a month on from our holiday. We had hoped to celebrate his birthday whilst on the cruise but the evening of his birthday we were both feeling poorly due to the flu and ostensibly were unable to enjoy ourselves wholeheartedly because of this ailment managing to take in only 2 of the shows. In addition we had booked 4 nights beach location layover in Fuirajiah, in Abu Dhabi on the way back to UK do I could go diving ( As I’m an experienced Scuba diver with >200 dives) but this also was curtailed as due to the flu I was not fit to dive and ostensibly courtesy of our unecessary sojourn to the HongKong shopping mall this part of the holiday proved to be a waste of time, or at the very least not fit for purpose. All in all we feel cheated and very disappointed on a better note the steward for our state room was great and the ladies in the spa did themselves proud as did the tour guides in Taiwan and Vietnam but we will never be going another voyage on the seas with this Royal ramshackle outfit and nor do we recommend you do either! Embarkation and disembarkation went easily. Ship was smaller than what we sailed in the past but better since we got to know just about everyone working on the ship. Expected the cabin to be more elegant although the bathroom was big and the bed comfortable it was still a little tight and a bit dated. TV was terrible and barely visible from the bed. Food was great and service was mostly good except for breakfast in the restaurant which was inexcusably poor. Difficult to get a good strong cup of coffee. Loved the afternoon tea. Entertainment was great and the entertainers fabulous. Fun activities every day. Our butler and cabin assistant were fantastic. Overall, all of the crew were helpful and cheerful. Ports were also fabulous but excursions were very disappointing. Staff did not seem to care when we had issues with our excursions. Not sure I would do Silver Seas again without checking other lines first. Read Less
