We were really excited to be going on the costa fortuna cruise ship. We arranged for the appropriate visas for cambodia, travel insurance and up to date passports as these were required documentations by costa, otherwise you would be denied boarding the cruise. Well to start off, we were not even asked for these documentations upon arrival and second, we did not need to do the visas as costa would have arranged the visa while on board. The food was horrible, at the buffet and for 2 weeks it was same for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the so called bacon they served was burnt that it looked like it was cremated. Coffee was only served at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other cruise we did had coffee and snacks available 24/7. Bad luck if you went on an excursion and returned late as after 2pm doors were closed and reopened at 7pm. Hand sanitizers in the eating areas were often empty or broken. With the Corona virus around you would think that COSTA would have someone at each point where the sanitizers were to insure people used them before entering the buffet area but not one attended was ever present Now, for the dinner reservation at the fancy restaurants, well the meals were not that spectacular either, you had to pay for the water where it was free in the buffet. The constant italian music, daily games which were more like you play at a kid’s parties were in italian. The nightly shows in the theatre again were in italian and again were not spectacular, people walked out numerous times. Restrooms are so hard to find they were hidden outside in a corner because they blended in with the wallpaper. The staffs at the reception desk were arrogant and not very helpful and would get irritated if you asked them a question. Every day an argument would occur between guests and staff. Take the case of the daily mandatory fee of 10 euros per person per day for services in cleaning the cabins {doing the beds and showers}. I guarantee that the sheets had not been changed not once in the 14 days we were there With so many of us complaining, a meeting was arranged with an english speaking lady from hospitality. When asked about the visas we were asked to do for cambodia, she replied that costa does not ask guests to do visas as they are arranged by costa fortuna for a fee of 40 euros for everyone whether they were going ashore or not. When i presented a copy of the email i had received from costa her response after reading was, that’s unfortunite for you yes it was unfortunate as it all cost us $150 each person. Another question was raised by a fellow passenger regarding the so called 10 euros per person for room cleaning. We were told it is a gratuity fee that goes to the cleaners. We already paid $ gratuity. Passengers were not happy and when they complained, we were told, “if you don't like the ship you can get off. For a couple of seconds everyone sat there looking stunned at what they heard then all hell broke loose. We were in the middle of the ocean, where did she expect us to go. At the end of the cruise all english speaking guests were to attend a meeting for brief instructions on the day of disembarkation we were also instructed and i quote again, to rate costa fortuna a 10 because if we don’t, the crew members will not receive there bonas. Costa fortuna that is bribery. Not going to do what you asked. Worse cruise ever. Costa fortuna was a big mistake. So if you’re thinking of doing a cruise with them you better think twice. Read Less

First and foremost, a trip with Lindblad always means perfection to me. Nothing is left to chance. And everyone connected with the trip is always stellar. I was not a fan of the decor on The Jahan but the cabin was roomy and the bed comfortable so I overlooked the decor for the most part. Most of us on ship thought that we needed more light in our cabins but honestly other than that, no complaints at all. Those who serviced our rooms did a wonderful job and we did love the little gifts left for us each evening with turn down service. Lots of opportunity to mingle with the other guests especially in the bar on the upper deck which was open to the outdoors. Our guides were wonderful. Sometimes I had to strain a bit to understand them but they were all well versed in the history of the area and always ready to answer any questions. Tom, our expedition leader, was attentive and generous with his time. The restaurant staff were wonderful. After one day, they each knew our preferences for beverages and food. I don't usually take many photos. I don't own a camera and use just my phone if I want to take a photo. On this trip, I think I took thousands of photos! Because there was so much to see that I knew I'd have to look back at the photos to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Shore excursions were enchanting especially sunrise at Ankgor Wat but actually all the temples and pagodas were special experiences for me. I found sitting on the upper deck as we floated along the Mekong to be relaxing and enlightening as we passed floating markets and villages. Listening to the call to prayer from the mosques dotted along the river was very special. Many of the sites in Vietnam and Cambodia were sobering but a good reminder of what life has been like for the people living here and what life was like for our soldiers. Would we go again? Absolutely. Everything about the trip was exceptional and met or exceed our expectations. My favorite experience was the opportunity to go into one of the homes built on stilts and to understand why the homes are on stilts. Read Less

As frequent travelers staying in many hotels locally here in the Philippines and hotel abroad in different countries, my wife and I tried to experience to cruise onboard which is Quantum of the seas. Every traveled that we planned, we always rely to read the comments and reviews to all hotels that we stayed in. This time, we decided to experience to choose to get onboard the cruise ship. At first, I was hesitant to choose Royal Caribbean Cruise- Quantum of the Seas because of majority negative reviews that we read, but to my surprised it turns out to be a remarkable experienced cruising at this luxury vessel. We travel Singapore cruise from November 30 to December 5, 2019, 5 days cruise from Singapore-Malaysia- Thailand-Singapore. We stayed in hotel in Singapore since we arrived on the 28th of November. Using our tourist pass which we bought at Changi airport for S$26 for three days is such a big savings using it unlimited at MRT lines and buses by simply tapping the tourist pass card as our ingress and egress on trains and buses. We took the advantage of using the tourist pass card visiting tourist places in Singapore. We observed that if you travel from station to another station it will cost you a minimum of S$0.83 –S$ 2.08 so having this tourist pass card is indeed a great savings. Quantum of the seas is remarkably a huge luxury vessel with superb facilities from cabins, classic restaurants, production show venues, swimming pools and entertainment venues. The Food and beverages staff went out beyond and above extraordinary services, kudos to Head Waiter ONUR from Turkey, Waiters Fely and Frederick both from India of SILK restaurant, Jidong from housekeeping, Bartender Mike of Sky Bar, Alvin of Sorrento, Regie of Solarium, Bar server KURL of Boleros, they all deserved to be commended for the excellent services they have rendered during our 5 days cruise. The cruise entertainment team is very active from the varieties of shows for the cruise led by Cruise Director Ken and Manager Troy. The Captain of the ship and the Hotel Director are always visible from embarkations to debarkations. Singapore embarkation process are very smooth and organized. Singaporean are also well- commended for their disciplined behaviors from dining to queuing on any events or entertainment production shows considering they are about 2,500 Singaporeans who was with us. Though we only stayed on inside cabin but the virtual balcony appears to be like you are staying in a real balcony cabin. The food that we have is so delicious from all the restaurants that we have dined. On our 1st day, we made a reservation to watch the STARWATER production show which is a Broadway’s presentations featuring world class musical show at deck 4 Two 7 venue. It is also recommended to watch SEQUINS and Feathers, another world class production show where reservation is not anymore needed. There is so much fun as in no dull moments from varieties of activities and unlimited dining experiences on board the Quantum of the seas. Over-all we really enjoyed our cruise and the money that we spent is worthwhile for the remarkable experiences that we had at Quantum of the seas. We will highly recommend this ship for our family and friends for them to experience what we have experienced. I would recommend to complete your online departure for Singapore immigration for a seamless process and avoid the long queues of passengers during debarkations. In about 20 mins we are already completed the immigration and down to Cruise terminal picking out of our luggage. Read Less

This was the 3rd HAL cruise we had taken, and an excellent experience. All ship's amenities were beyond expectation. Any mechanical issue, such as a banging door on the veranda, were taken care of immediately. Our cabin steward, Gede, was superbly attentive to our requests and needs. The dining room staff which included our waiter, Antoni, his assistant waiter, Ferry, and our wine steward, Joseph, were professional and not obsequious. Very knowledgeable and helpful with regards to our individual eating habits and requirements. The Neptune Lounge was an added perk, and one worth the money. Sarah and John were always ready to lend a hand. They were a joy to work with. Our only complaint would be the unnecessary need to stop and shop at gem and jewelry shops at the end of an excursion. The added excursion to Angkor Wat, Cambodia, was the most spectacular addition to our cruise. The accommodations were excellent and the guide, Savi, could not have been better. Easy to understand, knowledgeable, and most helpful. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was next on our bucket list. We really wanted to know Japan, not just from Tokyo, but from the aspect of the people in the smaller towns and ports. We have also had great experiences with the Intensive cruise on Azamara in the past. We hold Azamara to a very high standard based on past sailings. This cruise met and exceeded our expectations. The high points are as follows 1. The food in Discoveries has greatly improved with Azamaras new policy of giving the executive chefs free reign. Chef Colin and his crew executed imaginative menus. The food and service in prime C and Aquafina was as expected....flawless and delicious! 2. White night was a blast! The captain delayed it twice due to weather concerns. He was right and the weather was perfect. Again, freedom to act. 3. The azamazing evening in Busan combined unusual and imaginative Korean traditional music and dance with a truly amazing performance by the Korean university Tae Kwan Do team. 4.Shore excursions were executed flawlessly. My Daised and Kyoto were 2 of the many highlights. 5. The visibility of the officers of the ship makes the Quest different from all other cruise lines. They are always there to give a helping hand or just to talk. A perfect example was clearing Korean customs. I could go on but I think you all get the message. Go for the adventure. If you expect shows and glitz and the other trapping of superficiality, choose another cruise line. If you really want to have great food, great service and immersion into culture, this is your ship! This was my first cruise setting sail from a port within Mainland China. It is understandable that a large number of the passengers came from within Mainland China. My immediate impression on embarkation after passing through passport control is that Costa's staff starting from the point where our passports were collected, vessel's officers along the gangway up to the point where our photos were taken for the Costa Cards for use during the cruise, were less than friendly and welcoming. There was no smile whatsoever on their faces and nothing to suggest from their body language that we as paying passengers were welcome for this cruise. This I found out to be the norm for all vessel's offcers during the entirety of this cruise. My review now continues by bullet-points : 1. As Costa Venezia is less than one year old since it joined the Costa fleet, everything on the boat is very new and modern. Wife and I booked a cabin with balcony and the cabin is roomy and nicely appointed. The room was on deck 9 towards the rear of the boat and is very convenient to get to Deck 10, where a lot of actions and eateries are located. During our cruise, our cabin was looked after by a dedicated cabin steward. He was Star Serondo from the Philippines. He also greeted passengers with a big smile and is industrious. Every morning when wife and I went upstairs to deck 10 to take a quick breakfast, Star would have completed the cabin cleaning within the short time that we went for our breakfast, which was normally 40 min. from the time we left our cabin to the time we returned to our cabin. He comes with my high commendation. 2. One very important feature that I noticed is that a large number of the crew on the boat only speak Mandarin. This is undertandable as a large number of the passengers come from Mainland China and they only speak Mandarin. Unfortunately for someone like me who is not well versed in Mandarin found it hard to communicate with crew members when I need to. In one instance, I was asked if I can speak to them in Mandarin!! Their Mandarin speaking crew appeared to be inexperienced and went about their business by adopting Chinese custom and lacking in Internationally accepted mannerism and etiquette. This is a real disapointment for someone like me who is so adpated to Western culture and mannerism. 3. Tying in with my previous comments, a lot of the announcements made on the boat were made in just one language. Yes, you guessed it, mandarin only. This left me in the dark at most times and in particular, I was worried that I might miss any important announcemnt that is safety related. The only times that the announcement was made in both English and Mandarin was immediately before disembarkation when we arrived back in Shanghai. to remind passengers to go and settle their bills before they disembark!! All in all, the entire cruise was geared towards Mandarin speaking passengers and for those who do not speak Mandarin, best to choose other cruises not setting sail out of China ports. 4. In terms of food, those outlets that serve free food offered little varieties and their taste was poor to average. For me, there are only two categories of food, one being to fill you up when you are hungry and the other is looking for quality in the food that one takes. The food served at these outlets only qualify for the first category that I described. 5. I have also tried out four paid resturants during my cruise and they include Casanova, the Hot Pot place, the Teppenyaki restaurant and the BBQ outlet. The only place that comes close to my second category of food is Casanova. The place is quickly filled up and my best advice is to make a reservation for this restaurant as soon as you settle into your cabin to avoid disappointment. However, whilst the food in Casanova is okay to good, do not expect their service can complement the food. Most of the staff in this restaurant has no knowledge on how food should be served. This place is definitely not a fine dining outlet. For the BBQ outlet, the food served was cold and not sizzling hot as one would have expected from BBQ experience. The only consolation is the food served at the BBQ outlet is relatively cheap. The teppenyaki experience is more to attend a show dinner more than quality of the food. At any rate, the quality of the food is nowhere near the authentic teppenyaki restaurant that I have come across, be it in Japan or outside Japan. Hot Pot place is worthed a visit as the food does not require Chef's cooking and the price is again relatively cheap. The boat also has a steakhouse, a seafood restaurant, Napoli Pizza and noodle house which i did not have a chance to savour. 6. We joined a shore excursion when the boat berthed at Kagoshima. Save for the lunch provided with the excursion, the experience was bad. The guide for our group made us stand in line to wait for all the execurion participants to arrive before she led us to our coach. When we arrived at one of the three designated sight-seeing locations, the guide just pointed to where we were suppose to head and did not actually show us the place. At one location, we had to resort to using Goggle Map to find out where we were supposed to be going. The worst part came at the end of the excursion when we were all asked to leave the coach to move into a supermarket like medicine store. We were made to stay there for over an hour. For those who were not interested to shop in the store was made to stand around and were not allowed to stay on the coach! The attendants in the shop were mainly Chinese and that shop can be mistaken as another shop found in Mainland China if we were not told that that was Japan. Better off saving your money by not joining the excursion and simply disembarked and explore the destination yourselves. 7. I want to complement a lot of the English speaking crew who came form India and the Philipines. They are all very cheerful, helpful, hospitable and ready at all times to make passengers to enjoy the cruise as it should be enjoyed. This contradicted sharply with the Western officers who not only appeared to be unfriendly, but also too arrogant in front of their mainly Chinese pasengers. They seem to have forgotten that all passengers are paying to come on board and we are not refugees!! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its interesting itinerary which proved to be so - the colour, congestion of Indian cities and the opulence of the Gulf States. The cabin (outside) was spacious, with a large window; well appointed with plenty of storage; only issue was a shower curtain rather than a door. Service in cabin, bars and restaurant (we only used the 'Islands' ) was excellent, though the Deck bar service was often slow, mainly because under-staffed. Poor staff management. Food was variable - we only used the 'Islands' and Snack-Shack. The latter very limited and ran out of wine on two occasions. The 'Islands' had a good selection, though the carvery was disappointing, and on one occasion the chicken was raw (ie bloody) and the staff rude, requiring attention from senior staff. Our main complaint though is with the poor information provided both by TUI before the cruise and on board. This provided by Reception and Destinations desk was poor and often inaccurate regarding documents required ashore, particularly in India. The excursion arrangements were akso often poor requesting people to assemble in the Broadway lounge resulting in several hundred to go to the gangway, when in fact making announcements for people to go from cabins/ public lounges would have resulted in smaller queues. Basically the staff didn't know what they were doing. Read Less

I was very displeased with the cruise we boarded on April 2 from Singapore to Mumbai. To our dismay upon boarding the ship was old and tired as many of the staff were. When we checked into our room I had to summon housekeeping to change the bathmat as it was frayed and extremely tired as some of the towels. The only saving grace was that the room was a decent size. The food was not first class as its reputation. La Dame was supposed to be their top of the line restaurant which charged $60. pp extra. Definitely not worth it. Stated in their literature is that premium wines are included. This is false as the Chardonnay served was the cheapest reserve of Wente, Morning Fog, when Riva Ranch is only a few dollars more. On several occasions the raspberries at the morning buffet were moldy. The avocado was shockingly served to us when it was overripe and black. Regular yogurt was at the buffet when Greek style was available but we had to ask for it. Why are there items available but not on the menu? This is not what I expected for the money spent. I have sailed on many other high-end ships and this did not measure up. Furthermore, I have received no email regarding my negative comments that I painstakingly wrote before leaving the ship. 4 of our group were so dissatisfied they left the ship after only a few days on board. And to add insult to injury, my travel partner and I had jewelry stolen from our room. When I reported this to the customer relations dept. (Dionel Castillo), the answer was very unsatisfactory. Needless to say, I am not left with a fond memory and doubt that I will return on Silversea as there are many other cruise ships that are a dream like Oceania, Crystal, Viking and Regent who offer much superior service. My first time on this ship and with this cruise line, we picked this because of its itinerary and its smaller size. It didn't start off smoothly but the cruise line fixed the problem and everyone was compensated very well. We did explore the embarkation port which was Singapore stayed 5 days and loved it a most beautiful city with so much history. The Quest ship is still being updated, there was some construction going on during the voyage, not too intrusive. I was in a suite club continental, everything was new and updated huge bathroom, king bed, new carpets, large balcony and many more perks that come with the suite cabin. There are unlimited dining options in the specialty restaurants all included and wonderful we ate in both Aqualina and Prime C excellent service! Also, all international buffets were outstanding. Entertainment was fantastic loved all of the local shows, Ports and excursions were good the only thing, I found it very hard to understand and hear the local guides speak, especially when in a group of 25 or more, they should provide headsets on all the tours. Overall we did enjoy this trip and all the beautiful ports, service by the cruise is outstanding and they really go out of their way to make you feel at home. I would consider another cruise in the future for sure! Read Less

Just thought I’d share a few notes with our fellow cruisers out there. I’ve never written a review before so bare with me. We started in Singapore, one of the most expensive cities in the world. It’s what a major city should look like clean, architecturely beautiful and easy to maneuver. Our hotel faced the iconic Sands hotel. This area is close to most of the attractions so the price point for these hotels are a premium. We went to the Longbar in the Raffels Hotel and had a Singapore Sling for $37.00us, ouch, but it was a cool experience. Explore and enjoy this city, taxis are the best way to get around. The Celebrity Millenium has gone through a re-fit which,in my opinion is okay. The rooms lack color and feel cold. The closet just doesn’t work for tall people’s clothing although there was adequate drawer space. The tubs they used to have in the veranda suites have been replaced with showers, too bad. Public spaces were very nice but some of the light fixtures in the buffet area had bad placement by being to low and at times I’d hit my head on it. One other complaint were the chairs in the public spaces, they lacked ‘sliders’ on the bottom of the legs which made them hard to pull out or push in. On the positive side the mattresses were fabulous, new carpets, lovely to walk on, new lounge chairs by the pool excellent. That’s just a few thing that stood out for me. One major issue I had with this cruise was the distance of the major cities from the ports. I would strongly recommend people to realize the traveling times of each excursion and perhaps stay in a hotel in the overnight ports. (eg. Bangkok 2-1/2hrs each way) Not unless you like bus rides ;-). When we booked it we thought it wouldn’t be too bad, but it was. We went to the Ban-nai Hills to see the Golden Bridge, which was pretty cool but just be aware that at the top of the tram ride the French Village your going to see is nothing but a replicated village and amusement park with hotels and restaurants. Shops didn’t open till 5pm and it was wall to wall people. Not really what I thought I’d see. Needless to say all of the ports were interesting to visit and thought we got a good feel for the countries we visited. Service on board was pretty good, one waiter in the Rendezvous Lounge had issues with service but we still survived. Dining room waiters were awesome, food was pretty good. Tried two specialty restaurants both well worth the extra money. The only thing lacking in the evening meal were vegetables, so we asked for a side every night. That being said, we wondered why the lack of tropical fruit in the buffet. What they had were melons, pineapple, kiwi and dragon fruit in hiding spots but no mango, papaya or guava. All that being said it was long 14 day cruise and I now need a vacation from my vacation. Read Less

WE took this cruise because we were interested in the ports of call. If we had known in advance that HAL was only interested in the passengers going of EXC tours we wouldn't have taken this cruise. Most of the stops we out of the way at some large container port. The cruise director failed to inform us in advance about possible shuttles our of the port. At some of the ports they offered no free shuttle and you could only get out by expensive taxi. As 5 star mariners we have known better cruises with HAL. When in Hongkong they forgot to inform their staff that ONLY the people who went to Macau were not allowed to get off the ship after returning from Macau. We still had half a day left to explore. After a big row with the staff the cruise direction eventually gave out a message that we could leave the ship again. Bad work!!! The entertainment was not exsistent or poor except for the Chinese lady playing the accordeon. On seadays there was NO entertainment except talks for the EXC people. There was no music band on the deck and elevator music played the same music every day. Our cabin was good and spacious as it was a suite and the staff their usual friendly self. Everything was clean. As there were many people with bad cold including me we expected staff to make sure people didn't touch the food or fill their water bottles at the macine themselves. This did not happen. What happened to the coctail party for the past mariners? We didn't get one invitation although we are 5 star. All in all I would say this was not the best cuise we have been on. We will think twice about booking HAL again. Read Less

We wanted to experience a Christmas Cruise. Unfortunately Christmas Day was not as expected, just the usual meals. Christmas Eve there was just Christmas Carols. I expected to have events leading up to Christmas where we could all do things together and make craft things or just do something Christmassy. If you wanted to do anything extra during the cruise, it was so expensive, everything you had to pay extra for. The off board activities were a rip-off. But worst of all we were talked into purchasing some art and told if it didn't suit the house we could return it and receive a refund. 3 months later we still haven't received a refund and worse than that, they actually keep 25% of the refund for us to purchase more art. They are not accountable to anyone. The entertainment was below 3rd class. Why would I want to go to Yoga at 7.00am on a holiday? There was nothing to do while at sea I will never ever go on a Princess Cruise again. Read Less

Well it was my first time going on a cruise so I think it was alright. Good thing Super Star Virgo (SSV) decided to port in Manila because finally I experienced going on a cruise! I didn't really know what to expect so everything is bright and shiny for me. Haha. I did read some of the reviews here hence the title. The other reviews kind of prepared me on what to expect but hey I still enjoyed my time on SSV. There wasn't much to hate about it at all. Even with a despicable smartphone and the corrupted micro SD card, I still had a good time during the whole cruise experience. This is going to be a bit long so read at your own risk. :) The theme of the trip was Spiderman inspired. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stickers and posters were all over the ship. Even Spiderman cosplayers were onboard with us. They had Spiderman themed games for kids to enjoy and for adults to do photo ops with the cosplayers. Too bad I didn't meet my college batchmate while she was working. Haha. Good for her and her fellow cosplayers though. Work cruise ftw. Anyway going back to my review, during embarkation there weren't many people around the port so it was fine. I had thought it would be full of people like in airports but no, it was alright. Not too much lines at all. Imagine my first trip abroad was on a cruise trip. Haha. As for the staff or the cabin crew, they were all nice and spoke good English. There are many fellow Filipino crew staff too so we could also speak in Filipino when they were around. * * * * * ♦ Ship: My first impression was of course just being amazed at being on a cruise ship. The information lobby or the currency exchange area looks amazing. I forgot what it's called but it's the best looking place in the entire ship. SSV is big but we had fun going around and checking out the nooks and crannies we could. We were almost able to tour the "entirety" of it in one day. Of course only the ones open to the public but not everything in one day. We weren't able to join the initial ship tour though, not sure if it was "free". Subsequent ship tours had fees so meh. The pool is 7 ft deep so for those who can't swim well, you can enjoy the jacuzzis and the giant slide. Also the ship has centralized aircon. I didn't think it would but I still think it's worth mentioning. Hehe. * * * * * ♦ Dining & Service: I love the food. Don't worry about what other reviewers here say. If you aren't a picky eater and not rich at all, you will enjoy the food. The best is the buffet in The Lido. Mmmhmmm. I love having breakfast at The Lido. Bacon is crispy. There's milk and fruits and veggies and bread and oh it's just heaven for me. Lunch is good too but I wasn't able to try the dinner buffet since we ate at the other restaurants. In Star Dining we had a bit of an issue the first time we ate there. It took more than an hour for them to inform us they lost our order slip for the main course. Wow. But they were able to resolve it immediately upon us walking out because the Pinay staff outside overheard us talking about the bad experience we had. Good job in "catching" us! Lol. As for Pavilion, the food was good too. Overall, I was always full everytime I ate any meal, except for two incidents. Thank you Lord! * * * * * ♦ Entertainment and Activities: The shows are not so entertaining for me. It was enjoyable for my eyes but if you like a good storytelling like in awesome movies, don't expect much. The best show was the magic show. The rest are just a feast for the eyes. No we did not go to the adult show. We preferred the shore excursions. Lol. I did enjoy the Basic Chinese lesson. No reading or writing, just basic conversational Mandarin written in alphabet and translated to English like "Ni hao ma," etc. There's also the morning stretch in the gym. I joined once before I went to the shore excursion. Hehe. I thought going up the mountain/cave in Vietnam would be difficult. :P * * * * * ♦ Ports & Shore excursions: Before you go to the shore excursions, make sure to exchange your peso or HKD etc., to the local currency. The ship has a currency exchange so this shouldn't be a problem. Cruising into Ha Long Bay port was of course something to remember. There was plenty of time to take pictures before we even got to the port. It was my first time outside the country so seeing the mountains jutting out of the sea was awesome for me. Also the excursion was pleasant and nice. The climb up the steps to the limestone cave was not too difficult at all. Good thing I had my morning stretch that day. The tour guide was nice and thoughtful too. The people speak very little English but are nice and pleasant. In the Sanya, China trip our Chinese tour guide was always in a hurry and didn't care much about us so we did not enjoy much of it. Disembarking took a long time too as we had to go through the arrival port I think? How else were we gonna get into China? Lol. It took longer than we expected. (And they do not allow you to take videos in there.) Perhaps this was why the tour guide was in such a hurry all the time. And yes we already sent our shore excursion feedback while we were on the ship. Remember to use a mobile app to translate or communicate with people in China. I forgot to and never thought of it so I got stressed and frustrated. It's easier if you have a companion who speaks Chinese too. Even so, for some reason the people in Sanya, China didn't seem very nice at all. Or maybe Chinese people are normally rude? Anyway, I did not think of using any mobile app to speak to anyone. I'm old school that way. Haha. The places we went to were okay, we were able to take enough pictures. All I can say is it was a stressful shore excursion so keep that in mind when going to China. Also, if you're not an active person, better take advantage of the morning stretch activity before going to any shore excursion. * * * * * ♦ Recommendations: Overall I think it's best for seniors and kids or adults looking for a pleasant and nice vacation. It definitely does not have much of a night life. Yes they have ladies nights and such but I heard some parts of it but nah. It's best for families too maybe. My impression of everything on the ship was like being with seniors in their retirement activities. I wasn't bored at all thanks to the shore excursions but for me it may get boring without the WiFi and the food or the pool/jacuzzi. There are more things to enjoy so just explore the ship and always check the itinerary. If you get sea sick easily, ask for Bonamine from the information area or the housekeeping. If the waves get strong like it did when we were cruising back to Manila you will need it. A lot of us were getting sea sick because of the weather and the strong waves. Oh and open your TV because you will see the ship cruise channel where a live video of the front of the ship can be seen. Plus it shows a map of the ship location too! Cool huh. It would be much cooler if there was infrared or night vision video version at night, maybe so we could see what's out there in the dark? Lol. And that's it for my review. I definitely would go back if I could. Moolah come to mamah! hahaha. Read Less

We cruised in a Palace Suite as the All Inclusive offer appealed to us and the cruise fare was not much more than a balcony cabin. The Palace is a private ship within a ship concept, complete with Butler service, drinks included, Palace speciality restaurant, free wifi and a chance to dine once at the other speciality restaurants on board We pretty much tried everything on board and loved the private Palace pool area which has a huge amount of loungers, mini cabanas etc all of which are hardly used so make for a nice peaceful sanctuary. There are 4 spa pools, two hot and two cold also in this area and there is no shortage of service around the pool area with drinks replenished on a regular basis. The Zook beach club is a neat area and they hold lively parties there at night, a bit like being in a top beach side night club. The ship is 2 years old but still has that brand new immaculate feel about as she is very well maintained. Try the water slides, they are a total rush with various speeds and hair raising drops for the adventurous Read Less

To celebrate her 50th birthday my niece decided to invite us all to join her on a cruise and P&O Aria South East Asia was the nominated ship. I flew from Auckland to Brisbane on the 11th August 2018, spent two nights there with friends and on Monday 13th I met up with the rest of the group (17 of us) and we flew to Singapore where we spent two days shopping and sightseeing before boarding our ship on the 15th August bound for Bali, Komodo Island, East Timor, Cairns, Airlie Beach Brisbane. What an amazing experience. The ship was huge and enjoyed exploring and meeting so many other beautiful travellers. Some like myself were newbies, while others were old hands at cruising. Our cabin had a balcony and was very comfortable, though the couch our room mate slept on was not so good. Though she reported to the house staff, it was not repaired so she had to compromise by using our extra pillows to adjust the level of her bed. Dining was amazing, with a great selection of foods in The Pantry and restaurants with great service and selections on their menus. Embarkation and disembarking were well organised. Also the shore tours were great too, Entertainment, and activities on board were fabulous. I also enjoyed having Acupuncture while on board as I suffer from hip and back pain and I am truly amazed how much relief and great I continually feeling following my treatment. Read Less

A terrible experience on ovation of the seas! Not a holiday! EMBARKATION - did an online check in and made an appointment time check in! On arrival, all this arrangement does not arrange by rci! When check with rci staff, they just tell me to line up like others of hundreds with hours of waiting on line. Rci staff said that the online appointment and check in - is just a suggestion! CABIN - small and no toilet amenities such as toothbrush, shaver given! Only shower gel at the shower area and a small soap bar! This is worst than 2 star hotel! - pillow stinks! DISEMBARKATION - no smooth at all, messy! Rci have appointed the venue and time to disembarked, but we are show to walk all over to other venues to disembarked! DINING - horrible quality and taste especially windjammer! The taste is so bad and the presentation was so horrible served especially the cuts fruits. - the night snack offered in windjammer from 22:00 hours was only 3 types from the afternoon lunch left overs and tables arrange was less than 100 seatings! There are more than 200 lining up! - only paid dining are good and fit to eat! ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES - children mini water park supposed to closed at 20:00 hours each day, but the park closed at 19:30 with the reason- water pump faulty! SERVICES The grande waiter served us well (gusti from indonesia) and the silk waitress on a grey jacket (from china) was terrible rude and unhelpful! Read Less

There is not enough time to see anything on land, even on tours. Food is so so and the same dishes are repeated over the week. Drinking water is not free in the restaurant and ridiculously expensive. Entertainment on board is boring and are outdated even for seniors. The cruise ship is too small and not ther is enough to do. Even the swimming pool is so small, just like a whirlpool. In general, the restaurant and bar staff are very friendly and accommodating. Most of them are happy to serve, even if you can tell that they hardly have any break. The service is the only one I have really good to say. Embarkation and going through immigration takes so long, at least an hour, when you only have 4-5 hours after disembarking. Overall, it’s a waste going on this cruise. If you expect to see Japan, fly directly to Japan and skip this cruise. There are also hidden fees that they won’t tell you until you are booked. They will also require for the tips on top of the cost. Read Less

This was supposed to be the cruise of a lifetime for me and my wife. It was our 30 year anniversary and we couldn't have been more exciting. We boarded in Yokahama Japan looking forward to our mini-suite, Queen bed and all the comforts of Princess Cruises. We arrived at our room D732 and excitedly entered only to be surprised by a room that looked much smaller than advertised with twin beds, no bathtub, 22inch TV screen facing beds! What happen to our Queen bed, bathtub and greeting Champaign, Fruit and Chocolate? I knew there was a mistake and promptly informed our stateroom attendant who promised to return with a supervisor, which didn't happen for over 2 hours. I finally when to the front desk to explain the.mistake, we booked a mini suite. We were told that they were very sorry but the ship was full. There was no way we were going to take a 23 day (anniversary) cruise sleeping in separate beds, no tub in a handicapped room! We ask if we could disembark, cancel the cruise, we we're told that it was too late and that they would I've us a.s.a.p. whatever that means! every day for the next week I went to the front desk hoping for Golden Princess help us. When they finally sent someone to our room, it was with the idea to put our 2 twin beds together. We would have been ok with that but we were told that it can't be done because the beds would block the balcony! So D732 is not a mini-suite not capable of queen bed configeration. So we prayed and waited.... We also noticed (after a couple days) that we were very cold. We realized that the balcony door was sliding open letting cold air in. We reported it right away. A fix it guy came but informed us that he could not fix it because they didn't have that needed parts. It took 2 weeks before the problem was (not fixed-term rigged) addressed. During that same time that we were cold, sleeping in different beds we noticed that the heater in the room did not work, which we reported right away. The response was to.give us ”extra” blankets until they could fix the problem... Which they did 12 days into a 23 sat cruise. So, you can imagine the anxiety, stress and depression we we're dealing with. On top of all that, my wife when to use the toilet and found it was not working. I had had enough and stormed to the front desk but this time there was a ton of people in line ahead of me complaining that there bathrooms weren't working. We were ask.to use the public bathrooms until they got it fixed. The ship is old and decapitated and should be dry docked for.good! .I talked with.many of the understaffed crew who down to the last one started that they are having more problems now with the ship than they ever have. Buyers beware: Anyway so back to D732. If you go right now to Princess Cruises .com and look up there state rooms, you can type the number of a room and pictures will come up to give you an idea of what the room looks like. When you type in D732 a picture of a gorgeous room comes up with a glowing duscription.... If you go a little further you will notice a ”more information” button. If you go here... several layers down you will find out that nothing previously started pertains to this room... Though they book it as a ”queen mini-suite” it is not. Princess should be ashamed of using these methods to deceive people. I can not even begin to describe all the troubles, hardships and suffering we dealt with in D732 but even the crew of this ship say that this room should not be used. Our 30-anniversary Golden Prencess cruise nightmare. I would not wish it on my enemies. I hope that no one has to go through this suffering for 23 days on any cruise but you have.been warned. Stay away from the Golden Princess it is an old ship. Read Less

I was excited to do this cruise because it was going to Asia where I’d never been before. I thoroughly enjoyed Singapore and would like to visit again sometime. We arrived on ship and settled in our cabins. Unfortunately I found the cabin quite noisy at night. We could hear the toilets being flushed and people walking in the corridor, this disturbed our sleep. The dining experience was an interesting, we were a large group who were seated in an area in the back of the ship. I have never been in a segregated situation before and this is how it felt. We are a group of black individuals who were hidden away behind a high partition and if you entered that restaurant you would never know that we were there. I really didn’t appreciate this situation and chose to eat in the windjammer restaurant instead where I could chose to eat where I wanted. I found the entertainment ok but a lot of it was repetitive. The service was very good, the staff are very helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my shore excursions but was disappointed that we were unable to disembark in Saigon. I would love to do this cruise again but not with this company. Read Less

There were 10 of us on this cruise to celebrate a 60th birthday. The embarking was conducted in an efficient and orderly fashion. The weather was perfect for the five day and the pool areas were inviting with plenty of sun lounges on the deck above and on the pool deck. We all had a balcony cabin on Deck 8 which was very comfortable and it was nice to be able to sit out on the balcony having a beverage and watching the world go by. Our steward/butler Rudi was very attentive and surprised us every day with a towel sculpture on our bed. We had told him we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and he put a heart shaped anniversary magnetic card on our cabin door, so lovely. The ship was explored top to bottom and the facilities were excellent. The food was great and we were able to dine at several place throughout the day and night. We pre purchased the beverage package which was definitely worthwhile, especially for bottled water, which we had alot, besides the alcohol! If you're a drinker of spirits would recommend the beverage package. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't disembark at any ports as we had visited KL, Penang and Phuket several times and decided to enjoy our time on the ship. We all had a fantastic time and we all said we would definitely cruise again! The disembarking was again conducted in an efficient and orderly fashion and it didn't take long to go through customs and get a taxi back to our hotel. We highly recommend the cruise on The Mariner of the Seas to Southeast Asia. Read Less

Anyone who has been following Silver Shadow's reviews on Cruise Critic, must have had second thoughts . The complaints escalated and the stars dropped. Having just returned from one of the finest cruising experiences I have ever enjoyed, I must protest! I will grant you that what others see as old fashioned and in need of a makeover, I see as a patina, a graceful lady who takes very good care of herself. I never once suffered a bed that wasn't anything but pure comfort. The upholstery was out of date? Good grief, is that why you took the cruise ? For the upholstery? I'd strongly recommend buying pashminas at your first port of call. I am quite sure that in addition to all the myriad services the Butler provides you, he has likely been trained as a draper who will artfully cover the offensive sofa with the same kind of panache he brings to your breakfasts in bed or the bath he'll draw you at the end of a long day ashore. The service on Silver Sea is simply heaven on earth. Every single crewmember is at your beck and call whenever you need anything. The ship is so well staffed that you never have to wait for a single thing. And the fact that every single drink, every glass of wine, every soft drink and water is at your beck and call and all included in one fare is just another reason to love Silver Shadown There's enough variety in the various restaurants that the pickiest eaters can find favorites like superb pasta in La Terrazza, and stone-grilled meats at Grill by the Pool that are excellent. Pastries and desserts are particularly good everywhere aboard ship. The dining experiences are as varied as you mood. Opt for formal breakfast service in the Dining Room or catch the morning breezes on the deck outside La Terrazza. The intimate size of the ship lacks for nothing but makes it possible to meet its truly international passenger complement is dozens of ways. The line attracts some wonderful travellers from all over the world. Aboard ship and ashore conversations start easily, common interests forge friendships. My nine day itinerary from Singapore to Vietnam to Hong Kong was an education in and of itself. Two superb experts, one on the Vietnam War the other on Photography and Sea Eploration were a highlight of the trip. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this wonderful experience. Loved the opportunity to sail through a part of India where I could see both various wildlife in their natural environment and observe local village life. Our shore excursions were very interesting both culturally and nature wise. At Kaziranga National Park, we had an early morning elephant safari, followed by an afternoon jeep safari. For me the highlight of the experience was twofold. Spotting a tiger with its prey was so exciting as was riding an elephant. Sitting astride a nursing mother, while learning about the habits of female elephants was also thrilling. Watching rhinos with their young was great. For bird watchers these safaris were fantastic. We had the opportunity to visit some villages where we could observe women weaving, visit local markets, talk with students and generally observe village life. We were able to enter temples and homes, plus we saw several local performances. In addition, our meals on the ship exposed us to local cuisine, which I found great. While on the ship, we also experienced local music and dances, which complemented our onshore experiences. The overall service we received onboard was excellent. Read Less

It was my very first experience on having holidays with family on the cruise. Undoubtedly, the facilities, cabin, dining, entertainment, services as well as the ports and shore excursions are perfect and they were exactly matched my initial expectations. The food and beverage was nice and not too oily. I like the dessert most xD. With the enthusiasm and politeness of the staff, my family and I received helps whenever we need. During the holiday on the cruise, it was coincidence with my brother's birthday. The staffs of the cruise gave surprise to my brother while we were enjoying Gala dinner. The manager also sent his wishes to my brother by offering him a lot of promotions. My brother was having his most memorable birthday ever. During the third day, we disembarked on Myanmar Andaman Beach. Driven by the staff, we engaged in a lot of activities on the beach such as volleyball, dancing and so on. I'll highly recommend everyone to have their experience on SuperStar Libra Cruise at least once in their life time. Read Less
