We have been cruising now for many years and in that time have encountered many events at sea. When choosing a cruise in November from Southampton it is likely we will experience some inclement weather ( it is Autumn/Winter after all ). Storm Ciaran was one such event that kept us in port ( and safe ) for 2 extra days thus impacting the remainder of the trip and missing 3 ports. However, as a ...
Initially, we chose this cruise because it was quite cheap and we could pay monthly. As the time for the cruise drew nearer I was quite nervous because I'd seen some bad reviews for the ship.
My fears soon vanished when we arrived at the terminal. Embarkation was simple and quick and we were soon in our room. The cabin was much larger than I expected, very roomy and plenty of storage space. We ...
Our first cruise & chosen as it covered the date of our 50th wedding anniversary. From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so that we have booked this ship for our next cruise. The cabin was comfortable, the crew extremely friendly & nothing was too much trouble. The the evening theatre cast " The Headliners" were very professional & put on some first class shows. Food ...
The last time I sailed on Arcadia was five years ago. I’d blown some of my savings on a once-in-a-lifetime world cruise and loved every minute. The ports were fabulous and the service on board could not be faulted, but the ship didn’t win me over. Yes, I found the public areas spacious but Arcadia didn’t dazzle: the décor was bland, the styling unmemorable.
Fast forward to 2018 and my opinion ...
We chose this cruise as it took in 7 ports of call of interest. This was our 5th cruise with P&O but the first time on Arcadia. Weather was fine and calm which helped, but everything from food to entertainment was the best we have experienced. In the past some dishes in the restaurant were a little soggy such as chips and battered fish therefore we had avoided them but not so on this ship. ...
We were a party of four (aged 59, 60 & 70).
We've tried to list the many highlights (of which they were lots) and to give a balanced review some things we think could be different (not many I can assure you).
So here's a go......
Embarkation - so quick meaning our holiday started immediately
Staff - second to none especially the Waiters in the Meridian Restaurant (Saviour & ...
First trip with P&O after 20+ cruises with other providers. The ship had just been refurbished and it showed. Really good job. I will say upfront that they got everything right with this cruise, from boarding to disembarkation. See my ratings below. The only complaints would be small personal niggles, which cannot really be put down to P&O. So everything was not perfect, but everyone has ...
First time in the Arcadia and it was absolutely first class. The entertainment in the Palladium was second to none and as good as any London West End Show. Evening dinner was very good although there could have been a better choice in the buffet. I can only imagine the negative reviewers were probably too fussy. This was the best cruise we have ever been on and just right for an adult cruise. ...
Love this ship, itinerary took us to a couple of new places. The ship was full but never felt crowded. Food was lovely... I put on 4lbs. I had to make a choice every night...and the strawberry sundae was delicious!
We had the best cabin steward ever, Shiva, he was so efficient and helpful.
Mum uses a wheelchair and all the staff went out of their way to help her. The doors to the Prom deck ...
We chose this cruise to coincide with my husbands birthday. From day one we had a fantastic time
The cabin with balcony was spacious, the bathroom a bit cramped but adequate and everything cleaned to a high standard every day. Cabin staff ..especially Rona were always cheerful even though it was obvious they were under pressure to complete their work.
We found waiting for the lifts a bit ...
